I received a book for chirstmas called the "end of faith" by Sam Harris. Strangely enough he was also on the cbc's current this morning talking about his book.
I believe his analysis of religion and reason and the clash it has created in today's world is well worth reading. He also show new evidence from neuroscience and philosophy to explore spirituality.

My favorite quote by him is:

Faith is rather like a rhinoceros, in fact: it won’t do much in the way of real work for you, and yet at close quarters it will make spectacular claims upon your attention
