A B.C. woman, a teacher at a (not so) Christian School just got canned for living with her boy friend without sanction from clergy. She'd been teaching there for 14 years already.

Just like in politics. Gotta tow the party line.
Be interesting to see what the human rights tribunal has to say about this.

Probably brought the attention to it by a SJW to bring changes to the system and in turn getting her fired, now using it to further their cause.

The interesting part is the unique position of catholic schools in Canada.

Publicly funded?

If so how can they impose a legal standard that is against the constitution of the land?

I agree, but it is in the contract that is signed, so therefore agreed to, It was probably ignored and let be until some do gooder came along and pointed it out

How did they know she was having sex with him? A man and a woman can easily split on a 2-bedroom apartment to save on rent. That doesn't mean that they're necessarily having sex with each other.

The concept of "spouse" includes a sexual component.

They didn't paint a scarlet letter on her back but they may have wanted to.

All private schools are publicly funded in BC.

I don't have a real problem with that, it does take the pressure off the public system and generally the kids don't lose as much time to strikes and (un) professional days.

I guess she shouldn't have accepted the contract without having it amended, I personally don't agree with her termination or policy, but the contract she signed had the stipulation in it.

The bigger picture is, was the Gov. aware of the stipulation in the contract before funding the school?

Not Constitutional.

She will win.

That's also true in Quebec.

She might have a leg to stand on if they file as a couple at tax time. If they are a couple in the eye of the entity that allows the Churches to be tax-free entities then the Sate is the higher authority in the land.

And the amount of money a school gets is based on the number of students in school.

Why do you think the teachers take attendance every day?
More students = more money!

Quit looking in the mirror when you post. Just because they dont teach you anything important in school doesnt mean the adults here dont know where their taxes go.

Sort of. More like block funding. So much for the year per student. The final tally is done in late September so any new students in the district mid year sort of get a free skate.

Sometimes I think Hoid goes out of his way to be as stupid as Cannuck! Not exactly a goal most normal people would strive for!
