Question about hydro

Ok so im moving to toronto soon and im wondering if when it says "hydro included", is hydro electric, gas and water? or just electric?

Hydro is electricity.

Here in TO "Hydro" is typically both the electricity and the water, but you want to check on this with the landlord, you also want to find out if the stove is electric or gas, and if it's gas if you need to pay for that. Typically many ads will say hh incl or heat & hydro included that way you know both water and electricity are included. Stay away from basement apartments in TO. FYI from your earlier ad, if you are thinking of moving to TO on $350.00 rent you will not find much a very very small bachelor on your own would be at least $600.00 and most shared accomodations that are not roach infested, and will not have a landlord that will completely screw you are about $450-$500.

i looked into stuff..and ill probly rent a basement..that way i wouldnt have to pay for water, electric or gas most likely. And it would be alot nicer.

Having had to rent a basement on 2 occasions all I can say is never again. The basic problem with Toronto and basement apartments is although they are supposed to be regulated they are not. I don't know one person throughout university who did not get romanced by the basement apartment idea, and then regretted it big time. The basic traps seem to be that because they are unregistered landlords when you have a complaint the rental tribunal (which usually sides with the landlord anyways) won't even hear you because they can't compel your landlord to appear, taking rent and kicking you out without notice, not paying damages on basement flooding and not heating properly in the winter are some of the lesser problems that most I know encountered.

Personally my landlord stole my wall.... yes my wall, not that is not a typo... try explaining that to the police.

Beware of the basement apartment you are far better to rent in shared accomodations and have a landlord that is liable due to multiple tenants.

Shared accommodation is when someone advertises for a room mate in a two bedroom apt really good site for lots on info on moving renting all kinds of stuff http://www.settlement.org/site/HO/renting.asp

I never shared any apartments in high school. I was very happy sharing an apartment in college.
