Slocan Narrows Archaeology

The Slocan Narrows Archaeological Project is based in the beautiful Slocan Valley near Nelson, British Columbia.
History of the Sinixt peoples.

The Slocan Narrows Archaeological Project is directed by Nathan Goodale (Associate Professor of Anthropology) and Alissa Nauman (Instructor of Anthropology) at Hamilton College in Upstate New York. The project operates as a field school for students primary from Hamilton and Selkirk College's, although students from many institutions in the USA and Canada have attended. The research we conduct is focused on understanding indigenous lifeways of people in the Upper Columbia River area over the last three thousand years at Slocan Narrows, an ancient village with an extraordinarily long and complex occupational history.
