TORONTO - Police have charged a University of Toronto prof and a member of Ontario Premier Premier Kathleen Wynne's transition government with numerous child pornography offences.Benjamin Levin, 61 - a professor at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education - was arrested Monday after an online, multi-jurisdictional, child exploitation investigation.

He is charged with two counts of child pornography distribution, and one count each of the making of child porn, counselling to commit an indictable offence and arrangement of a sexual offence against a child under 16.

"This is news to us. We're looking into it," said Blane McPhail, a spokesman from Wynne's office.
The investigation is be ongoing.

Levin is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.

This is not good news and what does a liberal have much to do with it?
We have seen many conservatives do the same and a New Democrat
steal an expensive ring. A person's politics does not determine their
level of honesty. I think he should face the maximum penalty for his crime.

We have? I can't recall any Canadian politician busted for kiddie porn of any stripe recently. Do you have names or links? Who stole the ring?

But you are certainly correct about honesty. It is contraindicated if you are politician.

Ontario's OISE Premier Kathleen Wynne today tried to distance herself and her controversial sex education curriculum from Benjamin Levin, the accused child pornographer who ran the Ministry of Education while she held that portfolio as Minister.
“Ministers and deputy ministers do not write curriculum,” said Wynne, a former education minister whose revamp of sex education was kiboshed by ex-premier Dalton McGuinty in 2010 after some religious groups complained it was too risque....So you know, any suggestion that there was that kind of interference, it just demonstrates a lack of understanding of how curriculum actually is written,” the premier said.
Premier Wynne must hope that the public really does have no understanding of how government works. Of course Ministers and Deputy Ministers do not write curriculum. But they are also responsible for the ones introduced in their Ministries. But more significantly, they are the ones who appoint and have great influence over the advisors and "stakeholders" chosen to formulate those policies.

Is Kathleen Wynne seriously saying that she and her chosen Deputy Minister did not fully approve of a highly controversial Sex Education curriculum which their Ministry introduced and which she and Levin were fully responsible?

No, Levin and Wynne didn't personally write the curriculum through which pre-pubescent children would have been exposed to its graphic accounts of masturbation, **** sex and more. It was written for them by others selected by them. Levin and Wynne were the ones trying to impose it.

And only an imbecile would think that Wynne and her underling Levin would impose a controversial curriculum that did not have their full support and guidance.

I know a couple of teachers who like the term "educator" when it's applied to people in education who don't teach. They prefere to reserve "teacher" for people who teach.

Well this left-winger defended Flanagan and his statements. I didn't agree with him, necessarily, but he should have the right to express himself.
