"Freer movement of professionals

"NAFTA includes a list of professions where people can easily get a visa to work across the border. It's an old list — it mentions land surveyors and range conservationists, but not computer programmers. International companies want this list expanded to make it easier for employees to move between offices."

This I certainly agree with and would say Canada should go even farther than that. In fact, I'd say Canada should throw that one in unilaterally. If the other partner's do not reciprocate, then more high-tech firms will prefer to move to Canada so they can more easily access IT professionals from all three countries.

As for the other demands, I'm skeptical of some. It depends on the details. As for others, I think we should abandon them.

The supply-management system needs to go as do cultural exemptions.

I don't care if she cries or not: that's her business. Heck, if her crying helps negotiations, I'd say go for it.

My concern is with the actual proposals. She still wants to defend supply management and cultural exemptions, things we never should have included in the original NAFTA.

As for proposed labour, environmental, and indigenous chapters, I can't comment since the article provides not enough info on those. The devil will be in the details there.

Although when she mentions higher Mexican wages, I don't see how Mexico could afford it just yet. On that front, if she's talking about a North American minimum wage, then I certainly oppose it.

As a proud and patriotic Canadian who loves this country the phrase "Canadas demands" is laughable and ludicrous. Unfortunately we are in no position to demand anything.

Welcome to the real world and I don't like it either.

Getting rid of the Communist-like dairy, eggs cartel and raising limits on duties plus making CanCom loosen up (we don't need the CRTC at all) as demanded by the USA will benefit 99% of Canadians.

Trudeau of course, is not negotiating on behalf of you and me. He is negotiating on behalf of a tiny minority of groups who have been screwing the general public since John A was in diapers.

The loss of supply management is a non starter for both Ontario and Quebec.

Nobody who wants to form a federal government can do that.

Unfortunately due to the voting patterns, Quebec does matter.

Canada will get whatever the USA decides to give us; period.

Whether that is what liar-in-chief grant us or whether we get a deal from US government bureaucrats is very much uncertain.
