Star Wars Fans Divided Over 'Last Jedi'...

Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Daisy Ridley admits the backlash against the film was “fair.”
The actress discussed the lukewarm reception the sci-fi film received from fans, who gave the film a poor audience score on review compilation website Rotten Tomatoes, with USA Today.
“I wasn’t surprised, no. It’s just a different thing,” she told the outlet when asked about the disappointing response. “Everyone’s going to have an opinion now anyway on the internet, but I also think it’s fair.”
Though Ridley understands the high level of expectation for the 2017 instalment of the beloved franchise, she stands behind director Rian Johnson’s vision.
“If people hold something incredibly dear and think they know how it should be and it’s not like that, it’s fair for people to think they were done wrong. It doesn’t mean they were – ultimately, Rian’s a filmmaker and one person can’t dictate how a film is supposed to be – but freedom of expression, sure.”
Ridley is set to reprise the role of Rey in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which hits cinemas in December.

Daisy Ridley Said J.J. Abrams Spoiled The...

Daisy Ridley had a mini-panic attack during her first day on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens when she realized just how big the movie was.
The actress, who has played Jedi Rey in the most recent Star Wars movies, admits director J.J. Abrams warned her about the pressure of starring in a blockbuster but she had no idea just how great that would be until she turned up on set.

During an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, which was published earlier this week, she said, “It was pretty horrid. It was really scary. I felt just sick and I didn’t really know anyone yet.
“It takes me a really long time to settle down with people… and there were loads of people there and somebody had an umbrella over me and even that, like, ‘Oh someone’s holding an umbrella over you? OK (sic).’
“I remember thinking, ‘I can’t do it.’ Like, I can’t do this, this is not right.”
Even members of her family felt the pressure of the role when she started shooting: “Even my mum at the premiere of Force Awakens went, ‘I mean I’m nervous but there must be a reason why they cast you.’ Thanks Mum. It still sort of carried on, but I feel more confident now.”
Ridley will return as Rey in the final film of the latest Star Wars trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker, at Christmas.

Obi-Wan Kenobi 'Star Wars' series in the works with Ewan McGregor

Star Wars News Leaks: Obi-Wan Kenobi...

The Force is strong with Ewan McGregor.
The Scottish actor is in talks to reprise his role as Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new Star Wars TV series.
Variety reports the new series will air exclusively on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+, which is set to launch later this year.
McGregor played a younger version of the character, first portrayed by Alec Guinness in 1977’s A New Hope, in the three Star Wars prequels The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. Rumours swirled that McGregor was poised to revive the character in a standalone film to be helmed by Oscar-nominated director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot and The Hours), but those plans were scuppered after last year’s Han Solo spinoff sank at the box office.
“I don’t know anything more about it than you do, I’m afraid,” he told the Sun at a press day for Christopher Robin. “I really don’t. But I’d be up for it. You know that.”
He hasn’t appeared onscreen in any of the newer episodes — The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and this year’s Rise of Skywalker — but he still relishes the opportunity to interact with Star Wars fans.
“Not long ago they did a Star Wars marathon. I’ve never done anything like this, but I was asked to come and I said I’d do it. I wanted to introduce the last one (Revenge of the Sith) and I went down there at 2:30 in the morning and there were people there who’d been watching movies all day. Those are the real Star Wars fans. They were really in their element and I enjoyed it.”
If the Obi-Wan series comes together, it will be the third live-action Star Wars show on Disney+. The streamer has already set Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian as well as a series based on the Rogue One character Cassian Andor, with Diego Luna reprising his role from the film.
McGregor is no stranger to TV. Last year, he won a Golden Globe for his work on the third season of the FX series Fargo.
He’ll be seen later this year as the adult Danny Torrance in The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep and next year’s Harley Quinn spinoff, Birds of Prey.
In an interview with the Sun last year, McGregor’s Star Wars co-star Hayden Christensen said he’d too be up for returning to the franchise as Anakin Skywalker.
“Absolutely. I would go back in a heartbeat if it made sense. I kind of feel that (Anakin’s) storyline was fully told, but you never know. They’re going to be making a lot of these movies and you never know.”
In addition to new Star Wars shows, Disney+ is expanding characters from its popular Marvel Cinematic Universe, with new series revolving around characters including Hawkeye, Loki, Scarlet Witch and Vision, and Falcon and Winter Soldier.
