VANCOUVER A dog that went missing in Prince George was found three days later with nails embedded into its skull.
Maureen Yeos two-and-a-half-year-old dog Kuma disappeared from their Prince George property Sunday morning. It was turned into the SPCA three days later by a woman who found Kuma in her driveway in Hixon, a 30-minute drive from the Yeos farm.
I went down there right away, said Yeo. As soon as I looked at him, I said, Theres something in his head.'
X-rays taken at the veterinarian revealed three nails, each about three-inches long, buried in the dogs skull.
I threw up. I broke down, said Yeo. Why would somebody do this to an animal shoot a nail gun at a dogs head three times? Its disgusting. Thats just not something you do.
The vet operated on Kuma immediately and removed the nails. It has been released back to Yeos care and is recovering at home.
Since then, Kuma has had one seizure, and there is some damage to its vision, said Yeo. Its still too early to tell whether the dog sustained long-term neurological damage.
He seems a little bit slow, but Im hoping its just the recovery, she said.
Yeo had reported the incident to the RCMP and the Prince George SPCA.
