Americans are depressed and suicidal because something is wrong with our culture

A friend of mine walked in on his neighbour, whose wife had left him, who was drinking with a loaded pistol on the table. The guy said he was going to shoot himself and asked if he should shoot himself in the forehead or the temple. My friend said neither, he said "put it in you mouth and shoot up through you pallet". And he added, "go out into the forest to do it because if you do it in the house, I will have to clean up your fukking mess". Tough love, man. He didn't do it. He still lives in the same house 20 odd years later.

... twenty ... very ... odd ... years ... later, probably.

Sound advice, though. If you must end it, don't inconvenience the living.

Actually it think that is your choice. What i object to is the medical establishment, the judicial system, in fact society as a whole, being obliged to act as a co-conspirator and facilitator of a suicide. All wrapped up in a sentiment drenched conceit of a 'death with dignity'.. with the family (and the family pet) in attendance and a medical practitioner administering a lethal dose of poison.

That is corrosive to any life embracing society. Of course our modern zeitgeist is infused, obsessed, absorbed with death and futility. So this is a predictable development for a society that murders its own infants.. and lays plans to do away with the sick, infirm, incapacitated and expensive. Have no doubt that this is at the heart of the Euthenasia movement and that it will move relentlessly to remove 'useless eaters' and those without the ability to defend themselves.

So i say take your own life, if you reject that all human suffering lacks any kind of redeeming grace. A principle that has been the bedrock of a Christian life since the dawn of Western Civilization. Just don't draw me and everyone else into to it to as an apologist, aider and abettor. Because i still think it a gutless and graceless way out. And no amount of official sanction and affirmation will change that.

If I was advised I had an illness where death was imminent, I wouldn't have a clue how I would proceed until the time came, so I am in absolutely no position to advise anyone else on the matter. If it was a vehicle where all the parts were worn out, I'd probably haul it to the dump.

With Viagra, there's hope.

Viagra is the worst invention for little old ladies...their 90 year old husbands chasing them around the house sporting tent trousers.
