The Duke of Sussex in Waterloo, south London, unveiled their new artwork on Friday after it was painted by artist Paul Karslake.

Landlords Rupert Cleverly and his wife Joanna say they wanted to have “a bit of fun” to celebrate the wedding of the sixth in line to the throne.

They said: “It is a nod at having a bit of fun in support of them and celebrating their relationship and the wedding.

“We thought it would cause a lot of amusement, and that is what it has done.

“I think it represents a very inclusive society.”

The redesign has gone down a storm so far.

Mr Cleverly added: “It has been taken very positively by all of our customers and friends.

“For the foreseeable future, that will be the sign.”

But, if it turns the punters away, he is willing to bring it inside and hang it as a memory of the big day.

He said: “If people don’t like it then I will take it down and hang it in the pub,. It’s a bit of fun.

“It’s just something we wanted to do to celebrate their marriage and the wedding - that was our token to it.”

Rupert and Joanna aren’t the only landlords who have commemorated Harry and Meghan’s big day.

A pub a stone’s throw away from Windsor Castle renamed itself The Prince Harry to celebrate the wedding.

Previously known as The Three Tuns, the pub also served a special local wedding pale ale to some of the 120,000 well-wishers who lined the Windsor streets last Saturday.

Landlady Kelly Carpenter said the change had been planned for a while, but it was a rush to get it ready for May 19.

She said: “We all love Prince Harry. He’s one of our favourites.”

Why? What's wrong with it? There are lots of British pubs with quirky signs. Some of them - The King's Head pubs for example - have signs with a decapitated Charles I.

It's a sign with the Duke of Sussex on it. What sign do you expect The Duke of Sussex pub to have?
