Jack the Ripper 2 is on the prowl

A killer dubbed the Suffolk Ripper - whose killings resemble those of Jack the Ripper and the Yorkshire Ripper (late Seventies / early Eighties) - has killed at least five prostitutes in the Ipswich area. Jack the Ripper - the world's first modern serial killer - killed five prostitutes in the dark, gas-lit streets of Whitechapel, London in 1888. The Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe, killed 13 women before he was captured in 1981. But police are shocked at the frequency at which the bodies of the victims of the Suffolk Ripper are being dicovered, with one body found yesterday and two discovered just today.

Amazingly, as Channel 3 news were in the street about to film a news report a member of the public discovered one more body nearby just as soon as the camera was about to start rolling. Then, as the camera was rolling and the reporter was delivering the news report about this story a police helicopter hovering overhead then discovered ANOTHER body nearby.

Asphyxiated ... Anneli Alderton

COPS hunting a prostitute serial killer have discovered two more bodies in Suffolk this afternoon.

The grim find takes the number of dead women sound slaughtered around the town of Ipswich to FIVE.

Police said the "natural assumption" was that the bodies were missing vice girls Annette Nicholls, 29, and Paula Clennell, 24.

The bodies were found just after 3pm - just hours after police revealed the name of a third prostitute who was found dead in the Ipswich area on the weekend.

Det Chief Supt Stewert Gull said: "I can confirm that two bodies have been found in Ipswich."

A body was found at 3.05pm along the Old Felixstowe Road by a member of the public, police said.

A helicopter was then scrambled and spotted the second body from the air at 3.48pm near the first find today.

The naked bodies of Gemma Adams, 25, Tania Nicol, 19, and Anneli Alderton, 24, named today, were all found on the outskirts of the town in the space of eight days.

Mr Gull said he was not able to confirm the identities of the latest two bodies found.

“These two bodies have been found not far from where Anneli was found and I fear the worst. They may well be Paula and Annette.”

Police this morning released a photo of Anneli and revealed she was strangled.

Concerns have grown since yesterday for Annette and Paula.

The father of Paula pleaded for help earlier today to catch the "sicko pervert" who has killed the vice girls.

Brian Clennell, from Berwick, Scotland, begged other prostitutes and their clients to contact police with information.
Speaking to Sky News, he said: "Any ladies of the night, all the punters - come forward and please help arrest this sicko pervert".

Mr Clennell said Paula was a "loving kind daughter" who had fallen into prostitution because of a drug habit.

He added: "She was a loving member of society - mischievous - but she was a wonderful person."

Panic gripped the Suffolk town as rumours grew that a crazed serial beast is stalking its red light district.

Detectives last night appealed for help in tracing Annette — not seen for more than a week. They were still concerned for the safety of homeless Paula — last spotted at 10.40pm on Saturday.

A friend of Paula’s contacted cops yesterday to say the missing girl had called her on Sunday evening seeking a place to stay.

But while officers said they were heartened by the development, they insisted they desperately needed Paula to contact them to confirm she was safe.

Worried chiefs now believe they are looking for a serial killer.

Detectives have so far been unable to establish how Gemma and Tania died, but suspect they were asphyxiated. Post mortems were inconclusive and further tests are in progress. Neither girl had any obvious external injuries.

There is also no evidence to suggest any of the trio was raped or assaulted, sparking fears the killer may be a crazed moral crusader.

Anneli was last night named as the third victim — previously unidentified by police. A motorist found her body dumped in woodland on Sunday afternoon.

Forensic experts and police search teams were last night still hunting for clues at the scene.

Sources revealed she had been living at a temporary address in Colchester, Essex — but had grown up in Ipswich and had been working in the town.

Police are expected to name her officially today.

Police have warned prostitutes to stay off the streets in Ipswich amid fears that a serial killer may be on the loose

The naked body of 19-year-old Tania Nicol (R) was found in a stream at Copdock Mill, south of Ipswich, on Dec 8. Six days earlier, the naked body of another prostitute Gemma Adams, 25, was discovered about a mile away in the same stream. The two girls knew each other

The body of a third woman sex worker was found on Dec 10. Police said she was 24, but no more details have been released

Police have said they are also worried about two other women. Annette Nicholls, 29, has not been seen since Dec 4 and has been reported missing by her family...

...while Paula Clennell, 24, who also worked as a prostitute in the Suffolk town, has not been seen since late on Saturday

Detectives are trying to trace the clothes Gemma Adams and Tania Nicol were wearing when they vanished. Both were naked with no sign of clothing near their bodies. Police say Ms Nichol was wearing distinctive high heeled pink shoes

Det Chief Supt Stewart Gull, who is heading the inquiry, described the discovery of the third body as a "deeply disturbing development", and said that police are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry

Police are currently interviewing many of the almost 400 men in Suffolk on the sex offenders’ register. They are also looking at whether the A14 was used by the killer to transport the bodies as all were found to the south or south-east of the town, not far from the major trunk road
(The bodies of missing Annette Nicholls, 29, and Paula Clennell, 24 - mentioned above in yesterday's Daily Telegraph photos - were found today.)
