It's certainly proof you've run out of arguments.*

Well, either that or proof you never had an argument* to begin with.

* In this case, "argument" means "a reasoned position based on facts and logic," not "screaming insults because your feels are hurt."

Yeah, I do that too. And with you sometimes, and you with me.

I'm trying to get away from that.

Except with Joshy and Torchy.

Wow, you're splitting hairs with that! Careful, you'll pizz the gun nuts off, as what you're hinting at right there is against their 2nd.

Um. . . hate speech is rightful free expression in the United States. Protected by the First Amendment.

Interestingly, the ONLY right in the Bill of Rights that is denied to discharged felons and persons with mental-health histories who have not been judicially declared non compos mentis is the right to keep and bear arms.

You correctly point out that rights have limits, but the limits are never on WHOM can exercise them, except in the case of the right to keep and bear arms.

And if you're thinking of saying "I'm talking about Canada," don't bother. You're using the American Constitutional phrasing and posting in a thread about an American Congresscritter.

The irony is, I HAVE asked people from the US who are pro-gun, REPEATEDLY, about the mentally ill and them having guns.

I've never once gotten an answer, because I think it's that they CAN'T answer it, and not go against their own "guns for everyone" belief.

I do the same, using the same argument I outlined above.

Understand, I'm pro-gun. I'm shopping for a new shotgun now, and I own a half-dozen rifles, including a couple of "military-style assault weapons" and another half-dozen handguns. I have non-resident concealed-carry permits from states that grant them (I can't get one in Maryland), and my general philosophy is I'm always as well armed as the law allows me to be in any given situation.

But this crap about a "right" is so conditional and shot through with exceptions that it's become ridiculous. My basic position is that people should be allowed, as freely as possible, to own long guns (rifles and shotguns) of fairly low capacity and relatively long re-load times. Pistols should be a privilege for those who can demonstrate their competence to carry and, if necessary, use them, and should also be low-capacity with long re-load times. In other words, revolvers, not automatics.

I claim the right to make these judgements because I'm a military veteran, an Air Force Small Arms Expert on the M-16 rifle, pistol, shotgun, and M-60 machine gun, and a licensed attorney. I know how to shoot, and I know when to shoot. I'd argue that I'm better qualified to carry a gun than most cops.

Ignoring the right part of it for a bit, I have never figured out why so many people feel the need to carry a gun. Especially in town. I have worked in Grisly, wolf, and cougar country for years, often alone and never felt the need to be armed.

Yes I rarely carry in the bush while picking mushrooms , I do carry some defensive measures but riffles get in the way while picking . Cougars mostly hunt in early morning or evening , the older I get the later the start time and earlier finish .

The irony for me is, I totally agree with all of this you just said.

I don't have guns myself personally, but when my dad passes, I intend to take in his guns but more of a memento than to use.

For myself, if I lived like some of my friends to (dog mushers) and trained in the wilderness as often as they did, I'd have a gun with me all the time (not just bears; moose are death to a dog team).

I would too with a dawg team. But a rifle, not a handgun and partly because the sled can pack it, not me.

Please show us where Trump said he was friends with Epstein. We know that Clinton was cuz we have documented proof of Clinton flying to Lolita Island.
