Solar minimum: A mini ice age coming soon

The sun is approaching a "solar minimum" again, which would mean several years of cooling for the earth.

The result would be a mini ice age lasting several decades.

Already once, between 1645 and 1715, the earth experienced a so-called mini ice age due to a solar minimum, which is also called "Maunder Minimum". In these 70 years, global temperatures fell by an average of 1.3 degrees Celsius. The result: poor harvests, hunger, and revolts.

Now, according to scientists, such a new solar minimum is to come, as the sunspot activities show. Scientists report that the sun was free of sunspots for 133 days this year. This means that the sun is empty for most of the year. Experts further warn that this is a sign that the solar minimum is on the way.

"The sun is flawless again. The face of the sun is empty for the 133rd day of this year," wrote the Space Weather website.

"The sun minimum has returned, bringing additional cosmic radiation, long-lasting holes in the sun's atmosphere and strange pink northern lights," the website continued.

The sun follows a cycle of about 11 years, where it reaches a solar maximum and then a solar minimum. During a solar maximum, the sun emits more heat and sun particles and is covered with sunspots. Less heat in a solar minimum is due to a decrease in the magnetic waves of the sun. It is not expected that our sun will change to a solar minimum by about 2020, but it seems to be moving in this direction a little earlier, which could turn out to be bad news for lovers of warm weather.

It is known that low solar activity has effects on the weather and climate of the Earth, and it is also correlated with an increase in cosmic radiation reaching the upper part of the atmosphere
. The empty sun is a sign that the next solar minimum is approaching and there will be more and more immaculate days in the next few years," wrote a meteorological website called Vencore Weather.

This is one of the better play-lists about a mini ice-age and its possible effects as well as its history using the timing of the sunspots. I tend to go with heat from the core has the rate vary and that causes climate change focusing on the extreme amount of ice or the minimum amount of ice.

If the sunspots have a regular cycle then why do we have major and minor ice-ages?

The white at the bottom is 'snowball earth' 350MYA. If ice acts like a blanket then the air might be a bit cooler but the heat that is missing is being stored up in the magma and over time that causes a pressure buildup that is the same as a pressure cooker operates, at some point the expansion takes place and 200MYA the rifts we have today in the deepest parts of the ocean is when and where that stored up heat was released and it was enough to melt the ice, but like our wobble, we never went back to a stable rate of shedding the same amount of heath that the core is creating.
The science behind the theory of 'snowball earth', the timeline being used.

All this is only expectation and guessing .. for no certain fact.
I think, you almost are dreaming.

Astronomers do not know exactly what the sunspots are, and such supposed calmness may be the calmness which precedes the storm.

While all findings indicate the increased heat on earth .. confirmed by the recent heat wave in some cold countries like Canada, Greece, France, Germany and many other countries.

Solar minimum: A mini ice age coming soon

Well, we'd all better increase our petroleum and coal consumption toute suite to save the planet!

Remember, only Husky Oil will do.

Remember, Husky will save the planet

Only Husky!

CO2 is now unhealthy for plants??? Perhaps we would do better at 15% O2 rather than 20%.

Millions Risk Malnutrition as CO2 Levels Climb
Rising levels of carbon dioxide in the air threaten to sap wheat, rice, and other staple grains of valuable nutrients, raising the specter of mass malnutrition, researchers have warned.
On current trends, higher CO2 concentrations could reduce iron, zinc and protein levels in the crops that feed the world by up to 17 percent by mid-century, they reported in the journal Nature Climate Change.
"Hundreds of millions of people could become newly deficient in these nutrients, primarily in Africa, Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East," lead author Matthew Smith, a researcher at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, told AFP.
"These are in addition to the billions of people already deficient that could see their condition worsen."
Protein, along with the minerals iron and zinc, are essential nutrients for normal human growth and development.

Time was where there was no oxygen in our atmosphere, then plant life put it all there. The manufacture it from CO2 and they don't need the oxygen. It is a biproduct of photosynthesis.

There may or may not have been O2 for the first 2.5Ba and O2 didnt come from plants.

It was cyanobacteria that created it.

Land plants came around 2Ba after.
