Pretty sure that "hope" was something lots of people did not want, as they didn't see it hope but against their own values.

And if they didn't agree with the Lib, they voted Green, Bloc or NDP, or maybe not at all.

People certainly didn't vote Conservative.

Nobody is interested in social conservative bullshyte and most Albertans voted Conservative just because they always have

The only link the West has with the East is the CPR mainline. If you can think of something else, I'd love to hear it.

The conservatives aren't a middle of the road party. Look at all the wingnuts here that support them

You don't have any links up because you're not a real Canadian.

I'm linked to Saskatchewan by family, by culture, by language, by nationality, by economics, trade, education, transportation, by history, by nationality, by military experience and by common values..

You're probably still liked to some cutthroat shithole in Lesser/Lower Slobbovia. No wonder you're not a real Canadian.

I don't suppose "the fact that they're part of the same country" qualifies?

If you actually look at the breakdown of numbers between this election and 2015, that's not exactly true.

And in no way, shape or form is the Conservative party middle of the road. If it was, they would'a won the election.

That's where they needed to be but they can't seem to get over playing to their social conservative base, even though that part is already committed to them, anyway. I think that the Right wing part of the Conservative Party is so sure of the righteousness of their beliefs that everyone will naturally follow them.

The Conservative Party needs the Progressive part back, because there is no possibility of growth where they are now.

The liberal and conservative platforms were virtually identical .Why vote for pretend liberals when you can vote for the real deal .

Liberals benefited most from strategic voting, poll of late-deciding voters finds

Look at the majority of districts the Libs. won, the most oblivious out of touch constituencies in the country, they believed 'lil potato that they would lose their values/goodies if the Conservatives won.

The election was called before votes were counted West of the Ont. border, how fair is that to 2/3 of the country?

the liberals won for the same reason they always win - they are strong everywhere.

the conservatives are basically a regional party.

Look at you go, I thought you were a Green supporter? Supporting the Libs. and their strategy of pitting East against West and winning all their seats in the blind urban districts, you go girl.

From @calmecam on twitter:
To the premiers of Alberta and Saskatchewan,
As a Canadian living outside AB/SK, I'm experiencing All of Canada EXCEPT AB/SK alienation by Western Protest Conservatives who keep on trying to impose Harperism on all of the rest of us. As such, I've some demands as well:
a. Stop lying to Western Canadians about that which equalization is. You transfer not a cent to the feds. It is the feds who opt to set aside money that is rightfully theirs in order to help have-not provinces. If equalization were cancelled, AB wouldn't have a nickel more.
PS: The equalization formula about which you complain was designed in 2009 while now-Premier Kenney was a Minister in the most pro-oil federal Cabinet in Canadian history with a pro-oil Premier of Alberta (Stelmach) in place.
It was 100% "Made in Alberta"
If it is "unfair", it is because YOU made it so.
We can't keep going around changing the formula to maximize the benefit to just your two provinces each and every time oil booms then busts.
Your options: Plan better for each or ride the wave like the rest of us.
b. Alberta must institute a provincial sales tax. Every other Canadian that does pay a provincial/territorial sales tax is pretty much tired of subsidizing your 0% PST every time an AB government can't balance its books.
c. Alberta must start contributing generously, once again, to its Heritage Savings Trust Fund. It is not up to every other Canadian to bail you out every time the eventual bust of a boom/bust oil cycle hits because successive AB governments refuse to plan for one.
d. Enough with the Québec/Francophone-bashing, threatening your neighbours with turning off the taps, and stoking national disunity. Canada helped get the oil and gas sector off the ground, has subsidized it annually for decades upon decades, spent $4.5B on TMX ... plans to spend $8 - 10B more on the twinning of TMX, sent another $1.6B your way when things really got bad, and didn't bat an eye before helping with the Fort Mac wildfires.
It's not like you get NOTHING for your contribution to Canada.
Acknowledge it!
e. Respect the courts. There was no "split decision". You lost. More than once. Continuing to fight #CarbonRegulationPricing in the courts is becoming an act of misappropriation of public fund for strictly partisan purposes.
It is unethical.
Stop it.
f. Quit your incessant dehuminization, demonization or your fellow Canadians.
Liberals aren't evil.
New Democrats are not communists.
Nobody is trying to kill Western Canada's economy.
Stop provoking inter-regional rage.
g. Take a few science lessons!

Husky Energy layoffs underway in downtown Calgary

CALGARY — Dozens of Husky Energy workers streamed out of the company’s downtown Calgary location Tuesday morning carrying envelopes and paperwork signalling they’ve been laid off.
Several workers, who did not want to be identified, confirmed the company had informed some of its workers it was making staffing reductions. Some contract workers were informed of the changes Monday evening, they said.
Some people who were let go were escorted into cabs waiting outside of the company’s headquarters on Eighth Avenue S.W.
Several people leaving the building said they believed "hundreds" of employees are affected and many knew the layoffs were coming.
"There was a bit of a slip-up a week ago where they booked off a bunch of meeting rooms, so we all kind of knew it was coming," said Cory St. Croix outside the Husky Building Tuesday afternoon.
"Some of us prepared and cleaned out the office on the weekend, getting ready for it, just in case."
In a statement, Husky Energy confirmed the layoffs but said the company "will not be sharing the number of jobs affected."
"Husky has been taking steps to better align the organization and workforce with our capital plan and strategy," read the statement.
"These changes put Husky in the best position to achieve its goals. This was about changing the way we approach our business, the way we make decisions and the way we work together to meet our goals."

The green industry (fastest growing in Canada) I am sure is looking for capable people.

Not surprising the green energy is growing so fast. Look at the public subsidies. You sound like a Trumpite bragging about the hot American economy. Like a Trumpite, you're not smart enough to see it isn't sustainable

I can hardly think of a major industry that hasn't received large public subsidies.

The U.S.A. has it down pat with their massive military spending that stimulates and subsidizes all sorts of economic sectors. They can call it something else, too and confuse our Canadian Hillbillies all to hell with things like: "The Americans don't subsidize Boeing the way we subsidize Bombardier."

Nice shell game. The sub-normals are all bamboozled by it.
