I agree. No war, not now despite the NK rhetoric. China is the key, it's not in their interest for NK to stir up armed conflict in their back yard. They will muzzle and leash the little man before he can start anything.

The last time No Korea rattled their chains it was because they wanted goodies from the US, and the US took the bait and rewarded them for not pursuing nukes. Then discovered that NK was still after nukes. Now they have them, no war. Frankly lately the US has only gone to war with countries who don't have nukes.

Wars make good business opportunities and creates a lot of jobs. The world has drown the line in the sand so now the dare is out to North Korea to cross it and then China can take back both Korea countries because of the business opportunities in China no country will stand up against them.

They certainly do! Heck, look at Vietnam. We lost less than 60,000 people in twelve years, less than died in the same period in traffic accidents. And businesses made trillions coming up with newer, better, flashier ways to blow stuff up.

Could be. China tends not to be land acquisitive outside of their own notion of "greater China" though. Is the Korean Peninsula part of "greater China?"

Former Chinese territory. After they eventually incorporate South Tibet watch what happens. India is the next one on the list.

NK; little fish in a big pond that's jealous of all the big fish. It cannot afford a war. And no-one else wants a war.

You are going by past history prior to Mao- Look at Tibet- At the 3 wars fought with India over territory.

The War militarily was won after the failed and successful Tet offensive. The NVK were destroyed but the war was won in the living rooms of the US.
The US public was fed up with the war.

NK does not have the money or supplies to start even a backyard BBQ. All the sabre rattling is just to take the local's minds off the disaster the dictatorship has made of their economy. Certain amount of ***** envy as well since SK is doing quite well.

Keep this in mind....

North Korean nukes can hit Beijing or Shanghai just as easily as they can Seoul.

Hey, South Korea. We're planing to attack you. Would you mind providing us with some food for the war first? If you don't, we'll attack you for the food. And you don't want to mess with us; you know how vicious a starving animal can be.

Actually, even Beijing, North Korea's only ally, is getting sick of its antics. One would think that if the North Korean leadership were smart, they'd recognize that with China being its one and only ally, it might be a good idea to not be a pain in China's back side all the time or else it might find itself with no allies felt.

Somewhat correct. The US public didn't have the stomach for expanding the war in Laos & Cambodia and escalating to the tactics used by the NVA or Viet-Cong. Although the public mostly didn't like the tactics already in use by the Americans such as carpet-bombing with napalm.

The US probably could have won if they were allowed carte-blanche as to the how and where the fight would happen but they chose to adhere to public pressure and the Geneva Conventions. Something they haven't done in Afghanistan or Iraq....not that it has helped, they are still being defeated by largely untrained forces who have more heart & will to defend their country than the US has to take it by force.
