Chilean singer Mon Laferte surprised many at the Latin Grammys red carpet on Thursday by exposing her bare chest, on which she’d written “en Chile torturan violan y matan” (in Chile they torture, rape, and kill) with a black marker pen.
Hundreds of people have been killed in recent months while protesting police brutality and corruption in Chile.
Laferte posted a picture of herself with the politically charged message with the caption, “My free body for a free homeland” written in Spanish.
