At a cost of at least $5 million for every 30 seconds of commercials with a total of 51 minutes & 30 seconds in tv commercial time, the league will make much $$$ for the Super Bowl. This doesn't even include radio commercial time.

NFL is doing so well financially that they have the luxury of rejecting multi million dollar ads like that.

I am not entirely sure those numbers are 100% accurate. While tv viewership may be down, the fact is that taverns and eating establishments have TVs which show these games as well. For example, I watch youth hockey in West St Paul where the arena now has a large TV. Same as when I attend games in South St Paul. Dozens of people watch at the same time but none are counted among the totals your link reported. The large building I live in has a spacious community room with a 60 inch TV. No telling how many people watched the game there as I was comfortable in my own apartment and ate a dinner that couldn't be beat.
By the way, consider this:
World Series ratings sharply down from last year
https://www.apnews.com/754cd23aba144d998dd76b4e217d62ba
It was a great World Series for Boston, but not necessarily for Fox.
The Red Sox’ five-game victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers averaged 14.1 million viewers, the Nielsen company said. That’s sharply down from the 2017 Fall Classic, which averaged 18.9 million viewers for the Houston Astros’ seven-game triumph over the Dodgers.

But this is likely true of all sports. Still the revenues continue to go upward so none of us need to shed a time for major league sports.

The problem with selling this Super Bowl is that the Rams have no home crowd. Because they have no home. When you move your franchise around like a chess piece you lose your home town base.

There was no way this was ever going to be a big Superbowl.

Veteran tv host Bob Costas confirms he was removed from his 9th Superbowl hosting gig due to comments he made about concussions.

When he truthfully said that he wouldn't let his kids play the game - just like Brett Farve said - he was dispatched in favor of a less "controversial host.

NFL settles collusion lawsuit with Kapernick and Reid.

All sides sign non disclosure agreements so nobody can be sure what happened but its odds on that the NFL coughed up $50 million or so.

A prominent business owner and the former part-owner of the Minnesota Vikings was found dead next to his wife this week in what police believe to be a murder-suicide.
RadarOnline.com has learned Irwin Jacobs and wife Alexandra were unconscious in their bed with a handgun by their side when a routine visitor walked into their multimillion-dollar mansion and saw them.

“Officers with the Orono Police Department made entry into the home. Upon entering, we found two individuals deceased — one adult male, one adult female — they were both inside the house and a gun was recovered,” Orono Police Chief Correy Farniok said at a press conference. He added that the medical examiner has yet to officially release their identities.
Irwin’s company, Jacobs Management Corp. released their own statement, on behalf of the couple’s five children, confirming the tragedy.
“Our family is shocked and devastated by the death of our parents, Irwin and Alexandra Jacobs,” read the statement issued Wednesday. “We are heartbroken by this loss, and we ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time.”

Farniok said police believe the alleged murder-suicide is a “contained situation” which poses “no immediate threat to the community.”
“We don’t see this very often — in any of our communities, this doesn’t happen,” he told reporters Wednesday. “We are taking this seriously. We’re looking at it from every aspect.”
Police did not confirm the people’s identities, but Dennis Mathisen, one of Irwin’s longtime business partners, told The Star Tribune that the renowned businessman, likely killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. Both were 77 and had been married for 57 years. According to Mathisen, Alexandra developed signs of dementia and was confined to a wheelchair about one ago. Her condition had Irwin “distraught.”

La-Rayah Davis was worked to death by her mothers former football star boyfriend. Cierre Wood is charged with murder. FACEBOOK
A former star running back for Notre Dame is accused of working his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter to death.
TMZ Sports reports that Cierre Wood — who also played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers — is facing murder and child abuse charges after forcing the child to do NFL-style workouts.
La-Rayah Davis died last Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Wood reportedly decided that the little girl was “chunky” and decided to do something about it.
He allegedly made the child run sprints in the family’s apartment, do sit-ups and wall squats.

On Tuesday, La-Rayah couldn’t finish the second set of sit-ups and fell backward, banging her head against the floor.
She briefly stood up before collapsing.
The child’s mother, Amy Taylor, is also charged with murder and child abuse. LAS VEGAS POLICE
According to KSNV, an autopsy showed the little girl’s skull had multiple contusions. It also revealed she had rib fractures. A liver laceration was deemed the likely cause of death.
Cops say that Wood wasn’t the only one who allegedly abused the child.
Her mother, Amy Taylor, is also charged with murder.
She reportedly abused La-Rayah on a regular basis.
In the days before she died, La-Rayah complained about chest pains that were the result of her mother sitting on her chest and stomach.
TMZ said it was allegedly punishment for behaving badly. Taylor told cops she “popped” her daughter before she died.

“She can’t be there no more. I can’t call her no more,” the child’s father, Danaun Davis, told KSNV.
“Never thought I’d bury my child at 5 years old.”
Wood’s promising NFL career crashed and burned after short stints in Houston, New England, Seattle and Buffalo.
He called his torment of the child “Learning through fun.”

Former NFL player's son arrested in Mexico for parents' murder

Gridiron great Barry Bennett became famous as a member of the New York Jets’ famed “New York Sack Exchange.”
Fame and money couldn’t save him.
Cops allege his 22-year-old “wild” child son shot to death Bennett and his wife Carol at their rural Minnesota home before going on the run.
Mexican police busted Dylan Bennett over the weekend on charges of murdering his parents, who were both 63.
Todd County, Minn. Sheriff Steve Och said Dylan called him on the weekend claiming he wanted to turn himself into the FBI.
Before Minnesota authorities could put out the call, the younger Bennett had been arrested in Cancun.
“I’m glad they got him,” neighbour Ron Arnold, 83, told the New York Daily News, adding they were “perfect neighbours.”
“They were good people — hard-working people.”
The couple was killed by multiple shotgun blasts on their sheep farm last Monday in Long Prairie — about 200 km northwest of Minneapolis.
Dylan Bennett and his brother were adopted by the former NFL star and his wife.
“There were two boys they adopted, and they were a bit on the wild side,” Arnold said. “They caused problems in school.”
Barry Bennett was a third-round draft pick and spent six seasons with the Jets, from 1982 to 1987. He was a defensive tackle and defensive end, and made 55 starts with 18.5 sacks.
After the NFL, he became a football coach at a Minnesota high school.
