Premier Doug Ford has made James Wallace his chief of staff as part of a larger reorganization of his office.
Wallace, a former Toronto Sun and Postmedia Inc. executive, had been the acting chief of staff since the June departure of Dean French, after a year in which French began rivalling his boss for media headlines.
Wallace is a former Queen’s Park journalist with the Toronto Sun, National Post and Osprey Media, as well as the former vice-president of editorial for the Sun newspapers.
In a message to the Progressive Conservative team, Wallace announced a number of other changes to the premier’s office including the addition of Mark Lawson as deputy chief of staff policy and Matt Bondy as deputy chief of staff strategic communications.
Simone Daniels remains in the role of deputy chief of staff, administration, tour and human resources, his memo said.
“The experience and leadership of our senior team will be invaluable as we move forward,” Wallace said. “These changes will better position our office to support the premier, each of you, our cabinet and our caucus in the coming months as we push ahead with our ambitious agenda on behalf of the people of Ontario.”
Wallace is expected to bring some calm and professionalism to an office that attracted a lot of media attention during the government’s first year in office.
Former chief of staff French was known for a mercurial style that alienated some PC caucus members, but also for his strong longstanding loyalty to Ford.
French left the position after revelations that people with links to him or his family obtained government positions.

That figures.

I'm waiting for Ezra Levant to show up as some sort of consultant.

Maybe, Steve Bannon is available, too.
