Trump just viciously lashed out at Kamala Harris after she promised to prosecute him
President Trump is desperate to win reelection not just because losing would deflate his turgid ego and strip him of his ability to abuse the powers of the executive branch to enrich himself and his associates, but because he knows if he is booted out of office a Democratic administration would have grounds to prosecute him on a whole litany of crimes, most notably the ten different incidents of obstruction of justice that Special Counsel Robert Mueller pointed to in his report.
Senator Kamala Harris, one of the leading candidates for the Democratic nomination, said yesterday
that if she wins the presidency her Department of Justice would “have no choice” but to prosecute Trump. Given that she is the former Attorney General of California as well as a former prosecutor, one can take her at her word when it comes to upholding the law.
Now, Trump has responded to Harris’s promise. In his new interview with ABC’s
George Stephanopoulos which aired today, he tried to play it off as nothing to worry about.
“Oh, give me a break. She’s running for president, she’s doing horribly, she’s way down in the polls,” Trump claimed. In reality, she’s one of the top polling candidates with a strong possibility that her numbers will continue to rise, especially after she takes part in the first round of primary debates, a format she excels at.
“I must say, Pocahontas is really cleaning her clock,” Trump added, dusting off his racially insensitive nickname for Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who is currently enjoying a massive surge in the polls.
Trump then admitted he promise to do the same thing as Harris if he were in position, which of course makes little sense because it would require him running against someone as blatantly corrupt and criminal as he is.
