Legendary film critic Roger Ebert dead at 70
Roger Ebert Dead: Movie critic for Chicago Sun-Times died of cancer | Movies | Arts | National Post
His 1975 Pulitzer for distinguished criticism was the first, and one of only three, given to a film reviewer since the category was created in 1970. In 2005, he received another honour when he became the first critic to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And one thumb goes down....
Wow. The end of an era. R.I.P.
It's both thumbs down now if I remember right.
Siskel and Ebert brought the critiquing of movies to an entirely different yet more accessible level, IMHO. Their intelligent commentary and quick repartee' quickly made them my go-to guys on movies. I most liked their debates when divided on thumbs up or down. I seldom if ever differed from their opinions of the movies they reviewed.
