The Close Connections Between JPMorgan and the CCP

The financial giant is hit by the CCP virus

Commentary by Wang Jin
May 4, 2020. Updated May 4, 2020

In April the CCP virus (novel coronavirus) pandemic spread in the trading department of JP Morgan ’s Manhattan headquarters. The Wall Street Journal reported on April 7 that about 20 employees on the fifth floor of JPMorgan Chase ’s headquarters tested positive for the CCP virus, and 65 others were quarantined; many traders who buy and sell stocks and sell trading strategies to customers work on the fifth floor of the building.

Bill Pike, a former senior executive at JPMorgan Chase, also passed away on March 18 due to infection with the CCP virus.

JPMorgan Chase, headquartered in Manhattan, New York, is the largest financial services institution in the United States, with assets larger than Bank of America, Wells Fargo, or Citigroup. Why has the CCP virus hit JPMorgan Chase so hard?

An editorial in The Epoch Times points out that “the heaviest-hit regions outside China all share a common thread: close or lucrative relations with the communist regime in Beijing,” and “any country, community, or organization that keeps too close to the CCP and falls for its deception will taste the bitter fruits of that involvement.”

What is the relationship between JP Morgan and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)? This article explores the symbiotic relationship between the two as a cautionary tale.

Chinese Companies Listed in the U.S. Market Finance the CCP Like Blood Transfusions

For decades, JPMorgan Chase has played a key role as a lead underwriter to help many Chinese companies secure IPOs (initial public offerings) in the United States or Hong Kong, raising an astonishing amount of U.S. capital for the CCP.

A lead underwriter, per the Divestopedia website, is “usually an investment bank that helps an organization to sell its shares to the public for the first time. In the case of large offerings, a group of underwriters come together to form a syndicate and the entity leading this syndicate is the lead underwriter.”

China’s WeDoctor plans to list in Hong Kong in the second half of 2020 and plans to make an initial public offering of U.S. $1 billion. JPMorgan Chase is also one of the listed underwriters chosen by WeDoctor.

According to data from China’s Baidu Baike (Chinese online Encyclopedia), JPMorgan Chase ranks first in Asian stocks and stock-related issuances since 1993. Since then, the company has underwritten 88 stock transactions for Asian companies. Since this is not the latest data, the number of stock transactions it has actually underwritten is likely higher than this.

Which Chinese Companies Worked With JPMorgan Chase for U.S. or Hong Kong IPOs?

The following are just a few examples of Chinese companies working with JPMorgan Chase on IPOs, based on the public information released by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC), on Feb. 25, 2019 and reports from Chinese state media:

In 2014, Alibaba raised $21.8 billion in its IPO in New York. JPMorgan Chase and six other investment banks acted as its lead stock underwriters. As of Feb. 25, 2019, Alibaba’s market value exceeded $458.6 billion.

In a document submitted to the U.S. securities regulator, Alibaba stated that the banks handling its IPO were set to receive a total of $300.4 million in commissions, or more than 1% of the proceeds.

In November 2019, Alibaba re-listed its public offering in Hong Kong. Five well-known investment banks, including JPMorgan Chase, were underwriters of Alibaba’s secondary listing in Hong Kong. Mainland China’s media reported that the offering raised about $15 billion.

Alibaba has a close relationship with CCP “princelings” (children of key communist officials). According to the New York Times, some of the executives of all four Chinese companies investing in Alibaba are the children and grandchildren of more than 20 CCP officials who served on the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee after 2002, including Jiang Zemin’s grandson “Alvin” Jiang Zhicheng.

In 1996, Guangshen Railway was listed in New York and Hong Kong, raising more than $500 million dollars. JPMorgan Chase was one of its underwriters. As of Feb. 25, 2019, the market value of Guangshen Railway exceeded $3.1 billion.

In 2000, PetroChina went public in New York and raised more than $680 million. JPMorgan Chase was one of its lead underwriters. As of Feb. 25, 2019, CNPC’s market value exceeded $123.6 billion. PetroChina is a Chinese state-owned enterprise.

In 2001, Chalco was listed in New York and Hong Kong, raising funds of $486 million. JPMorgan Chase was one of its stock underwriters. As of Feb. 25, 2019, the market value of Chalco exceeded $5.8 billion.

In 2002, China Telecom was listed in New York and Hong Kong, raising $1.52 billion. JPMorgan Chase was one of its underwriters. As of Feb. 25, 2019, China Telecom’s market value exceeded $45.5 billion.

In 2014, China Momo (Momo, Inc.) listed in New York, raising funds of $216 million, with JP Morgan Chase one of its lead underwriters. As of Feb. 25, 2019, the market value of Momo exceeded $6.8 billion.

The USCC stated that, as of Feb. 25, 2019, there were 156 Chinese companies (the number does not including the offshore Chinese companies listed in Hong Kong) listed on the three major stock exchanges in the United States—the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ, and the American Stock Exchange—with a market value of $1.2 trillion.

Roger Robinson, the economic and financial strategist of former US President Reagan, estimated that “the U.S. has roughly $1.9 trillion invested in Chinese stocks and another trillion in bonds.”

In addition to the stock market, another major market for the CCP’s overseas financing is bonds.

Big Bond Funds

During this crucial time of the global fight against the CCP virus pandemic, JPMorgan Chase seemed to have made a big move quietly.

On Feb. 28, 2020, JPMorgan Chase included in its global emerging market government bonds index nine local Chinese government (CCP) bonds. According to the plan, the inclusion will be completed step by step within 10 months.

JPMorgan Chase announced this news in September 2019, and this time it was implemented as originally planned.

It is reported that after the inclusion, international investments that “track” the index automatically allocate Chinese bonds in proportion. Goldman Sachs calculated that this inclusion will hopefully attract $3 billion in foreign funds into the Chinese bond market every month.

Industry insiders said that after the CCP government bonds are fully included in the JP Morgan Chase Index, they can reach the weight limit of 10% of the index.

According to mainland China media reports, Bloomberg calculated that when the weight of China’s bond inclusion reaches 10%, the scale of potential foreign capital inflows to China will exceed $20 billion.

Incorporating the Chinese government’s government bonds into mainstream international bond indexes has contributed to the inflow of foreign capital into China. In February of this year, foreign ownership of Chinese bonds reached a record high.

During the Pandemic, JPMorgan Was Part of the Online Shanghai Opening Ceremony

Under the pandemic, Shanghai held an online opening ceremony for local branches of five global institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Invesco, and Russell Investment on March 20, 2020.

On Dec. 18, 2019, JPMorgan announced that the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has approved a Securities and Futures Business Permit for JPMorgan Securities (China) Company Limited. The approval paves the way for JPMorgan’s majority-owned securities company in China to commence business operations.

Filippo Gori, CEO for JPMorgan, Asia Pacific, said in the company’s statement: “China represents one of the largest opportunities for many of our clients and is a critical component of JPMorgan’s growth plans in Asia Pacific, and globally.”

According to a report from Sina, JPMorgan has posted more than 30 career and job opportunities in China in 2020.

The business and investment of JPMorgan in China have a long history.

A Business With Deep Roots in China

The following historical information is taken from JPMorgan’s official website.

1973

Chase Chairman David Rockefeller leads a U.S. delegation to China to meet with China’s Premier Zhou Enlai. In the same year, Chase becomes the first U.S. bank to be designated as a correspondent bank for Bank of China.

1997

JPMorgan acts as a joint book runner for the People’s Republic of China’s$500 million bond issuance.

2001

JPMorgan Chairman and CEO Bill Harrison meets with China’s President Jiang Zemin in Beijing.

J.P. Morgan Chase Bank (China) Company Limited, the firm’s locally incorporated bank, is established.

JPMorgan received approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission to enter into a joint venture futures company, known as the J.P. Morgan Futures Company Limited.

2011

JPMorgan signs the investment agreements in Beijing to establish a Sino-foreign joint venture guarantee corporation as one of the major investors.

2015

JPMorgan Chase & Co. forms a strategic partnership with Postal Savings Bank of China.

2017

JPMorgan received a Type-A Bond Settlement Agent license in China.

JPMorgan received Debt Financing Instruments of Non-financial Enterprises Underwriting License in China’s interbank bond market.

JPMorgan was appointed by the People’s Bank of China as an RMB clearing bank in the U.S.

JPMorgan offers trading and clearing of Renminbi-denominated crude oil futures contract for its onshore and offshore clients.

JPMorgan submitted an application to the China Securities Regulatory Commission seeking to establish a new securities company in which it would hold a 51% stake.

JPMorgan China becomes a Bond Connect market maker, acting as one of the price providers to serve the Northbound Link leg of the connection between the mainland bond market and Hong Kong and the overseas investors.

The following are among the financial services provided by JPMorgan in China:

In September 2003, when China Telecom announced its up to $10 billion plan to purchase six provincial phone networks from its parent company, Morgan Stanley was the sole financial advisor to the company.

In 2004, China’s dominant offshore oil and gas producer CNOOC launched a $750 million bond in the international capital market. JPMorgan served as one of the bookrunners.

Among the many financial services and investment projects carried out in China, what is the scale of revenue JPMorgan could make? The following case may illustrate.

In one of the biggest tech mergers ever, Dell bought EMC for nearly $67 billion in 2016. Morgan Stanley was the lead financial adviser to EMC, while JPMorgan was the lead financial adviser to Dell. Together, they may have raked in up to $210 million in advisory fees, according to estimates from consulting firm Freeman & Co.

JPMorgan’s ‘Sons and Daughters’ Program to Win Favor of the Regime

A three-year investigation into JPMorgan marks one of the first major crackdowns on a big U.S. bank for running afoul of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). This legislation prohibits companies from making payments or giving “anything of value” to win business from foreign officials.

Wall Street Journal reported that JPMorgan Chase & Co. hired friends and family members of executives at three-quarters of the major Chinese companies it took public in Hong Kong during a decade-long boom in Chinese IPOs, according to a document compiled by the bank as part of a federal bribery investigation.

Obviously, this program was meant to safeguard business within JPMorgan by securing its communist connection.

Charles Li, the head of the Hong Kong stock exchange, was involved in controversial hiring efforts when he worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co., recommending that the bank employ children and acquaintances of Chinese officials, clients, and potential clients, according to people familiar with the matter and emails reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Among those recommended were a family friend of Huang Hongyuan, then a senior official at the China Securities Regulatory Commission and now the president of the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Other referrals included Liu Lefei, the son of Liu Yunshan, the current head of the CCP Propaganda Department and a member of the Politburo Standing Committee.

Also included is former Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying’s younger daughter. She interned at a Hong Kong subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Leung Chung-yan did the internship in the summer of 2010 when she was in secondary school, when the bank’s internship program offered in Hong Kong did not apply to secondary school students.

In 2016, JPMorgan agreed to pay a $264 million fine to settle claims that its hiring violated the FCPA. Over a seven-year period between 2006 and 2013, the bank hired about one hundred interns and full time employees at the request of government officials in China and elsewhere in Asia as part of its efforts to build banking relationships in the fast-growing region. The hiring, dubbed internally as a “Sons & Daughters Program,” enabled JPMorgan to win business that generated $100 million in revenues for the bank.

Staying Away from the CCP and Be Self-reliant: The Way to Defend Against the CCP Virus

The only thing that enables the CCP to stay afloat is foreign investments from the United States and the West, according to Kyle Bass, founder of Hayman Capital Management. In the China Forum, an annual conference in Washington, D.C., Bass said on September 26, 2019 that without foreign investments, the CCP could not survive.

Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist, said “The Chinese Communist Party is the Frankenstein monster created by the elites in the West—the capital provided by the elites in the West, the technology that’s provided by the elites in the West.”

He urged Western countries to stop providing capital and technology to China. “We have to stop that. We have to hold ourselves accountable. This was not Xi, this was not Wang Qishan. This was us. We did this. That Frankenstein monster is our responsibility… We have a fiduciary, a responsibility to unwind this. ”

“This is not about trade, this is not about soybeans, this is not about steel. This is the highest moral imperative we have,” he said.

“Now people are all shocked…It (China) permeates everything. It’s the central issue of our time. And the central issue, the core issue, is how we took the great values of the West and look the other way for money.”

“We are at an inflection point because the world is starting to awaken that something has gone terribly terribly wrong, and the reason it went terribly wrong is because of us.”

How do we stay safe in face of this global pandemic caused by the CCP virus? An editorial by The Epoch Times provides an answer: “Staying away from the CCP and condemning the CCP can help any individual, organization, or country alleviate or even avoid the CCP pandemic entirely. They may then embrace a wonderful future.”

The Worldwide Lockdown May Be the Greatest Mistake in History

Dennis Prager
May 5, 2020

The idea that the worldwide lockdown of virtually every country other than Sweden may have been an enormous mistake strikes many—including world leaders; most scientists, especially health officials, doctors and epidemiologists; those who work in major news media; opinion writers in those media; and the hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people who put their faith in these people—as so preposterous as to be immoral. Timothy Egan of The New York Times described Republicans who wish to enable their states to open up as “the party of death.”

That’s the way it is today on planet Earth, where deceit, cowardice and immaturity now dominate almost all societies because the elites are deceitful, cowardly and immature.

But for those open to reading thoughts they may differ with, here is the case for why the worldwide lockdown is not only a mistake but also, possibly, the worst mistake the world has ever made. And for those intellectually challenged by the English language and/or logic, “mistake” and “evil” are not synonyms. The lockdown is a mistake; the Holocaust, slavery, communism, fascism, etc., were evils. Massive mistakes are made by arrogant fools; massive evils are committed by evil people.

The forcible prevention of Americans from doing anything except what politicians deem “essential” has led to the worst economy in American history since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It is panic and hysteria, not the coronavirus, that created this catastrophe. And the consequences in much of the world will be more horrible than in America.

The United Nations World Food Programme, or the WFP, states that by the end of the year, more than 260 million people will face starvation—double last year’s figures. According to WFP director David Beasley on April 21: “We could be looking at famine in about three dozen countries. … There is also a real danger that more people could potentially die from the economic impact of COVID-19 than from the virus itself” .

That would be enough to characterize the worldwide lockdown as a deathly error. But there is much more. If global GDP declines by 5 percent, another 147 million people could be plunged into extreme poverty, according to the International Food Policy Research Institute.

Foreign Policy magazine reports that, according to the International Monetary Fund, the global economy will shrink by 3 percent in 2020, marking the biggest downturn since the Great Depression, and the U.S., the eurozone and Japan will contract by 5.9 percent, 7.5 percent and 5.2 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, across South Asia, as of a month ago, tens of millions were already “struggling to put food on the table.” Again, all because of the lockdowns, not the virus.

In one particularly incomprehensible act, the government of India, a poor country of 1.3 billion people, locked down its people. As Quartz India reported on April 22, “Coronavirus has killed only around 700 Indians … a small number still compared to the 450,000 TB and 10,000-odd malaria deaths recorded every year.”

One of the thousands of unpaid garment workers protesting the lockdown in Bangladesh understands the situation better than almost any health official in the world: “We are starving. If we don’t have food in our stomach, what’s the use of observing this lockdown?” But concern for that Bangladeshi worker among the world’s elites seems nonexistent.

The lockdown is “possibly even more catastrophic (than the virus) in its outcome: the collapse of global food-supply systems and widespread human starvation” . That was published in the left-wing The Nation, which, nevertheless, enthusiastically supports lockdowns. But the American left cares as much about the millions of non-Americans reduced to hunger and starvation because of the lockdown as it does about the people of upstate New York who have no incomes, despite the minuscule number of coronavirus deaths there. Or about the citizens of Oregon, whose governor has just announced the state will remain locked down until July 6. As of this writing, a total of 109 people have died of the coronavirus in Oregon.

An example of how disinterested the left is in worldwide suffering is made abundantly clear in a front-page “prayer” by a left-wing Christian in the current issue of The Nation: “May we who are merely inconvenienced remember those whose lives are at stake.”

“Merely inconvenienced” is how the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, a Protestant minister and president of the North Carolina NAACP, describes the tens of millions of Americans rendered destitute, not to mention the hundreds of millions around the world rendered not only penniless but hungry. The truth is, like most of the elites, it is Barber who is “merely inconvenienced.” Indeed, the American battle today is between the merely inconvenienced and the rest of America.

Michael Levitt, professor of structural biology at Stanford Medical School and winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in chemistry, recently stated, “There is no doubt in my mind that when we come to look back on this, the damage done by lockdown will exceed any saving of lives by a huge factor.”

To the left, anyone who questions the lockdown is driven by preference for money over lives. Typical of the left’s moral shallowness is this headline on Salon this week:

“It’s Time To Reject the Gods of Commerce: America Is a Society, Not an ‘Economy,’“ with the subhead reading, “America Is About People, Not Profit Margins.”

And, of course, to smug editors and writers of The Atlantic, in article after repetitive article, the fault lies not with the lockdown but with President Donald Trump. The most popular article in The Atlantic this week is titled “The Rest of the World Is Laughing at Trump.” The elites can afford to laugh at whatever they want. Meanwhile, the less fortunate—that is, most people—are crying.

Why the Wuhan Virus Threatens the Chinese Communist Party’s Imperial Dreams

Austin Bay
May 6, 2020

If it acts, the Free World has the opportunity to condemn another communist dictatorship to Karl Marx’s dustbin of history and avoid a war with a totalitarian superpower circa 2035.

The Chinese Communist Party knows the COVID-19/Wuhan virus pandemic has exposed its imperial war to conquer the world, so it is frantically engaged in psychological and political damage control.

Why? The strategic exposure (a cruel pun) of Beijing’s goal occurs at least 10 years too early. If the CCP and Emperor/President/Dictator Xi Jinping just had another decade of gross domestic product growth; of military modernization; of intellectual property theft; of trade rigging; of bribing crooked EU and American politicians and Ivy League academics; of stroking elite U.S. media; of narrative warfare crafted to undermine democracy and erode free speech—with another 10 to 15 years of unrestricted “all lines of operation” warfare, China could hogtie America and have the military power to dominate Asia and the western Pacific.

If the CCP were to achieve strategic diplomatic, information, military and economic (DIME) power superiority in Asia, the nefarious economic, media, political, academic and cultural lines of operation camouflaging the strategic expansion could be dropped.

Unfortunately, the Wuhan pandemic imperils the CCP’s strategic plan to dominate the globe. Yes, call it the Wuhan pandemic. Damn Obama administration toady Ben Rhodes, who, hair on fire, condemns the moniker as racist. Rhodes is a Beltway clerk with heavy political baggage.

Ebola virus? The Ebola is a river in the Congo. Old Lyme (Lyme disease) is in Connecticut. Rhodes spews CCP narrative warfare tropes. That’s not slander; that’s fact. The disease plaguing us originated in the mainland Chinese city of Wuhan. It’s an origin, not an ethnic slur.

Rhodes gives us as an instructive example of a CCP narrative warfare scheme designed to sow doubt and discord. COVID-19 is an anodyne, antiseptic and distanced name—narrative warfare camouflage, or a distraction to buy time and avoid consequences. Wuhan identifies the perpetrator. The CCP knows anti-Chinese communist sentiment is at its highest level since the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

Which exposes another weakness: The CCP faces discord in China, for the Chinese people know who ordered Tiananmen.

The Daily Telegraph in Australia has published an article based on a 15-page analysis documenting the CCP’s Wuhan virus lies. My summary: China’s government covered up the virus “by silencing” or “disappearing doctors … destroying evidence … and refusing to provide live samples to international scientists” developing vaccines. Bottom-line evil: The CCP knowingly endangered other countries.

The Telegraph report supports U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s ABC News interview during which he said “enormous evidence” exists the pandemic began in a Wuhan bio lab. He added, “China has a history of infecting the world, and they have a history of running substandard laboratories.”

Pompeo did not call the virus a bio weapon—that is, a manmade virus. Incompetence and stupidity by lab personnel likely spread the pathogen.

However, that charge alone undermines the CCP narrative that its system is superior to all others on planet Earth.

The CCP leadership lied about the virus, denied the outbreak and, failing, let it infect the world. CCP calculation: Every other nation must suffer the medical and economic consequences so China’s imperial plan does not suffer a serious setback.

Miscalculation: The pandemic has wreaked global, war-level havoc, but the CCP’s lie has been exposed.

The world must make the CCP pay. The operational trade advantages and intellectual property theft schemes mainland China has exploited since 1978, and definitely since it joined the World Trade Organization in December 2001, must be closed. Mainland Chinese corporations ultimately serve CCP interests, serving as intelligence and economic assets both domestically and internationally. Beijing changed China’s economic structure to comply with WTO requirements. However, the Wuhan virus crisis makes it clear the CCP didn’t change.

So penalize Beijing. Do it for global peace circa 2035.

The Beijing Blowback

Why countries are breaking with the Chinese regime and what it means

James Gorrie
May 6, 2020

One would think that Beijing would see that unleashing a global pandemic is no way to gain favor with the world. Lying about doing so doesn’t help, either; nor does blaming others for the outbreak. And exporting tainted medical supplies to nations asking for help, while criticizing them for failing to protect their people from the pathogen doesn’t make for an effective diplomatic strategy, either.

But that’s the playbook, believe it or not, that Beijing is following in its global campaign to become the new leader of the world. Sure, vigorous propaganda blaming the United States, Italy, etc., is part of the plan, too. But few countries, if any, are buying it. There’s just too much toxicity, in all its forms, coming from Beijing.

Is it any wonder that European countries, and others, are now breaking with China?

The World Falls Out of Love With China

It’s not that the world was in love with China before the pandemic. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had already made great strides toward alienating trading partners around the world.

They did so on a variety of levels, from technology and intellectual property theft to adversarial trading practices, currency manipulation, installing spyware in 5G networks, and much more.

Those are just a few of the reasons why the trend of redirecting supply chains out of China had already begun. President Trump’s massive tariffs on $500 billion worth of Chinese products didn’t help either. They only accelerated the trend, even if putting the United States in a negative light among many European capitals.

But China’s horrific behavior at the beginning of the outbreak has made it—and the CCP—a global pariah. For many countries, the pandemic that the Party unleashed upon the world opened their eyes as to the true nature of the CCP’s outlaw regime. It also showed them how relying on a single supply source has made their economies truly vulnerable.

Beijing’s Bully Mindset Doesn’t Travel Well

What is surprising, however, is how badly the CCP is behaving even after having caused the greatest global calamity since the Second World War. Or, perhaps not. The CCP is not known for its surplus of empathy, compassion, openness, goodwill or any other higher trait of human decency. Contrition, therefore, is not a factor in Beijing’s foreign policy.

It’s quite the opposite, in fact. China’s new breed of diplomats are, with the CCP’s blessing, aggressive, ultra-nationalistic, crude, and dismissive toward their trading partners.

But instead of drawing nations closer to it, China is alienating them, especially the rich Northern European countries:
Sweden has just shut down the very last Confucius Institute and has cut ties with sister cities in China;
The UK and Germany are both re-examining their decision to use Huawei for their nationwide 5G network systems and, along with Australia, are talking about seeking hundreds of billions in reparations from China;
Both the UK and Germany are also concerned about their dependence on China for critical medical supplies and pharmaceuticals;
Distrust of China is deep in Germany that its entire China policy is under review;
France has been targeted by China’s disinformation campaign charging French parliamentarians with issuing racial slurs;
Italy is named and blamed by China as a possible source of the virus;
Spain, Holland, and the Czech Republic publicized defective Chinese masks and testing kits.

Beijing’s bully diplomacy is also backfiring in places such as Australia, which Beijing derogatorily referred to as, “gum stuck to the bottom of China’s shoe,” for wanting an investigation into the origin of the CCP virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus. Fortunately, even with Beijing threatening to boycott their wine and beef, Australia has not backed down.

Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, and the African Union have all complained about the Chinese regime’s racists treatment of Africans in Guangzhou province.

A High Risk Divorce

But where’s the United States on de-coupling from China?

It’s clear that today, the chances for any long-term cooperative partnership between Washington and Beijing are virtually nil. China has shown that it is a strategic adversary to the United States, as well as to the West as a whole. Beijing seeks to reorder the world on its own terms. This plan threatens the wellbeing of the rest of the world and it’s now a plain fact.

That is why the trade war against China was—and continues to be—a necessity. Changing the unbalanced terms was needed to save American manufacturing, U.S. strategic capabilities, its economy, America’s global leadership, and the current international norms, as rickety as they may be. Most of Europe is beginning to agree.

And while Philadelphia’s leadership still sees the need to raise the Chinese flag over city hall in the name of “diversity,” some American universities, like Sweden, are closing down Confucius Institutes on their campuses.

It’s about time.

New China, Old Attitudes

But as the tariffs continue, and global demand continues to fall due to the CCP virus pandemic, economies around the world will suffer. That in itself may well lead to more conflict between the United States and China, as Beijing scrambles for resources, markets and of course, for the CCP’s very survival at home.

China’s new strain of “diplomacy” is what happens when a government starts to believe its own propaganda. But it’s not really new at all. It’s an officially sanctioned position based on old realities, that will make the immediate future more dangerous, not less.

As Zi Zhongyun, an expert on America at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, noted recently, Beijing’s “new” aggression toward the West has its roots in the anti-Western Boxer Rebellion of the early 20th century. As long as that “mentality guides Beijing” policymakers, Zi says, “it will be impossible for China to take its place among the modern civilized nations of the world.”

It would appear that the Beijing blowback goes both ways. Is the world ready to reap that whirlwind?

The Pandemic of Virtue

Bruce Abramson
May 5, 2020

The Chinese Communist Party has given the American—and Western—left a wonderful gift. Never before has it been so easy, so cheap, or so convenient to moralize.

Thanks to the Wuhan coronavirus, our most virtuous citizens are those who sit in a comfortable home, busily teleworking, drawing full salary, and announcing proudly that they’ll persist as long as it takes to ensure our safety. Bonus points to those who’ve taken the extra family time to notice that they do have children who might benefit from some form of bonding in the moments no longer wasted commuting.

As we find ourselves hurtling toward the seventh? (Eighth? Tenth? Who knows? It’s all one big blur) week of our new cultural morality, the time has come to take stock and review some rules.

Staying at home is virtuous. Venturing out creates a rebuttable presumption of ill intent. Law enforcement officers—or even self-appointed neighborhood scolds—should stop and interrogate anyone seen outside engaging in some activity that is not obviously essential.

Caring about sickness and death related to the coronavirus is virtuous. Expressing sympathy for citizens denied transplants, surgeries, and treatments deemed “elective,” or pushed into unemployment, bankruptcy, penury, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, or suicide is callous and selfish.

Embracing the worst-case predictions available at any moment is virtuous. Preferring the methodology of a far more modest predictive model demonstrates an intent to play games with people’s lives. Insisting upon clarity in data definitions, reasonableness in assumptions, or accepted statistical practices in model construction ignores science.

Reporting that existing medications appear to have been useful in helping at least some folks infected with the virus is a dangerous hoax. Speculating that some as yet untested vaccine will immunize the global population is wise and scientific.

Believing that in the presence of a public health crisis, those trained in epidemiology should possess dictatorial powers is virtuous. Suggesting that the opinions of public health officials are merely one of several concerns appropriate to consider before restructuring society is cruel and uncaring.

Of course, that’s not to say that the new allocation of virtue and vice lacks subtlety. It must be overlaid on other important social concerns.

New York proudly ejected a field hospital built, funded, and run on charity dollars (i.e., not at taxpayer expense) rather than accept Christian charity. Some principles are inviolable, even in the face of emergency.

Medical professionals with specializations unrelated to the virus nobly stood aside as hospitals and bureaucrats shut down their practices and denied care to their patients. Unless, of course, their specialization is abortion, in which case they railed against reduced access to their services. Priorities, after all, are priorities.

Hasidic Jews attending the funeral of a revered Rabbi offended New York City’s famously progressive mayor so gravely that he put the entire Jewish community on notice. Gay men flocking to sun themselves on a crowded Christopher Street Pier barely warranted a mention. Because traditionally oppressed groups (like LGBT) deserve sympathy unavailable to traditionally dominant groups (like Hasidim).

Non-essential personnel—from preachers to tattoo artists—received fines and arrests for plying their trade. Fortunately, marijuana dispensaries remain essential. Fathers playing catch with their kids and surfers on the open sea were sanctioned. Restaurants offering takeout and delivery are local businesses worthy of support—as long as they don’t cross the line into criminality by allowing patrons to sit. The virtuous among us call for increased enforcement.

Vile protestors flock to streets, plazas, and state capitols selfishly claiming rights and seeking to restart their lives. Virtuous citizens sitting at home lament their inability to maintain the high behavioral standards of those who sought justice in Ferguson, Baltimore, Charlotte, and elsewhere earlier this decade.

It’s a glorious new morality—to America. In China, whose regime provided progressives with the opportunity to adopt it—it’s old hat. It comes down to a single word: compliance.

The new morality, it turns out, is as old as human history. Our leaders have determined what is necessary to serve the public good. Our job is to comply. Failure to comply—or even willingness to question—marks you as an enemy of the public.

We are hurtling headfirst into very dangerous territory. The scariest thing about it is neither the virus nor the economic shutdown. The true source of terror is the ease with which a majority of Americans seem willing to embrace the reasoning that every one of history’s dictators has forwarded to justify the death of freedom.

The Smoking Gun in the China Virus Caper

By Cliff Kincaid
May 3, 2020

Running for president in 1980, Ronald Reagan was asked for his opinion on the so-called Sino-Soviet split. “They were allies and the only argument that caused their split was an argument over how best to destroy us,” he said of China and the Soviet Union. President Reagan understood Marxist dialectics, a way of writing and talking that confuses non-communists but always works out to the benefit of the communists. Such thinking is evident in media stories about the “accidental” nature of where and how the China virus came to be. You are not permitted to believe that the Communist Chinese would deliberately infect the world.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said last week that the Intelligence Community “concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the COVID-19 virus was not manmade or genetically modified.” Our intelligence agencies have gotten it wrong before. Did they get this one wrong, too?

In order to understand how Communists deceive our intelligence agencies, consider the truth of Reagan’s statement that the Sino-Soviet split was a polemical argument. In fact, a 1965 communist Chinese publication, “The Polemic on the General Line of the International Communist Movement,” is based on the perceived “differences” between the Chinese and Soviet Communist parties. These differences were real in the mind of a communist, since they always preach and practice ideological “struggle,” but irrelevant in terms of their ultimate goal. This is why former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev would still, in the midst of glasnost and perestroika, declare his goal to be the ultimate triumph of world communism.

Our 2015 book, The Sword of Revolution and the Communist Apocalypse, features an interview with a former U.S. intelligence agency official who explained how the Sino-Soviet split deceived U.S. policymakers and weakened the Free World. His perspective was a dissenting view in the CIA and intelligence community bureaucracy.

The idea that the Red Chinese were potential allies was sold by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger under President Nixon and adopted by our intelligence agencies. It was carried forward during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama Administrations and resulted in decades of cooperation with China, even in medical research.

The U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) is directly implicated in the controversial research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), where dangerous experiments were conducted, since it was an official “partner” of the WIV. Harvard biochemist Dr. Charles Lieber, arrested and charged in January with being an agent of China, was backed by the NIH and several Pentagon agencies, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Office of Naval Research, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

This background is necessary to understand the choices we are now being offered by our media and said to be based on findings from own intelligence services – that the virus accidentally escaped from a market selling animals or accidentally escaped from a laboratory working on viruses. We are told by some that the idea of it being a bioweapon is not worthy of consideration. After all, where is the “smoking gun” to prove somebody actually engineered a virus that has killed thousands of people?

But the smoking gun is for all to see: the nature of communism, and the nature of the Red Chinese regime.

What do we know about the Chinese Reds? We know they lie, cheat, and steal in global relations with the U.S. We know the greatest mass murderer in history, Mao, is on their currency. We know they run labor camps full of political dissidents. We know they starve children to death in orphanages. We know that through their one-child per family policy they conducted forced abortions on mothers and forcibly inserted birth control devices into women. They lead the world in abortions, with a total of over 401 million from 1956 through 2018. An officially atheist regime, we know they persecute Christians.

For some reason, despite China’s history of killing hundreds of millions of its own people, it is now supposed to be off-limits to think the regime would deliberately or intentionally release a virus to kill or poison their own people, as well as people around the world. But even the liberal media now concede China lied about the release and nature of the virus and permitted their own infected people to travel the globe before the rest of the world caught on. All of this is assumed to be “accidental?”

We know China’s intent. The only questions at this point are whether people like NIH director Dr. Francis Collins and Dr. Anthony Fauci knew what was going on, and how many millions of dollars their agencies and departments shipped over there for dangerous virus research. In short, what do they know about the nature of this “novel coronavirus” that the public hasn’t been told? What makes it more contagious and lethal than most strains of flu? With talk of a second wave of infections, the death toll could mount into millions of deaths worldwide. They have to be grilled for answers. They have to be called before Congress now.

The carnage caused by the virus raises another issue. Henry Kissinger, as Secretary of State under Nixon, not only was the architect of the policy of cooperating with the Chinese regime but shared the goal of reducing the world’s population. The federal government report National Security Study Memorandum 200: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests (NSSM200) was completed on December 10, 1974, under Kissinger’s direction. The idea was to use foreign aid to reduce the number of people in the world. The use of “climate change” to accomplish the same goal, since people (in the West) live extravagant lifestyles and leave “carbon footprints,” has since taken precedence. But a dangerous virus has served a similar purpose.

At one time, the Roman Catholic Church was a force for the “culture of life” in the world. Anti-communist Pope John Paul II declared the 1994 UN International Conference on Population and Development the “snare of the devil” that functioned to promote a “culture of death” and' “conspiracy against life.”

The Soviet KGB tried but failed to kill Pope John Paul II. He survived but was never the same, in terms of leadership of the church, and a pope in his mold, Benedict XVI, was forced to step down, to make way for the current Pope Francis, a follower of “Mother Earth” who has actually praised China’s “great commitment” to contain the coronavirus.

Henry Kissinger’s April 3 Wall Street Journal column, "The Coronavirus Pandemic Will Forever Alter the World Order,” never once mentions China’s role in the pandemic and instead declares that “No country, not even the U.S., can in a purely national effort overcome the virus” and that only “a global collaborative vision and program” will suffice.

Congress should ignore this globalist nonsense, expose the pro-China policy which made this catastrophe possible, and make sure we are on guard against another such attack. We should remember the words of the great anti-communist Fred Schwarz in his 1972 book, “You can trust the communists to be communists.”

Those in the U.S. political, medical, and scientific establishments who worked with China on these deadly experiments have to be brought to justice.

Australia is “Gum stuck to the bottom of China’s shoe”

By J. R. Nyquist
May 6, 2020

China is falling back on brutal threats, bullying tactics, and invective, to thwart an investigation into the origins of COVID-19. The Atlantic headline on 19 March said, “China is Avoiding Blame by Trolling the World.” But now, China avoids blame by open menace.

It is well known that Chinese officials have covered their tracks in Wuhan. It’s a matter of public record. We still don’t have the full story. We don’t know how the virus became infectious, or how it got out of China’s level-4 virology lab. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says there is plenty of evidence the virus came out of this lab. But Chinese officials continue to deny the facts.

If you criticize China for lying about the virus, expect invective from the Beijing’s state-controlled press. Expect threats, subtle and unsubtle. Expect to have your motives maligned. China’s media puppets will pour raw sewage on anyone who lays out the facts.

Recently the Chinese press has attacked U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo, calling him a liar, an enemy of world peace, and a partisan stooge. China’s Global Times accuses Pompeo of “a vicious attack fueled by politics, intelligence, and diplomacy.” According to the Chinese media, Pompeo’s behavior is “filthy” and “defies the essence of science.”

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison wants an investigation into the origin of the COVID-19 virus. “It would seem entirely reasonable and sensible … to have an independent assessment of how all this occurred….” The Chinese press doesn’t agree. According China’s media, Australia is “gum stuck to the bottom of China’s shoe.” According to the Global Times: “The Morrison government’s adventurism … is in defiance of rational thought and common sense.”

If someone were to invent bullying behavior from a totalitarian state, who could invent better lines than these? Australia is vulnerable to China’s growing military preponderance. If Australia was threatened with invasion by an overstretched Japanese military in 1942, the situation is much worse with regard to a Chinese invasion in 2020.

In raw military terms: China outnumbers Australia at sea 300 to 50 in warships; 5,200 to 309 in warplanes. With regard to land forces, China has over 250 infantry divisions, 8 armored divisions and 17 artillery divisions against Australia’s 12 brigades (a brigade being smaller than a division). Worse yet, Australia has no nuclear weapons while China is a nuclear superpower.

To his credit, Prime Minister Morrison has not backed down — despite subsequent economic bullying from the Chinese ambassador. We have to ask ourselves if China’s behavior toward Australia is reasonable. Is it civilized? What kind of relationship should America have with country that sees our ally as “gum stuck to the bottom of China’s shoe”?

It was a grave mistake of President Nixon to open relations with Communist China, of President Carter to open trade with Communist China, of President Reagan to build up Communist China. We have helped a formidable enemy become a great power. This lack of foresight has landed us in a difficult situation. If we had moral sense to begin with, and if we had been honest, these errors would not have been made; for seeing that China’s leaders were functionaries in a vast system of murder and oppression, we would not have helped them, or partnered with them.

In the coming days we will be subjected to intensive propaganda. China’s business partners in the pharmaceutical and other industries will be applying the screws to our politicians. There is a word for businessmen who push the agenda of a foreign enemy, who set aside patriotic feeling for the sake of corporate profit. This word is “treason.” If anyone thinks Americans have forgotten this word, they are mistaken. If big business continues to take China’s side, then big business in this country will be finished. It will be “gum stuck to the bottom of America’s shoe.”

The same logic applies to politicians who support Chinese initiatives, who support “global governance.” Everyone needs to understand what is coming. It is time to choose sides. It is time to choose wisely.

Why Is a Small, Remote African Country Hit Hard by the CCP Virus?

Six lawmakers in Burkina Faso tested positive for Covid-19

Li Mingxiang
May 7, 2020

Burkina Faso is a small landlocked country located in West Africa. Although the country is not a transportation hub and far away from China, it is hit hard by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus. Among 23 cabinet members, six ministers have contracted the virus.

Burkina Faso spans 273,600 square kilometers, according to World Bank data in 2018. The United Nations estimates that the country’s current population is around 20.8 million. Once a French colony, the country was renamed Burkina Faso, which means “Land of Incorruptible People” in the region’s main native languages, in 1984.
Six Cabinet Ministers Infected With CCP Virus

Burkina Faso had 645 confirmed cases and 43 deaths caused by the CCP virus, as of April 30.

According to African News, Burkina Faso is experiencing one of the highest virus infection rates in sub-Saharan Africa.

So far six government ministers among the country’s 23 cabinet members have been confirmed to be infected, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Mines and Quarries, Education, Interior, and Trade, Reuters reported on April 10.

The country announced its first COVID-19 death on March 17. The patient was 62-year-old Rose Marie Compaore, who was former vice president of parliament.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Alpha Barry confirmed he was infected with the CCP virus on March 20.

The number of confirmed cases probably represent just “the tip of the iceberg,” said Jerry-Jonas Mbasha, an official representing Burkina Faso at the World Health Organization (WHO).

The New Humanitarian, an independent media outlet, revealed that the only testing laboratory in the country is located in Bobo-Dioulasso—the second largest city and a five-hour drive from the capital. This means patient samples across the country will take at least 12 hours before getting diagnostic results.

There is currently only one hospital with 500 beds and one small clinic, each with just a few ventilators, designated to treat patients infected with the CCP virus, according to the report.

The report said the government wants to establish a second laboratory in the capital Ouagadougou, but no one in the country is qualified to set up the equipment.

In the past year, 135 health centers around the country were shut down due to escalating violence by extremist and local militant groups that have forced almost 800,000 people to flee their homes, the report said. The growing number of virus patients could overwhelm the weakened health system, resulting in a public health crisis.

Poor living conditions in Burkina Faso are also a major drawback in battling against the CCP virus. There is a severe water shortage in the country, meaning poor sanitation. Washing hands frequently is one of the key methods of preventing the virus from spreading.

In addition, many refugees live in close quarters, with five to ten people sharing a tent. It is therefore impossible to maintain social distancing.

WHO official Mbasha told the Arabic news outlet Al Jazeera that the international community needs to step in to help prevent a major crisis.

“We need technical and financial partners to come in and protect Burkina Faso,” he said.
Lessons Learned the Hard Way

Countries with close or lucrative relations with the Chinese regime are most affected by the CCP virus. Burkina Faso is no exception.

On May 24, 2018, Burkina Faso announced that it would sever diplomatic relations with Taiwan, which the Chinese regime considers to be part of its territory. Two days later, the African country’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Alpha Barry, signed an agreement with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Since 2016, Beijing has focused on luring away Taiwan’s allies by offering them Chinese investments and loans. Despite Taiwan being a self-ruled island with its own democratically-elected government, Beijing considers Taiwan a renegade province that should be united with the mainland, with military force if necessary.

Burkina Faso and China established a joint economic and trade committee shortly after resuming diplomatic ties. Since then, bilateral trade has rapidly developed, and there have been a number of high-level officials’ visits between both countries.

In September 2018, Burkina Faso’s President, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, paid a state visit to China and attended the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

In January 2019, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi visited four African countries, including Burkina Faso.

In April 2019, the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso made another state visit to China.

In July 2019, when Chinese Vice-Minister of Agriculture Qu Dongyu was elected as the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Qu received “firm support” from Burkina Faso. State-run media China Daily reported that Wang Yi later said, “From now on, China has got another good friend, which is our African allies, inside the international organizations of the United Nations.”

At the U.N. Human Rights Council in 2019, 22 countries condemned the large-scale detention of Uyghurs in China. Meanwhile, more than 50 countries collectively issued a joint statement expressing their support for the Chinese regime. Burkina Faso was one of the countries that chose to support the CCP. Some of the CCP’s supporters included human rights violators, such as Russia, Venezuela, North Korea, Burma (Myanmar), and Cambodia.

The vast majority of African countries are developing countries, and they have been the focus of the CCP’s diplomatic efforts. Beijing influences and manipulates these countries by offering lucrative deals, such as substantial economic assistance, investment, trade, as well as helping with local infrastructure projects.

At present, the African countries with the most virus infections have either close political or economic ties with the Chinese regime, such as Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, and Algeria.

Conversely, Swaziland, now officially known as eSwatini, which is the only country in Africa that has not established formal diplomatic relations with China, has far fewer virus cases. So far, there have been only 100 confirmed cases and one death as of April 30.

In today’s globalized environment, it is quite common to establish diplomatic and trade relations with China. The key issue is whether a nation or an individual is able to understand the true nature of the CCP’s communist ideology, and what stance they take with regard to the CCP’s human rights abuses.

Two typical examples are Hong Kong and Taiwan. Despite close proximity to mainland China, as well as intimate trade and tourism to and from China, these two regions have few confirmed cases and low death tolls. Especially in the case of Hong Kong, large numbers of mainland Chinese entered Hong Kong every day, before the city partially closed its borders to the mainland on March 23. The success of virus containment in Taiwan and Hong Kong can hardly be explained by modern science.

Why is this happening? People of Hong Kong have explicitly said “no” to the CCP by participating in anti-government protests, and people in Taiwan publicly supported Hong Kong’s democratic movement. Taiwan has adopted democratic elections and followed the will of its people to stay away from the CCP.

Burkina Faso, a landlocked African country far away from China, is suffering the bitter fruits of maintaining diplomatic relations with the CCP. It is truly a lesson learned the hard way.

Data Inconsistency Points to the CCP's Decades-Long Pattern of Lies

May 9, 2020 | By Haiming (Minghui.org)

China revised the coronavirus death toll in Wuhan from 2,579 to 3,869 (an increase of 50.02%) on April 17. But many still question the accuracy of the updated number, given the constant lying by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since the pandemic broke out a few months ago.

There have been many pieces of evidence pointing to a much higher death toll. For example, Wuhan residents were told on March 23 to pick up the urns of their loved ones who had died of the virus. In Hankou Funeral Home alone, two truckloads of urns (5,000 in total) were unloaded on March 26-27 to prepare for later distribution.

There were long waiting lines at the funeral homes, where an average of 500 urns per funeral home were scheduled for distribution each day until Qingming Festival (also known as Tomb-sweeping Day, falling on April 4 in 2020). With seven funeral homes in Wuhan, the number of urns distributed over the 13-day period would translate into 45,500 deaths (500 x 7 x 13).

Multiple sources have also confirmed that Wuhan's crematories have been working non-stop over the past few months. On February 3, Huang, a Wuchang Funeral Home employee, revealed to Gu-yu Lab, a Chinese media platform affiliated with Tencent, that beginning January 26, the second day of the Chinese New Year, employees were required to report to work, no exceptions. “We work 24 hours a day. Our four phone lines are operating 24 hours a day, and the staff is exhausted,” Huang said.

Li Zehua, a former host of China Central TV (CCTV), visited Qingshan Funeral Home on February 21 and confirmed Huang’s account of the heavy workload in Wuhan’s crematoriums. Li reported that by the time he left around 11 p.m., the furnaces were still running.

It usually takes one hour for a furnace to cremate one body. Counting the 26 days between January 26 and February 21, and assuming that each of the 74 furnaces (that Wuhan has) worked 24 hours each day, then a total of 46,176 (26 x 24 x 74) bodies could have been cremated.

Li found out that the average number of non-coronavirus-related deaths in Wuhan was 137 per day. Excluding the 3,562 (137 x 26) non-coronavirus-related deaths, the coronavirus deaths during the 26-day period would be 42,614 (46,176 – 3,562), a number on par with the figure of 45,000 derived from the number of urns distributed.

If the death toll was 42,614 in a 26-day period, one may infer that the three-month toll of fatalities in Wuhan would be more than 120,000.

It is apparent that the CCP has been lying about the actual coronavirus casualties. As a matter of fact, this is not the first time that the CCP has been lying since it came to power several decades ago.

Great Chinese Famine

Following the Great Leap Forward, a political campaign aimed at turning China from an agrarian economy into an industrialized nation, a great famine took place in China between 1959 and 1961. Several decades passed and the CCP still considers it taboo to publicize how many people were starved to death during the famine.

Numerous analyses were conducted based on census data. Cao Shuji from The Chinese University of Hong Kong published an article on Chinese Journal of Population Science in 2005 and found the number of unnatural deaths between 1959 and 1961 were at least 33 million.

Frank Dikötter, chair professor of Humanities at the University of Hong Kong, concluded the loss was at least 45 million in his book Mao’s Great Famine.

Tangshan Earthquake

The Tangshan earthquake, a major disaster that happened on July 28, 1976, is another example. The CCP initially announced a death toll of 655,000 and changed it to 240,000 later without any explanation.

However, the coupons needed to buy fabric or food at the time distributed by the government at the end of 1976 hinted at a much higher death toll. Only 650,000 coupons were handed out when around 1.2 million coupons were distributed the year before. Many believe that the difference of 550,000 was closer to the real number of casualties based on independent research.

Deaths Suppressed by Ten-Fold in an Accident

The CCP not only lies about natural and man-made disasters, but also major accidents. An explosion took place in Tianjin in August 2015 and quite a few firefighters died in addition to other casualties. An official report from the CCP mentioned a death toll of 21 firefighters.

According to sources, however, all members of Tianjin's nine fire brigades and three special firefighting teams who had gone to the explosion site died. Each fire brigade consisted of 20 to 30 people and each special firefighting team had at least 15 people. This would make the total death toll between 200 and 300.

Organ Harvesting

Among all the lies by the CCP, the largest one might be those fabricated against practitioners of Falun Gong, a meditation group based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. More than one hundred million people have taken up Falun Gong since it was introduced to the public in 1992.

Fearing its soaring popularity, the CCP made up numerous lies about Falun Gong and launched a nationwide campaign against it in July 1999. Since then, a large number of practitioners have been detained, imprisoned, tortured, or even had their organs harvested for their belief.

Gan Nan, a former customs officer at Beijing Capital Airport, was detained in Xin’an Women’s Forced Labor Camp for the third time in 2001 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. She told of her experience while held at the labor camp.

“We received comprehensive physical examinations including a blood test, X-rays, electrocardiogram (ECG) and cornea inspections,” recalled Gan, who currently lives in Toronto, Canada.

Her experience was not unique. At the now-defunct Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, one of the facilities where Falun Gong practitioners were treated the worst, all practitioners admitted had thorough physical exams in September 2000, and each practitioner was assigned a unique ID. Those with special blood types were highlighted and doctors asked them if they had any genetic diseases in their family.

Evidence that surfaced later would reveal that the CCP detention facilities' thorough medical examinations of Falun Gong practitioners were for the purpose of harvesting organs from healthy, living practitioners to make huge profits.

According to one witness who revealed the following in 2006, “My ex-husband did cornea removal. At the beginning, he didn’t know whether those people had been granted permission. People who were on operation tables were not conscious. They were alive. He knew it after performing a few. He said that the person who asked him to do this kind of thing told him: you are already on this boat. Killing one is murder. Killing several is also murder. He said that later on he also knew that the people were alive. Where the organs and corpses were sent, he didn’t ask.”

According to a military doctor in Shenyang Military region, there were 36 military concentration camps in China. Among them, held over 120,000 inmates at one time and the majority of them were Falun Gong practitioners. “The Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee decided to treat Falun Gong practitioners as 'class enemies' and handle them in any manner that was economically profitable. In other words, Falun Gong practitioners were no longer regarded as human beings, but as raw material for commercial products,” he explained.

Practitioner Gan was fortunate to have fled China, but many other practitioners remain missing or may have long perished after their organs were harvested.

According to Guo Guoting, a lawyer who currently lives overseas and defended Falun Gong practitioners while he was still in China, said that many practitioners had gone missing. One example was Huang Xiong, a student of the renowned Shanghai Jiaotong University. “We searched everywhere and could not find his information,” explained Guo.

To avoid further persecution or implicating others, practitioners who were detained often refused to report their names or residence. As a result, many of them were sent to Tianjin or northeast China, where they may have become unwilling victims of organ harvesting.

The Independent Tribunal Into Forced Organ Harvesting from Prisoners of Conscience in China (the China Tribunal), led by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC – a prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia – was established in London to investigate accusations of forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience in China.

The tribunal announced its findings on June 17, 2019. The panel concluded that the CCP has been harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in China for many years and that this brutality still continues today.

While the CCP publicly announced in 2015 that it would stop sourcing organs from executed prisoners, research shows that it is still falsifying organ donation numbers. BMC Medical Ethics published an article titled “Analysis of official deceased organ donation data casts doubt on the credibility of China’s organ transplant reform” on November 14, 2019. The authors studied China's official organ donation data and found “highly compelling evidence they are being falsified.”

Political Stability Comes Before Public Health in China

May 9, 2020 | By Qin Yu (Minghui.org) [Excerpt]

While Western countries allocated funds to boost medical supplies and send relief packages to individuals and small businesses to help them cope with the coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) gave a huge amount of money to the police force, internet army, and security personnel at all levels for them to maintain stability, rather than fighting the virus.

A large number of police, auxiliary police, community workers, and militia brigades were often seen patrolling on the streets and sometimes pulling people out of their homes for forced quarantine. They often wore higher-quality personal protective equipment than what was given to front-line doctors and nurses.

It was reported last year that the CCP spent more than 1.3 trillion yuan on domestic security, and this number is only expected to be higher, given the above measures they’ve taken and their expanded disinformation campaign and censorship during the pandemic.

Other funds have been allocated for pay raises for military officers and the internet army so that they can better serve the CCP.

Pay Raise in the Military

The CCP increased the salaries of army officers by a large margin. The raise is a reflection of the CCP's firm belief that “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun” and that the army is its “bodyguard,” which also enjoys more privileges than civilian sectors.

According to reports on April 18, 2020, a corporal gets pay raise of 5,750 yuan, sergeant 7,820 yuan, staff sergeant 10,120 yuan, sergeant first class 12,420 yuan, lieutenant 10,360 yuan, captain 11,270 yuan, major 13,340 yuan, lieutenant colonel 17,020 yuan, colonel 26,070 yuan, senior colonel 29,440 yuan, and major general 34,270 yuan.

Compared to the military officials, the monthly minimum wage for a migrant worker in Shanghai is only 2,300 yuan or 2,200 yuan in Beijing.

The “50-cent Army” Is Now the “70-cent Army”

China has a huge internet army, hired by propaganda departments at various levels to manipulate and control public opinion. The internet army, often referred to as the “50-cent army” (each post is paid 50 cents), mostly consists of ordinary citizens.

Their main task is to promote the CCP's political agenda by supporting pro-government postings, obscuring the truth, manipulating public opinion, and guiding public sentiment in favor of the CCP, as well as fabricating lies and spreading fake news.

A supervisor may require his/her internet army members to give “thumbs up” to a particular post, or to put a piece of fake news or video on the most-searched list.

One of such postings on WeChat said: “The epidemic in the U.S. is worsening. Each state is fighting the coronavirus on their own and they are running out of resources. The most likely outcome is that each state secedes from the federation and seeks help from China. The collapse of the Soviet Union 29 years ago will happen again in the US.......In addition, some states will apply to join China, becoming a member of the Chinese Socialist Republic. Under the leadership of the Chinese Socialist Republic, the world will no longer have any war, and humankind will return to peace.”

In order to stimulate the performance of the “50-cent army,” payment per post was reported to have been increased to 70 or 80 cents.

Ahhhhhh........THE GOOD OLD DAYS when Soviet Socialist propaganda was CRUDE AND RUDE AND LAUGHABLE!

Isnt it nice to know that Red China has returned to the LIES of the Soviet Pravda era!

In the good old days - Pravda - the official MOUTHPIECE of the Soviet Union - routinely told its readers that life in United States

was so BAD that the people were all ALCOHOLICS!

And Pravda INSISTED that Coca Cola was a fermented drink that was stronger than Vodka!

But TASTED MUCH WORSE because the capitalist Swine Bosses were to CHEAP to use good quality ingredients!

And then Pravda would supply photos of Yankees staggering out of super markets carrying cases of Coke!

And of course the PREVALENCE of Coke and its Pepsi competitor in so many markets was supposed to convince

the Good Comrades that the West was a vast prison camp that only alcohol could render endurable!

Defeating Nazis But Helping the New Nazis

By Cliff Kincaid
May 8, 2020

On the day commemorating the Nazi defeat in Europe, the new Nazis – the Chinese Communists – march ahead, making money from suffering, misery, and death. They are tightening the screws on America, as the bodies pile up and millions lose their jobs. President Trump is promising a better year in 2021, assuming he can win re-election.

Meanwhile, Americans fight among themselves, unsure of what the virus actually is or what it can do, and questioning the government’s response. Both sides lose sight of the real enemy in Beijing, which unleased the virus on America and figures to come out on top of the New World Order.

Bloomberg reports that sales of medical gear likely aided China’s April export numbers. In other words, the Communist regime was profiting from the death it inflicted on the world through the release of the coronavirus. Do we need any more evidence that this is a bloodthirsty and Nazi-like regime whose insatiable quest for power has to be countered and stopped?

President Trump says about the coronavirus: “This is really the worst attack we’ve ever had. This is worse than Pearl Harbor. This is worse than the World Trade Center. There’s never been an attack like this. And it should have never happened. It could have been stopped at the source – it could have been stopped in China. It should have been stopped right at the source, and it wasn’t.”

So why is the Trump Administration apparently going forward with a trade deal with the enemy?

The Wall Street Journal reports that the top trade negotiators for the U.S. and China talked on the phone Friday, “pledging to create favorable conditions for the phase one trade deal….” But Trump contradicted that later on, saying he has doubts. Can’t we figure out who the enemy is? Do we need more proof?

When he says coronavirus was worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11, he’s right. The difference is that in those cases, Democrats and Republicans joined together to face the threat. In the case of coronavirus, Trump (and a few of his allies) have been the only ones willing, until now, to put pressure on China for killing our people with the coronavirus. He’s called it the “invisible enemy,” but it has a face and name – Chinese dictator Xi Jinping and his Red Guard wannabes. Worse yet, the Red Chinese used money from our own National Institutes of Health to manufacture this and other deadly viruses in the notorious Wuhan lab. Our top federal doctors should lose their jobs over this alone.

Have we become paper tigers in the face of this danger, content to squabble with the Beijing bureaucrats about how many soybeans they’ll buy from America’s farmers?

On a day when President Trump and first lady Melania Trump commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe, the U.S. is dickering with the Chinese communists, who have killed and poisoned tens of thousands of our people, about agricultural products. We look ridiculous.

Why on earth would the U.S. proceed with a trade deal with such a foe? Instead, of talking trade deals, the U.S. should be going on a war footing so that we can eventually take revenge on the butchers of Beijing. Trump could and should use his emergency powers, including the Defense Production Act, to quietly assemble our own stable of dangerous germs as a deterrent to Beijing’s further aggression.

If we don’t wake up and quickly, the Reds will mow us down like those demonstrators for liberty in Tiananmen Square.

We are facing a determined adversary every bit as threatening in its potential military power as Nazi Germany. This is a regime that has killed millions more than the Nazis ever did. Most of them were inside China. But we are now seeing the bodies pile up around the world, and they all carry the body bag sticker, “Made in China.”

How many deaths will it take for America to recognize Red China as our enemy? Are we prepared to sit back and get hit again, with another virus attack? Will we then tolerate 50-60 million unemployed and another hundred thousand dead?

Yesterday the White House held a National Day of Prayer to ask for Divine help and guidance. God’s help is always needed. But this is not the time to be loving our enemies. This is the time to mount an aggressive defense against future attacks and to convince the Red Chinese authorities that we are prepared to unleash hell on them unless they close down not only their grotesque wet markets but their dangerous bio weapon labs.

America was the major player in defeating the Nazis. Are we up to the current task?

The Reds lied about the nature of the virus and covered-up its release from China into the U.S. and the world. This was calculating on their part. They know what it is capable of and don’t want us to know. One thing we do know is that the latest study from a respected independent body of public health experts in Hong Kong proves the virus is far more contagious than the ordinary flu and previous viruses. It could mean the virus was engineered to be more lethal and debilitating.

Faced with this threat, President Trump couldn’t take a chance. This finding demonstrates that he was right to acquiesce to demands to close down sectors of the economy. It could have killed millions in America, rather than just tens of thousands. It also can mean, however, that he is taking a risk in approving the reopening of the economy as long as the virus lingers and we don’t really know who has it.

China has us where it wants us. Let’s don’t dicker about soybeans when our survival is still on the line.

Cut through the social media censorship and demand that the politicians name the enemy and propose a strategy for victory over that enemy. The life you save may be your own. Don’t go to your grave without doing everything possible to avoid the Chinese digging America’s grave. It’s time to act.

Partnering with the CCP is Opening Pandora’s Box

May 5, 2020. By Zheng Yan, (Minghui.org)

In China, people used to believe in the harmony of heaven, earth, and man, and they valued virtue and focused on spiritual enlightenment. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) came to power several decades ago, it replaced traditional culture with violence, hatred, and deceit.

When China opened its doors in the 1970s, Western countries viewed it as an opportunity to help bring democracy to China while reaping economic benefits by partnering with China. The idea of democracy in China turned out to be wishful thinking, but Western countries never stopped trading with China, which enabled China to grow into the second largest economy in the world and to become a global influence, both financially and politically.

As the coronavirus rages throughout the world, many have begun to see how the CCP’s cover-up has turned an epidemic into a global pandemic, and how partnering with the CCP for economic benefits is like opening Pandora’s box.

The CCP Is a Cancer

Medical science describes cancer as a progressive disease, that might begin with a localized benign tumor to an “early stage cancer”, that then invades nearby tissues, and eventually spreads to other organs and the entire body. An examination of the CCP’s history indicates that, through the years after it took root and grew in China, it has metastasized all over the world.

The CCP was founded in 1921 and modeled after the former Soviet Union. When the Soviet Union carried out the Great Purge in the 1930s (with a death toll of about one million), unknown to the world at the time, the founding CCP members looted wealthy landlords in the countryside and ravaged cities in an action they called “revolution.” Although this ran counter to China’s traditional culture, the short-term gain and greed for power nonetheless attracted a significant portion of Chinese citizens. The CCP cancer, with a genetic material of class struggle and hatred, began to take shape in China and continued to grow in the years that followed.

During the land reform in the 1950s, the CCP nationalized the land and labeled landlords “enemies of the state.” In the Three-Anti and Five-Anti campaigns, it seized capital and assets in the cities, labeling business owners “enemies of the state.” In the Anti-Rightist Campaign, the regime successfully forced intellectuals to abandon their values and integrity and yield to the Party unconditionally.

The CCP continued to lie in 1959 during the Great Leap Forward, when it boasted crop production 150 times higher than normal. With the inflated number, farmers were forced to turn in their harvests to the government, which exported most of the crops and left little for domestic consumption. The resulting famine caused about 45 millions deaths between 1959 and 1961 alone.

If that were not enough, then communist leader Mao Zedong launched another wave of campaigns in the mid-1960s to attack traditional Chinese culture. Known as the Cultural Revolution, within a few years, it nearly wiped out the spiritual elements that had inspired Chinese civilization for thousands of years, ranging from literature and art to education and everyday life.

These tragedies were man-made disasters driven by the CCP’s greed for power and wealth. Contrary to what the Chinese people had expected, the country’s land and much of the capital and assets were nationalized and essentially owned by high-ranking Party officials.

While the CCP filled its pockets by looting the “haves,” it prohibited the “have nots” from using the same strategy to gain wealth and challenge its legitimacy. This contradiction shows that the communism theory is fundamentally flawed.

In just a few short decades, the CCP has brought Chinese people hunger (famines such as in 1959-1961), disease (such as the mishandling of SARS and the coronavirus), loss of assets, loss of culture, and death.

Metastasis to Western Countries

“There is only one way in which the murderous death agonies of the old society and the bloody birth throes of the new society can be shortened, simplified and concentrated, and that way is revolutionary terror,” wrote Karl Marx in 1848.

Just how lethal the recipe for communism is probably exceeds what Marx was aware of. Antonov Ovesyenko, whose father led the Bolshevik storming of the Winter Palace in 1917, said the number of people killed as a result of the communist conquest of Russia stood at 100 million. The Khmer Rouge killed 2-3 million people out of Cambodia’s population of 7 million. The CCP was also responsible for more than 80 million unnatural deaths. The killings were not surprising given that communist entities survive and thrive on violence since they terrorize opposing forces to maintain their own power.

This genetic material of communism allows it to multiply. In Marx’s words, it is to “liberate the proletariat and therewith all society,” which in the modern era translates to “multilateral collaboration” for the CCP. More specifically, the current CCP leadership refers to it as the “community of human destiny.” In cancer pathology, that “multiplication” is metastasis.

Motivated by the hope for a better China along with economic incentives, however, Western countries ignored communism’s manufactured tragedies and decided to collaborate with China.

As described in previous articles on Minghui.org, even before the Cultural Revolution ended, then U.S. President Richard Nixon bent his principles and visited China in 1972, followed by the establishment of full diplomatic relations with China in January 1979. With the granting of most-favored-nation (MFN) status, as well as the Agreement on Cooperation in Science and Technology signed in 1979, hundreds of joint research projects and cooperative programs were launched between the two countries.

Although a bill in the U.S. legislature was introduced after the Tiananmen Massacre in 1989 to link China’s human rights condition with MFN status, it was rarely enforced, and China’s status was usually unconditionally extended under pressure from U.S. businesses. With help from the U.S. and other Western countries, China’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 allowed it nearly unlimited access to deliver communist genes to essentially the entire world.

Infiltration and Damage

The CCP has infiltrated the world deeply and comprehensively.

According to Trading Economics, 19% of U.S. imports come from China, more than any other country. This represented $472 billion in 2019. Similarly, research at Michigan State University showed that New York State imported $23 billion from China in 2018, far beyond any other country, while export to China ranked 8th and was less than $3.5 billion.

This severe trade imbalance has boosted China’s economy and negatively affected manufacturing and resulted in job losses in the U.S.. More importantly, it gives China huge leverage to pressure U.S. businesses to influence U.S. policy on China. When Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan visited Beijing in 1994, he told Chinese leaders, “We’re willing to provide as much assistance as we can, to your central bank, in those technical areas, in which we have many years of experience.”

In the past 20-plus years, Wall Street financial groups have encouraged Americans to invest in Chinese businesses, while large financial firms underwrite transactions for Chinese firms that trade with the U.S.

In addition, Bloomberg decided to add 364 onshore Chinese bonds to the Barclays Global Aggregate Index over 20 months starting on April 1, 2019. Analysts estimate that full inclusion would attract around $150 billion of foreign inflows into China’s roughly $13 trillion bond market. Later on, MSCI ACWI ex-U.S., one of many equity indexes developed by MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International) Inc., announced in November 2019 that it would increase the weighting of China “A” shares in certain MSCI indexes to up to 20%. Similarly, FTSE Russell, the world’s second-largest index company, announced on February 21, 2020, that it would increase Chinese stocks’ weighting on equity indexes, echoing the move by MSCI.

Such moves not only affect the stability and national security of the U.S. but also make for uncertainty in ordinary American households. Based on an article in Foreign Policy on January 14, 2020, 55 percent of Americans own stock, with most relying on professionally managed pension funds, mutual funds, and retirement accounts. “Global bond indexes that have started adding Chinese government bonds to their benchmarks… these major shifts in fund allocations could automatically grow U.S. portfolio investment in Chinese companies and government securities to more than $1 trillion by the end of 2021, without the active consent or knowledge of most Americans,” wrote a foreignpolicy.com article titled “Americans Are Investing More in China—and They Don’t Even Know It.”

CCP infiltration into the U.S. also goes deep in propaganda (such as Beijing’s news media outlets in the U.S. as part of its “soft power”), education (such as Confucius Institutes), communities, and organizations (such as the UN and WHO, with the latter viewed as the CCP’s puppet in the coronavirus pandemic). For details, refer to a recent review article on Minghui.

European countries have also played a crucial role in helping the CCP to gain power while ignoring its poor human rights record. For example, Spain was the first EU country to have a foreign minister visit Beijing after the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre and later helped to lift the EU arms embargo against China. Spain is a founding member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and has participated in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) summits, an effort by the CCP to expand globally. In addition, Telefónica, one of the largest telephone operations and mobile network providers in the world, has invested heavily in Huawei’s 5G equipment, while Spain’s help made it possible for the CCP to extend the BRI to Latin America.

Italy is so far the only G7 country to have signed on to the CCP’s BRI, ignoring opinions from its Western partner countries. “The Chinese have essentially bought the port of Piraeus, outside Athens,” reported The New York Times on March 30, 2019. The new deals with China “will now also allow it access to critical Italian ports, like Genoa and another in Trieste, which has a rail link reaching right into the heart of Central Europe.”

When Boris Johnson became the U.K.’s prime minister in July 2019, he said his government would be very “pro-China.” In addition to supporting the CCP’s BRI, he claimed that Britain would be “the most open economy in Europe” for Chinese investments. “Don’t forget [we are] the most open international investment [destination], particularly [for] Chinese investment. We have Chinese companies coming in to do Hinkley, for instance, the big nuclear power plant,” he added. Furthermore, Britain was the first Western country to join the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

As the coronavirus spreads from China to the rest of the world, the abovementioned regions were among the hardest hit, despite their geographic distance from China. To chart a safe path forward, it may be time to rethink our relationship with the CCP.

Finding a Solution

In contrast to the 1970s or 1980s, when there still seemed to be hope for openness and democracy in China, today’s incentives for Western countries are largely driven by profits while ignoring China’s human rights violations.

In the U.S. Department of State 2019 Human Rights Report, China was found to be continuing its campaign of mass detention of minorities. “Significant human rights issues included: arbitrary or unlawful killings by the government; forced disappearances by the government; torture by the government; arbitrary detention by the government; harsh and life-threatening prison and detention conditions; political prisoners; arbitrary interference with privacy; substantial problems with the independence of the judiciary; physical attacks on and criminal prosecution of journalists, lawyers, writers, bloggers, dissidents, petitioners, and others as well as their family members; censorship and site blocking; interference with the rights of peaceful assembly and freedom of association, including overly restrictive laws that apply to foreign and domestic…”

This report also mentioned the persecution of Falun Gong, a meditation discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Despite the enormous mental and physical benefits its practitioners have experienced, the CCP has been suppressing the group since July 1999. A large number of practitioners have been detained, imprisoned, and tortured. Some have become victims of the forced organ harvesting.

Despite the suppression of speech and belief in China—as well as omnipresent censorship—Falun Gong is one of the few groups openly safeguarding the freedom of belief.

We may want to take a cue from Falun Gong practitioners and stand up to the CCP’s tyranny. Social and economic distancing from the CCP may lead to a path that guides us out of the nightmare of Pandora’s box.

Australia Curbs CCP Virus Outbreak by Decoupling From the Chinese Regime(Comparing with Canada--Ellanjay)

Commentary by Ling Xiaohui
May 25, 2020

Health officials in the Australian state of New South Wales announced on March 12 that they expected 20 percent of the state’s eight million residents to be infected by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.

Extrapolating from this data model, up to 5.1 million people in all of Australia could have been hit by the first wave of a nationwide outbreak presumably lasting between 12 and 22 weeks.

However, more than two months later, the total confirmed cases of CCP virus infection in Australia was 7,079, and there were 100 deaths, as of May 20.

The difference between the estimated number and the actual number is stark.

An Effective Way to Contain the CCP Virus

In a COVID-19 webinar held by the Australian Academy of Health and Medical science on April 29, infectious disease expert Sharon Lewin attributed this low fatality rate to Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s decision to bar or quarantine travellers from China starting Feb. 1. University of Melbourne Professor Shitij Kapur, who led the panel, agreed with Lewin’s point. He compared Australia’s result with that of Canada. He said, “For the first 16 days of this pandemic we were within 10 cases of each other … And then something changed in late March.”

“Today Canada has 45,000 cases, and we have 6000. Just a month ago we both had 4000, so that tells us how quickly all of this could have changed,” Kapur said.

The conclusions of the experts above were drawn based on visible phenomena, knowing that the CCP’s concealment of the outbreak has caused the spread of the virus worldwide.

I would suggest another factor in Australia’s unexpectedly lower number that may be just as, if not more, important: decoupling from the CCP and disclosing the truth about the source of the CCP virus.

The Australian government and media exposing the CCP’s infiltration and threats have prevented the Chinese regime from further meddling in the country’s affairs. Recently, the Australian government’s determination to investigate the source of the virus is essential to containing the pandemic. This is a critical move to expose the fact that the pandemic was caused by the CCP’s initial coverup of the outbreak.

A Push for Independent Investigation

Morrison is determined to push ahead with calls for a global inquiry into the origins of the deadly virus for two purposes. He insists that Australia is committed to an investigation into the spread and origins of the CCP virus. With the investigation, the role of the World Health Organization (WHO) is under scrutiny for its slow response during the early outbreak.

Morrison wasted no time in seeking support for an international investigation into the pandemic—he made overnight phone calls to U.S. President Donald Trump, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Morrison believes that an independent inquiry is a fairly obvious and common-sense suggestion. After all, since the outbreak was reported to the WHO on Dec. 31, the virus has caused more than 3.9 million infections and more than 270,000 deaths worldwide.

According to the South China Morning Post, government records from Nov. 17, 2019 suggest that the first confirmed case may have been a 55-year-old Hubei resident.

When the world is anxious to learn the truth about the CCP virus, the regime responds with paranoia. Chinese ambassador Cheng Jingye warned that Australia’s pursuit of a global COVID-19 probe could spark a Chinese boycott of Australian tourism and agriculture.

In response to the explicit threat from Chinese ambassador Cheng, Trade Minister Simon Birmingham said the comments were “disappointing” and that the government’s position would not change.

“Australia is no more going to change our policy position on a major public health issue because of economic coercion or threats of coercion, than we would change our policy position in matters of national security,” Birmingham said.

The Trade Minister also confirmed the head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Frances Adamson, had called the ambassador to discuss his comments.

On April 27, Foreign Minister Marise Payne also rejected “any suggestion that economic coercion is an appropriate response to a call for such an assessment, when what is needed is global cooperation.”

Health Minister Greg Hunt said an independent inquiry was in the interests of Australia and the world.

Spokesperson for foreign affairs Penny Wong also said that the opposition Labor Party supports the government’s calls. “The world wants to understand the origin of COVID-19, and the world is entitled to understand that,” Wong said, adding that the inquiry was “the right thing to do” for humanity.

Labor leader Anthony Albanese also backed the government’s calls for a review into the origins of the virus. He was quoted in PerthNow as saying “It’s important that an element of that relationship be transparency. Australia wants a positive relationship with China but it’s got to be built on a level of trust and transparency.”

The Daily Telegraph in Australia published an article referencing a 15-page dossier compiled by the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance, saying the document shows that “China deliberately covered up evidence of the virus [COVID-19] early on in a pure case of negligence.” The document states that China’s secrecy amounted to an “assault on international transparency.”

Speaking to CNBC, Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the EU’s executive arm, said she would like to see China work together with her organization, and others, to get to the bottom of exactly how it emerged.

The spread of the virus and even the development into a pandemic was caused precisely by the CCP’s concealment of the outbreak since the beginning. The global request for an investigation of the source of the virus is for good reasons. The Australian government’s firm request for the investigation is clearly probing into the crimes of the CCP, and the CCP knows it well.

Recognize the Evil of the CCP

On April 28, Peter Hartcher of The Sydney Morning Herald wrote an opinion article: “Ambassador Cheng Jingye has done Australia a great service” and “shown us the true face of the Chinese government’s feeling for Australia.”

“The Chinese Communist Party for years has been working systematically to undermine Australia’s sovereignty. To ‘take over’ our political system, in the words of Australia’s former national security adviser and ASIO chief, Duncan Lewis.

“But the Chinese regime always kept the smiling mask of friendship in place.

“President Xi Jinping told Australia’s Parliament in 2014 that the two countries should be harmonious neighbours who stick together in both good times and bad times.

“Well, the bad times are now upon us, courtesy of the made-in-China pandemic. And what has China’s official representative in Canberra done? Ambassador Cheng has openly threatened Australia with trade boycotts.”

“He said the idea of an inquiry was ‘dangerous.’

“As for the foolishness of Cheng’s position, it’s threefold.

“First, he’s been foolish enough to expose the reality of Beijing’s intentions towards Australia. The CCP seeks dominance, through any means possible.

“But, to now, the party’s functionaries have delivered their threats and pressure tactics in private and coercion has never been declared openly. Now we all see the truth—there is no goodwill, only gangsterism.

“Second, ‘it’s a pretty inept piece of Wolf Warrior diplomacy because he’s huffing and puffing after the house has already blown down—China has already done more damage to our economy than any boycotts could,’ says Rory Medcalf, head of the ANU’s National Security College.

“And third, Cheng’s comments are foolish because an open attempt to intimidate Morrison can only serve to rally Australia around the Prime Minister.”

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg described China’s latest criticisms of Australia as ludicrous.

“We won’t bow to economic coercion, we will continue to talk up in Australia’s national interest and we won’t trade off health outcomes for economic outcomes,” he told Sky News.

Previously, reports of Chinese government-backed global property giant Greenland Group and Chinese-owned Risland Australia shipped tons of supplies of essential medical items back to China through January and February.

What has caused the turning point in Australia’s outbreak?

Yuanhua Li, a scholar residing in Australia, commented that the global outbreaks have the general public and the government of Australia awakening to the CCP’s lies and gangster-like behavior.

Indeed, the disaster caused by the CCP’s lies has a corrosive effect on Australia. It has clearly demonstrated the speedy awakening of the entire nation.

Decoupling From the CCP Is Decoupling From the CCP Virus

It can be seen that countries and regions that are close to the CCP have had bigger problems with the CCP virus than those who are not close. This is no coincidence.

Decoupling from the CCP is being considered by many countries now. Separating from the CCP economically, strategically, and morally makes sense on many levels.

For Chinese people, decoupling from the CCP takes the form of withdrawing from its party organizations, namely, the Chinese Communist Party, the Communist Youth League, and the Young Pioneers. They view withdrawing and decoupling as the best ways to protect themselves from the consequences of the various evils begotten by the CCP—including the CCP virus.

More than 356 million Chinese people have withdrawn from the above CCP organizations.

For anyone in any country, to disavow and denounce the CCP—whether out loud or simply in one’s heart—is to take a big step toward a positive future, especially at this critical juncture.

Did Dr. Fauci Fund the Research that Led to Coronavirus Outbreak?

By Bryan Fischer
May 11, 2020

The blaring headline in Newsweek: DR. FAUCI BACKED CONTROVERSIAL WUHAN LAB WITH U.S. DOLLARS, FOR RISKY CORONAVIRUS RESEARCH.

Did Dr. Anthony Fauci fund, with American taxpayer dollars, the research that produced the coronavirus that has shut down and locked up the mightiest and most free nation in history? The answer is, “Probably yes.” Should he have known better? The answer is, “Indubitably yes.”

Dr. Fauci has been virtually worshiped as an icon by the press and the public, has been played by Brad Pitt on Saturday Night Live, and is being considered for Sexiest Man of the Year. According to Newsweek, he is something of “an American folk hero for his calm, steady leadership” during the crisis.

Just last year, Dr. Fauci, who heads up the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, sent the scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) a boatload of money to pursue gain-of-function research on bat viruses, research which has been going on at Wuhan for years. “Gain-of-function” refers to research that involves manipulating viruses in the lab “to explore their potential for infecting humans.”

Writes Newsweek: “Gain-of-function techniques have been used to turn viruses into human pathogens capable of causing a global pandemic.” The catastrophic risks, should one of these manipulated viruses escape containment, are obvious.

The U.S. Embassy warned in January of 2018 that the Wuhan Institute had a record of shoddy practices that could lead to an accidental release. According to its cable, “The new lab has a serious shortage of appropriately trained technicians and investigators, needed to safely operate this high-containment laboratory.”

The Obama administration was so alarmed by worries about an outbreak that they suspended support for this kind research at Wuhan in 2014. But when Trump took office, Fauci was able to persuade somebody in the new administration to resume the project in 2017. The second tranche of multi-million dollar funding came in 2019, and this stash was particularly devoted to understanding how bat coronaviruses could mutate to attack humans. The National Institutes of Health canceled this project for a second time on April 24, just two weeks ago. Dr. Fauci has not responded to Newsweek’s request for comment.

Richard Ebright, an infectious disease expert at Rutgers University, said the project description refers to experiments which are designed to enhance the ability of bat coronavirus to infect human cells through genetic engineering. The risk of causing a pandemic through an accidental release from the lab is obviously a prime concern. Our intelligence agencies now believe the pandemic outbreak may have emerged “accidentally” due to “unsafe laboratory practices” at the Wuhan lab.

This research at WIV, research funded with our tax dollars, was dedicated to deliberately creating a version of a bat virus that could be transmitted to humans. The insane purpose here was ostensibly to develop such a virus so it could be studied and a therapeutic response developed before it caused a worldwide pandemic. This kind of research is so obviously crazy and dangerous that 200 research scientists wrote a letter pleading that such foolish and potentially lethal research be terminated.

But Dr. Fauci sent $3.7 million to the WIV lab in 2014, and then showered the Chinese scientists at this lab with another $3.7 million in 2019 to keep their work going, the work of developing a bat virus that could attack people. Two back-to-back 5-year projects that took $7.4 million out of taxpayer pockets and out of the United States.

When the NIH ended Obama’s moratorium on this research, and the second phase of research began, NIH established a framework to determine how the research would go forward. The heart of the framework was that scientists would have to get approval from a panel of experts who would decide whether the obvious risks were justified.

The kicker here is that these reviews were conducted in secret. After Science magazine discovered that NIH had approved two influenza projects using gain-of-function methods, scientists rightly opposed to this kind of research wrote a scathing editorial in the Washington Post.

The authors were Tom Inglesby of Johns Hopkins and Mark Liptsitch of Harvard. “”We have serious doubts about whether these experiments should be conducted at all. With deliberations kept behind closed doors, none of us will have the opportunity to understand how the government arrived at these decisions or to judge the rigor and integrity of that process.”

Dr. Fauci began working in earnest on gain-of-function research over a decade ago, in connection with bird-flu viruses. The research involved taking wild viruses and passing them through live animals until they mutated into a form that could actually pose a pandemic threat. These researchers would take a virus, that was poorly transmitted among humans, and turn it into one that was highly transmissible.

Ferrets were the animals of choice. Ferrets were deliberately infected and researchers allowed the virus to mutate in the lab’s ferret colony. The mutations continued, until the virus was able to infect a ferret, that had not been deliberately infected with the disease.

Researcher Ron Fouchier of Erasmus University in Holland knew he had succeeded, when a virus jumped from an infected ferret to an uninfected ferret in an adjacent cage, who had had no contact with the infected animal. Transmissibility had been achieved, and Fauchier had created a pandemic-causing virus in his lab. Fouchier’s work, wrote Harvard epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch in the journal Nature in 2015, “entails a unique risk that a laboratory accident could spark a pandemic, killing millions.”

A consortium of 17 scientists, the Cambridge Working Group, issued a statement of protest, that was eventually endorsed by above-mentioned 200 scientists, because well, accidents happen. Here’s how the statement read in part: “Laboratory creation of highly transmissible, novel strains of dangerous viruses…poses substantially increased risks. An accidental infection in such a setting could trigger outbreaks that would be difficult or impossible to control.”

Fauci defended this kind of research in a 2011 op-ed in the Washington Post, writing that “information gained through biomedical research…provides a critical foundation…for generating countermeasures, and, ultimately protecting the public health.”

Bottom line: it appears that dangerously misguided research in Wuhan, funded by U.S. taxpayer dollars under the direction of Dr. Fauci, created the virus that is now plaguing the world. The research was allowed to continue by Dr. Fauci, despite warnings from 200 prominent scientists that such research was exceedingly dangerous. It may be time to ask whether Dr. Fauci is in the right place at the right time.
