Ottawa’s debt headed for ‘previously inconceivable’ $1 trillion

We have already heard that Canada’s deficit will likely hit a record this year, but now one think-tank is warning that the federal net debt is headed for the “previously inconceivable” level of $1 trillion.
The C.D. Howe Institute said in a note this week that however necessary Ottawa’s aid may have been on the way into this crisis, , “it is becoming clear that we cannot afford this level of spending for as long as the coronavirus may be with us.”
(Yes! Our principal line of health protection MUST BE Social Distancing! We simply CANNOT continue to pay people to stay home indefinitely - regardless of how convenient it is for LIE-berals to keep on handing out all that gravy in a shameless effort to make us forget that LIE-berals smugly DROPPED THE BALL on Wuhan Virus!)
(Sadly LIE-berals were far more smugly concerned about smearing worried Cdns as “Racists” for insisting that travellers NEEDED TO BE QUARANTINED! And of course - AFTER IT WAS TOO LATE and the Virus was fully established here - only then did LIE-berals get interested in the utility of quarantining travellers!)
Canada’s Parliamentary Budget Officer said last month that the nation’s budget deficit will swell to $252.1 billion in 2020-21, the largest on record as a share of the economy since at least the mid-1960s.
(And many older folks will recall the rampant inflation that took over in the 1970`s and drove interest rates to twenty one percent in 1980! And it was in that time that LIE-berals developed their habit of BUYING civil service union HOG votes - a MASSIVE CONFLICT OF INTEREST that endures to this day!)
(Sadly - when LIE-berals present their first post Pandemic budget in spring 2021 - with the survival of their minority govt hanging in the balance- LIE-berals will be under HUGE PRESSURE to BUY as many votes as possible! YES - LIE-berals will be desperate to save their govt and their party - WITHOUT REGARD to what will be best for Canada! LIE-berals have already expanded and extended their Pandemic gravy give away far beyond what they had originally planned - with no sign they intend to slow or halt the gravy train any time soon!)
C.D. Howe ran three economic scenarios for 2020 and 2021 – baseline, optimistic, and pessimistic — on the assumption, and this is important, that spending measures announced this year do not extend into the future.
Taking the PBO forecast as a starting point, the baseline scenario sees deficits of $73 billion next year, and more than $50 billion per year from 2022/23 to 2024/25. The federal debt reaches 49.1% of GDP by 2025. The optimistic scenario has deficits of $232 billion in 2020/21 and $46 billion next year, with federal debt reaching about 40% of GDP by 2024/25. In the pessimistic scenario, the deficit hits $266 billion this year, $85 billion next year and almost $70 billion by 2024/25, by which time the federal debt hits 54% of GDP.
(All LIE-beral policy is now in deadly conflict! We are WAY PAST BEING BROKE - yet LIE-beral survival DEMANDS ever more gravy! LIE-beral policy demands that the Cdn oil patch be KILLED OFF - except that for MANY YEARS our most valuable export has been oil and now LIE-berals will NEED every penny of oil revenue they can find if they are to survive!)

(Nor do LIE-berals want to admit HOW MUCH SMUGGLING is being done by natives along the borders! Everything from cigarettes and alcohol to illegal aliens and guns is being shipped out by natives who have been persuaded by idiot LIE-berals that Cdn laws DO NOT APPLY to them! LIE-beras CANNOT reduce gun crime UNLESS they halt native smugglers and that would mean MORE LOST VOTES for our hard pressed LIE-berals!)
“The striking result is how much red ink the federal government shows in all scenarios, long after temporary income supports such as the CERB and the CEWS have ended. Without major changes, Ottawa’s net debt will shortly hit $1 trillion,” it said.
(And how SCARY that we have not yet counted up the debts piled on by provinces and by municipalities! Doug Ford got elected to save Ontari-owe from the $16 billion dollar Wynne-bag LIE-beral debt and yet the Ontari-owe Wuhan debt is OVER $20 billion in Ontari-owe alone! With Billions more piling up in other provinces and in every city - with cities PROHIBITED from running deficits because of their previous wasteful ways!)
Significantly, none of these scenarios include extending existing income supports, the introduction of new ones or stimulus spending during the recovery. C.D. Howe said if those were added in deficits and debt could be $100 billion or even $200 billion higher.
(There is ample reason to think that LIE-berals - who already DEEP into survival mode WILL NOT take drastic action to limit spending since BUYING VOTES is their ONLY TACTIC! LIE-berals Know nothing else but shovelling gravy!)
The provinces face the real hard work ahead, the institute said, as already strained health budgets struggle to deal with the extra load of the coronavirus.
(There is good reason to assume that Our idiot Boy Justin will follow the Jean Chretien path and solve federal LIE-beral spending problems by dumping it all on the Provinces! All of this need for reduced long term spending puts HUGE NEW PRESSURE on LIE-berals who are holding some HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in Pension Promises that had been offered to HOGS in exchange for their votes in previous elections!)
(In 2012 - the big news was that 97% of all defined benefit pension plans were in gravy danger of bankruptcy! Virtually ALL civil service union HOGS enjoy such pensions and LIE-berals conceived of their carbon tax SCAM and Climate Emergency as a brilliant cover for their GRAND GRAVY GRAB to cover the cost of restocking HOG pensions!)

“Ottawa needs to rein in its spending and borrowing – if only so that provincial governments, who have the heavier lifting to do as their healthcare systems adapt, will have the tax and borrowing room they will need,” it said.
