That's a knee-jerk reaction to US violence. And an incorrect assumption of US violence as well. As well as an intentional misrepresenting what semi-automatic rifles are. Semi-auto does NOT equal military-style assault rifle no matter how stupid you are.


Meanwhile Groper is so out to lunch his ban insists that farmers and hunters don't use "military-style assault weapons". Which is interesting because the 3 most popular hunting rifles in Canada over the last several years have been semi-autos. The Norinco M14S or M305, the Norinco Type 97 and the Tavor TAR-21 which was available in Canada before it was available in the US. The so-called "assault weapons" ban is a knee-jerk reaction.


The best response I've heard to the semi-auto ban went like this: Anti-gun proponent- "If you need a semi-auto to hunt you must really suck at hunting." To which a pro-gun proponent responded, 'If you need to disarm a population in order to govern it, you must really suck at governing."



And Groper has amply proved he sucks at governing.

You mean a whole 1/3 of Canadian voters. That's hardly overwhelming support. And look where the bulk of the votes were; Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.


And again, if you have to disarm a population in order to govern it, you must really suck at governing. Trudeau took a majority govt and turned it into a minority govt. The gun ban will make no noticeable difference in the homicide by firearm rate since semi-auto rifles are RARELY used to shoot people in Canada. We already have a hand gun ban in Canada, doesn't really seem to be doing f*ck all in places like Toronto now, does it.

2015- 179 homicides by firearm; 102 were handguns and 37 were long guns (216 stabbing deaths)



2016- 223 Homicides by firearm; 130 were handguns and 50 were long guns. (175 stabbing deaths)



2017- 267 homicides by firearm; 145 were handguns and 65 were long guns. (203 stabbing deaths)



2018 -249 homicides by firearm; 143 were handguns and 56 were long guns. (183 stabbing deaths)



*Long gun denotes rifles and shotguns but does not differentiate between semi-auto and single shot. The posted numbers also don't include sawed-off long guns, which are already illegal. Here's what's keeping the Ford government and unions apart

The government wants to limit the wage increase to one per cent annually, while the union wants a wage hike that meets the inflation rate.
The government wants to change a rule that requires principals to choose from only the most senior teachers in the supply pool when hiring for long-term and permanent teaching jobs.
The union says the government's proposal for special education funding is less than half what was in its 2017 collective agreement.
The union wants enhancements to benefits. It's not clear how big an ask this is, but government officials hint that it's on the pricey side.
These gaps are not impossible for the two sides to bridge. But it's hard to conceive how it actually happens.
