Replace the words hockey and White, with basketball and Black, and she would have been terminated before the show ended.

Typically double standard, in today's mainstream media.

Typical leftie twit who doesn't realize that hundreds of Canadian women/girls also play hockey and are really good at it. But no, it's all the 'white boys' who worship at the altar. Ignorance is strong in this one.

Find a large Rez without hockey teams.
In small towns hockey is heavily supported from squirts to beer league adult.
Hockey, snowmobiling and bingo are the mainstays of winter activities.
Racist bitch needs a tune up.

Family of Humboldt Broncos crash survivor blacklists CTV over comments on The Social

CALGARY – The family of one of the survivors of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash say they will no longer speak with CTV News over The Social host Jessica Allen's comments about hockey.

Allen, one of the hosts on the daytime talk show broadcast on the CTV Network, has been embroiled in controversy because of her reaction to the firing of Don Cherry from the Coach's Corner segment of Hockey Night in Canada.

During Tuesday's show, she said she doesn't "worship at the altar of hockey" and found in her experience that those who do "all tended to be white boys who weren't, let's say, very nice."

In reaction to Allen's statement, Tom Straschnitzki, the father of Ryan Straschnitzki, took to Twitter and said he would not be accepting any further interview requests from CTV News reporters until disciplinary action was taken against the host.

Requests for further comment were not returned.

Thursday evening, Allen tweeted a statement, where she said she regrets "saying my experiences were 'personal' instead of underlining that they were specific episodes from determined moments with particular individuals. As a result, I offended many people.

Not just our viewers, but parents, children, coaches, volunteers, and hockey families everywhere. To you you, I apologize. But I still can't apologize to the very specific hockey players I was referring to on Tuesday. I wish I'd used my voice and privilege more back then."

The entire statement may be viewed here:

A spokesperson for CTV said the comments from Allen have sparked a wider discussion from coast-to-coast but apologized to anyone who was offended by the remarks.

The full statement reads:

CTV’s The Social is based on opinion and debate about current issues, and we often hear from viewers who don’t agree with some of the perspectives on the show.

However, Jessica Allen’s comments about hockey have generated an extraordinary response. We’ve been touched by the stories we’ve heard from Canadians everywhere, including families from Humboldt, about what the game means to them. That matters to us.

We would like to apologize to everyone who was offended by the remarks, and let you know your feedback sparked much debate and introspection at The Social and CTV. We won’t restrict our hosts from offering their opinions on an opinion show, but we’ll always listen to viewers when they offer theirs.

Two opinions.

First, this was said on an opinion show which was different than Don Cherry's Coach's Corner.

Second, fuk this woman. Whatever backlash she gets, she deserves. There's opinion and then there's in-fukin-sulting.

Beauty of Free Speech - everyone has it, you're not free from consequences and I hope this twat gets a lot of it.

Coaches Corner is an opinion segment.

Perhaps Cherry should be on The Social. The show could use a rooster to balance out the hens and their clucking.

It's an opinion segment... on hockey. And things surrounding hockey.

I didn't know that whether people wore poppies or not was something related to hockey.

Unless of course it's changed since I used to sort of watch it as a kid. I thought Cherry a blowhard and just an opinionated azzhole when it came to hockey, so I didn't pay attention to him much.

It is a double standard and one a lot of people are beginning to notice and get frustrated with.
Opinion show or not, spewing comments like that on any form of media should have it's consequences and those consequences should be levied against anyone regardless of ethnicity, sex or gender.
If we are going to hold white males accountable for everything they say but not anyone else then there is no being equal about this and there can be no debate about any of these subjects.
This is evidenced here when everything devolves into arguments and people trivializing white nationalism and Nazism because they don't agree with what a white person says.

The new lie is that it was only about "you people"

He positively singled out immigrants whether he called hem you people or not.

Obvious Red herring is obvious

I was thinking that they should have a round table discussion for each intermission.

Selective hearing retard obviously has selective hearing. I had no idea that the liberal "elite" in Toronto were all immigrants. Who knew?
