Man dies during taco-eating contest in California

A 41-year-old man died after he apparently choked while competing in a taco-eating contest at a California ballpark on Tuesday.
According to ABC 30, Dana Andrew Hutchings was leading the contest at a Fresno Grizzlies game in Fresno, Calif., when he suddenly stopped eating.
“He was winning,” witness Eric Schmidt told ABC 30. “I mean, he was hungry, you could tell. My son and I were standing there like ‘oh, there’s the guy.’ And he was winning because he was starving.”
But Schmidt noticed something was wrong when Hutchings stopped stuffing himself with tacos and the Jumbotron showing the contest went dark.

Fresno Grizzlies medical staff and paramedics rushed to give him first aid, local authorities said.
Paramedics tried to clear food out of Hutchings’ airway, but he died shortly after he arrived at a local hospital.
Hutchings was described as a fun-loving man who made a strong impression on fans at the contest.
Schmidt told ABC 30 that Hutchings had mentioned he was a diabetic and had a few beers.
“He said he was going to enter a taco-eating contest and has been not eating all day to make himself a winner,” Schmidt said.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday to determine the cause of death.
The Grizzlies have cancelled the professional taco-eating contest scheduled for Saturday.

UK plastic surgeons want to ban Brazilian bum lifts after mom's death

British plastic surgeons are considering banning Brazilian butt lifts after a mother of three died while undergoing the procedure.
According to the Daily Mail, Leah Cambridge, 29, journeyed to Turkey in August 2018 to have the operation.
But the pretty Brit was killed when the surgery caused her to develop a fat clot.
Cambridge reportedly suffered three heart attacks following the procedure. Fat had been injected into the muscles in her butt.
Reality queen Kim Kardashian is credited with creating the demand for bigger bums.
At an inquest, her partner Scott Franks, 31, said Cambridge had long been interested in the procedure.

The butt-boosting procedure caught fire as a result of reality TV queen Kim Kardashian’s plush posterior.
About one person dies in every 3,000 surgeries, the Mail reports.
Now, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) will vote on whether plastic surgeons should be banned from performing the procedure.

“We have invited some of the world’s leading Brazilian butt lift experts … to take part in a series of lectures and debates on the topic,” BAAPS said, according to the Sunday Times.
“We then plan to hold a round of indicative voting after the debates to understand the right direction for the BAAPS and its members to take.”
But banning the procedure in the UK has a downside — women desperately seeking bigger booties may simply do what Cambridge did and have the procedure done elsewhere.

Russian man kills himself with homemade bomb in blundered ATM robbery

A robbery gone bad has led to the death of an unidentified Russian man.
The 37-year-old died after a homemade bomb he used in a failed bank machine robbery exploded, blowing himself up instead of the Sberbank ATM, Daily Mail reports.
The unidentified man died instantly as a result of the blunder.
In CCTV footage of the incident that occurred in the Russian city of Cherepovets, the thief is seen in a brown hooded jacket with a bag of tools tinkering with something near the base of the green ATM.
After nearly half a minute, the camera footage shows a bright orange burst and then cuts to black — the explosion appearing to kill the man and the camera recording.
The blast was no joking matter as it had enough force to blow out a metal door in the building 35-feet down the road.
Tatyana, a resident of the building where the incident occurred, said there was a “very strong explosion” followed by the sound of “breaking glass”.
“Of course, I was scared, and children screamed,” she said, adding it felt as though the building was collapsing.
The incident is being investigated by police who confirmed the death of the unidentified would-be robber.

Pokemon Go player shot to death in New Mexico park

Cayla Campos was having a little fun playing Pokemon Go with her boyfriend.
But minutes later, a robbery unfolded at a park in an Albuquerque, N.M.
Campos, 21, spotted two thugs robbing a person sitting in their car.
As she tried to drive away, shots were fired into her vehicle.
One of the bullets hit the back of her neck and she slammed her car into an abandoned home.

She later died of her injuries.
Now, cops are hunting for the pretty brunette’s killers.

On Facebook, her dad called the vivacious young woman “a very special person” who was “murdered in cold blood”.
He added: “You’ll never leave my mind baby! I don’t know how to live without you.”
Detectives believe Campos was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The location of the shooting is in a rougher part of town and if not for Pokemon, she would not have gone there.
“Her and her boyfriend always make a loop around this park before they go home and play Pokemon Go because their apartment is literally right there,” friend Cody Bell told KRQE.
“I am really trying hard not to break down right now,” Bell said. “I feel like there is a piece of me that is missing now.”

Bell added: “She has helped me through everything, and she has always been there. Now, she is gone. She was just such an amazing person. She was my closest friend. I am just devastated that she is gone.”
Cops aren’t sure whether Campos was targeted because she was a witness to the earlier robbery.
As of Monday night, leads were sparse.

Man dies while trying to complete 50-egg eating challenge

A man in India who tried to eat 50 eggs to win a bet with his friend collapsed and died after eating 41.
Subhash Yadav, 42, went to the Bibiganj market in Jaunpur, India, with a friend to eat eggs when an argument broke out between the two and they decided to settle it with an egg eating challenge, Gulf News reported on Monday.
The bet involved eating 50 eggs with the winner getting 2,000 rupees ($37.16).
Yadav had reportedly eaten 41 eggs and had just started eating his 42nd egg when he suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious.
He was rushed to a district hospital before he was transferred to the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences where he died hours later.

Doctors ruled Yadav died due to over-eating.
