If I were a student at Wilfrid Laurier University, I would be sincerely insulted by the arguments faculty used while reprimanding Lindsay Shepherd, all politics aside.
In the now-infamous meeting between communications studies professors and teaching assistant Shepherd, the 22-year-old is told her first year students do not have the “critical toolkit” to be shown a YouTube video of a TVO debate where Jordan Peterson argues against the compelled use of gendered pronouns.
(This is of course classic left wing double talk- intended to edit history, severely limit political discussion and adjust social reality to a form RESTRICTED to an EXCLUSIVELY Soviet Socialist style view. The LIE-beral `toolkit` referred to is a package of information intended to distort social understanding and silence dissent! Socialists long ago realized that their best option was to take over the school system and simply raise a generation of kids to be mindless supporters of the socialist way- and LIE-beral orthodoxy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Over the course of the 42 minute conversation, Shepherd presenting the video to her class without comment is compared to Nazi propaganda, white supremacist recruitment videos, climate change denial, proposals to ethnically cleanse North America, “whether or not a student of colour should have rights or should be allowed to be married,” and of course, giving a platform to Adolf Hitler himself.
When Shepherd clarifies that she does not even agree with Peterson’s position but introduced the video without bias anyway, Rambukkana tells her, “That’s kind of the problem.”
(LIE-berals have long objected to free speech and sought ways to limit it - for THEIR PROFIT!! The LIE-beral Islamophobia crusade is simply the most overt and blatant attempt to silence any critic of LIE-beral policy! This is Soviet style govt in which any dissenting voice is labelled as either a national enemy or insane- and in either case LIE-berals reserve the right to silence the dissenter as a service to the nation and to all allegedly proper thinking people! That a dissenter might have a valid point is NOT RELEVANT! Only slavish service to the LIE-beral Party and its ideals is judged socially acceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Now, let’s say for the sake of argument that comparing Peterson to Hitler is somehow appropriate- it is obviously not. Let’s say Shepherd neutrally presented a clip of Hitler speaking. Do these professors think so little of their students’ critical capacities that they don’t believe these students could independently determine that Hitler was bad?
(This is incorrect reasoning- LIE-berals are forcing a point of view that most Cdns instinctively consider to be wrong. The silent majority of Cdns- the 55 plus percent that does not vote- is disgusted with ALL politicians! As the socialist revolutionary Bakunnin stated: “it is not necessary for the majority of the public to support the revolution for it to succeed. The revolution can succeed if a majority of people are simply brought to a point where they distrust existing social institutions and are willing to consider change”!! In socialist circles- silence is consent- and LIE-berals are prepared to ORDER SILENCE!!!!!!!!!!)
(Bakunnin was well aware that once people “distrust existing institutions” then a small cadre of committed socialists can do the rest! It is worth noting that in 1917- a majority of Russians voted for a moderate, parliamentary democracy modelled on the British version. Lenin`s Red Guards then cut through the political confusion of a coalition govt made up of several parties and dissolved that Russian parliament at gun point!)
In the recording, Assistant Professor Nathan Rambukkana explains to Shepherd that these 18-year-old first years are “very young students” and that the discussion of gender pronouns is “not appropriate to that age of student.”
(How ODD that LIE-berals would say that 18 year olds “are very young” and THEN ADVOCATE that 16 year olds should be allowed to vote!! If the 18 year old is so immature then why did LIE-berals change the voting age from 21 to 18?? And of course older persons such as Jordan Peterson are not allowed into the discussion either because LIE-berals scorn the values of OLD WHITE MEN!!!!! The Party has spoken and dissenting voices are to be SILENCED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(AS Laurier officials have demonstrated- presenting a dissenting view can get you thrown out of school!! This is Soviet style blackmail at its most vile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Cue Shepherd’s supervisor telling her, “it’s more about the effect rather than the intention… nevertheless it disturbed and upset students.” Shepherd quickly responds, “So everything’s about those students who are disturbed? Everything is catered to them?” She never gets an answer.
(The ULTIMATE IRONY in all this is that professor who launched the attack on Shepherd had already shown the class the 3 hour long film “Triumph of the Will” - the infamous NAZI biography of the life and times of Adolf Hitler!! LIE-berals seriously want us to believe that a Hitler biography extolling the VIRTUES of a vicious Mass murderer is okay but a 5 minute talk by Peterson explaining his LOGICAL concept of Free Speech is POISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(The one valid thing our wretched prime minister Pierre Trudope ever said was this: “that the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation”! I agree! And I suggest that the LIE-beral socialist state has no business telling us we are criminals if we prefer NOT to speak a word that LIE-beral THOUGHT CONTROL POLICE deem acceptable!! Peterson is RIGHT - LIE-berals are engaged in MIND CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
But this is a question I would want to have the answer for if I were considering a school.

Not to mention that everything contained in the interrogation is bizarrely incoherent and self-contradictory. On the one hand, these students are so mentally malleable they run the risk of becoming white supremacists overnight if one were to play clips from a recruitment video in class. On the other hand, these same students are so mentally rigid that it will take them years and years at the institution to unlearn the societal structures they’ve grown up with, explains Associate Professor Herbert Pimlott.
(It is very hard NOT to be “incoherent and contradictory” if you are pretending to support free speech and inquiry while really trying to present an argument that will intimidate and silence dissenting voices asking questions that ordinary Cdns- the ones PAYING for the education- think are sensible and logical- while you work hard to avoid being fully caught out in your deception!)
So the million dollar question is, what would happen if the university did discuss “challenging” topics with their students? Does this faculty actually think that if Hitler’s speeches were presented without immediate, explicit condemnation, Hitler’s ideas would stand a chance with the young adults admitted to their school?
(The final irony is that Shepherd got into trouble in a “Communications Class” were NAZI PROPAGANDA METHODS to deceive the public were presented as being WORTHY of consideration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
My understanding has always been that bad ideas are defeated based on lack of logical, moral, or practical merit. If I were a Laurier student, I would think it pretty pathetic for my professors to consider me incapable of rejecting abhorrent ideas without their necessary hand to guide me.
(How can one understand the villainy of Adolf Hitler or the rabid bigotry of Isis unless the details of their philosophy and the cost of their actions are discussed? LIE-berals guide and LIMIT all discussion- just like their bloody handed Soviet mentors- for the sake of the Party!)
What I would worry about instead is it being known that professors at my school take such an infantilizing approach to teaching. Especially when, as Shepherd’s recording makes clear, they’re the kind who consider it their obligation to teach students what to think, instead of how to think for themselves.
