U.S. prepares to slap tariffs on remaining Chinese imports
The U.S. Trade Representative has taken the first steps toward imposing import taxes on roughly $300 billion of Chinese goods. If approved, American consumers would probably see higher prices on products including cellphones and TVs.

On the other hand there will be plenty of cheap corn for Americans. Cornmeal is a delicacy in North Korean prisons.

The only one I see enjoying this is you.

You have an unhealthy obsession with Trump.

Have you bothered to consider the bottom rung of the ladder in both Nations?

Do Chinese workers or American workers benefit in any way shape or from the heavy devaluation of the RMB?

Oh, c'mon! It's only 110% of GDP. Emergencies call for deficit spending.

And the US always seems to face one emergency aftre another. It might be time to prioritize your emergencies before your bedt itself becomes one. Canada's just as bad, by the way.

Yeah, the emergency is that we've gotten too greedy and short-sighted to pay our bills.

That's a greater emergency than any passing war or recession.

Just look at how Canada's racking up debt even when the economy's growing well. What happens when the economy slows and the it's already debt-addicted?

Canada is way down the list of indebtedness per GDP. We're way below the US and most Western countries. We are BBY no means the worst offenders. This does not mean we should spend but, in balance, we have managed our affairs better than a lot of our peer states.

Yup but we're cheapskates compared to the Yanks ... and the Japanese! ... YIKES!!

Their debts are all the more reason for us to pay ours off. When they come crashing down, they won't be able to afford to buy from us. We'd better be prepared for that crash.

I probably could buy in if the money was actually spent to improve our country a lot of the money could be recovered, but when it is mainly spent offshore and for social infrastructure then it's unrecoverable to our taxpayers.

And somehow Hong Kong with its lack of natural resources manages a debt-to-GDP ratio of 0.05%. With Canada's resources, we should be at least matching Hong Kong.
