The percentage of refugee and asylum claimants using Toronto's homeless shelters has skyrocketed and created an "unsustainable situation," according to a new report from the city.
(Of course - such a situation is inevitable! What else and where else would people who lack the education or language skills to survive in Canada turn for help other than a homeless shelter? Sadly -LIE-berals are focused on only buying VOTES and NOT on selecting USEFUL immigrants who can assimilate easily!!!!!!! )
Approximately 40 per cent of people using shelters identified as refugees or asylum claimants in Toronto's latest Street Needs Assessment survey, which was conducted on April 26, 2018. The total number of users now stands at 2,618 people.
That number is up from 25 per cent in 2017 and 11 per cent in 2016.
(With LIE-berals at every level of govt regarding illegals as a dandy GROWTH INDUSTRY for those who need to BUY votes at any price from such illegals - over the protests of ordinary Cdns!!!!!!!!!!!)
The rise has prompted the city to renew its calls for greater assistance from higher levels of government.

"The city can't do this alone. The federal government has come forward with initial help but we need the continued assistance of our federal and provincial partners to ensure that Toronto remains a safe, welcoming and accessible place for all," said Mayor John Tory in a statement.

An additional 18 to 20 new refugee or asylum claimants continue to enter Toronto's shelter system every day, the city says.
(So it is not just housing these people need- there is welfare to be paid monthly, along with winter clothing allowance and emergency detail care etc!!!!!!!!)
(And of course our economy is very short of jobs of any sort- much less the entry level ones that non English speakers are seeking- while also competing against our kids who are trying to save money for post secondary tuition that they MUST HAVE if they are to succeed in their future! Over 75 percent of all jobs in Canada now REQUIRE post secondary education!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The influx is expected to further strain the system during the upcoming winter months, when more people use shelter services.
(With the added bonus that a lot of citizens are disgusted with the garbage, needles, drunken stupidity and generally boorish behaviour of a lot of homeless people!!)
(And it does not help that city officials routinely go WAY OVER BUDGET every time they try to set up a new Homeless Hilton shelter! People are disgusted!!!!!!!!)
City calling for full reimbursement! Toronto has been calling for increased assistance to help manage the current wave of refugee and asylum claimants, which started in late 2015.
(Yes- the influx started right after Our idiot Boy was elected and offered up his COSTLY invitation to the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The city is requesting a full reimbursement of all costs incurred in 2017 and 2018, which it estimates at a minimum of $64.5 million, with another $6.3 million for the use of college dormitories this summer.

The city is also requesting annual funding of $43 million per year starting in 2019, in addition to a "federal and provincial coordinated response" to the issue.
Earlier this year, Ottawa announced $11 million in assistance for the influx of asylum seekers.
Meanwhile, Ontario's PC government has criticized the federal government for creating what it called the immigration "mess," and said Ottawa should cover 100 per cent of the resulting costs.
(It is not just illegals that we are having trouble with! LIE-beral immigration policy is focused on “Family Reunification” which is a deceitful way of saying LIE-berals are allowing legitimate immigrants to sponsor family members who WOULD NOT NORMALLY QUALIFY as immigrants due to limitations related to things like extreme age, language limitations and or lack of useful education!)
