An explanation of the Progressive savior complex.
Trying to dissect the exact thought process behind the ideas of the modern Progressive far-left is nearly impossible. From bizarre gender identity pronouns to trigger warnings, not much of what they stand for makes sense anymore.
But I wanted to touch on one aspect of the current far-left thinking because I think it’s rooted in something we can more easily identify and once pointed out becomes obvious to see in many of their other outlandish social justice crusades.
The bottom line is Progressives always want to feel like they are saving the world. And don’t get me wrong, trying to save the world can be a great thing. But the problem is, Progressives don’t actually want to do the work to save the world. You see, solving the world’s real issues takes a signifigant amount of work. Not only that, it can be frustrating as progress is often slow and setbacks are the norm.
But Progressives have figured out a way to circumvent all those pesky problems and get right to the part where they pat themselves on the back for being such virtuous people. What they do instead is inflate a smaller issue or a non-issue into one that they claim is going to destroy the world, or at the very least, destroy America. Then they propose some poorly thought out law or way of behaving they claim will solve the fake problem they invented.
A perfect and recent example is climate change. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently stated that within 12 years the Earth will be destroyed by climate change. Now on the surface that seems like a preposterous claim, yet many on the Progressive left jumped right on board with her doomsday scenario.
Now I’m not even going to bother getting into an argument over how silly her claim is as that’s not the point here. The point is how Progressives overstate a problem, or even invent a problem so they can be seen as the savior of the world by fighting to solve a non-problem.
Transgender rights is another perfect example. Many Progressives called the transgender rights initiatives that they spearheaded a modern day civil rights movement.
First of all, this is completely offensive to the actual civil rights movement that occurred in this country. Trans or gay people were never denied any freedoms such as the right to vote or to do business where they please. In fact, gay and trans people were never denied any rights at any time. The only issue they had to deal with from a legal standpoint is marriage, and that was mostly due to existing laws that were written for people of two separate genders. Marriage laws weren’t specifically written to exclude gay or trans people despite what Progressives would have you believe.
But once again this goes back to my original point. Progressives want to take something that is barely an issue, or an issue that effects such a small segment of the population, such as trans bathroom rights, then pretend like they are all the reincarnation of Martin Luther King Jr. himself by fighting for these so-called rights of the under-represented.
Estimates put the number of trans people in America at about .06%. Yet this was a major part of the Progressive platform in 2016 and still is. Not only that, no current laws actually discriminate against trans people. So what exactly are Progressives fighting for in this case?
Progressives do this with just about everything. From climate, to plastic straws, to women’s pay, to the patriarchy – Progressives invent a doomsday scenario then pretend to be the ones who can fix it just so they can pat themselves on the back.
You see, they are fighting for nothing other than to make themselves feel like saviors. They simply take a group they deem as “lesser” than them then claim only they, the mighty Progressives can fight on behalf of these people. But as you can see, it’s actually demeaning as Progressives must put whoever they want to help into instant victim status and unable to help themselves.
The same can be said for Progressive cities that recently called for a ban on plastic straws. This does nothing to save the planet or anything else, but as I wrote early, it’s easy to do and that’s what Progressives are looking for.
Easy and conspicuous fake solutions are all Progressives are interested in.
Progressives don’t want to put in any actual work or research to solve a problem. That takes too much effort and commitment and all they really want is the credit anyway. So what better way to achieve their objective than to pass some nonsense law. Laws are easy to pass, and once passed, the Progressives can dust off their hands and pat themselves on the back, proclaiming that once again they’ve saved the world.
That’s why Progressives are so keen on new gun control laws. The evidence is obvious that tougher gun laws have no effect on criminals obtaining or using guns, in fact it’s the opposite. But that doesn’t stop Progressives from wanting to pass new laws. And the reason is because it’s easy. They can pass some silly law about background checks or magazine capacity then claim that they’ve saved hundreds of lives. It’s all just theater for Progressives and it simply feeds their need to be the world’s savior but without doing any actual saving.
So the next time you see a Progressive claiming that the world is going to end, stop and take a closer look. Chances are they’re just trying to set themselves up to once again feel they are saving the world, at least in their own minds.

4 daycare workers still waiting for $18.5K in unpaid wages 10 months after ministry decision

A daycare worker, who is seeking thousands of dollars in unpaid wages from her former employer, still hasn't received the money following an Ontario Ministry of Labour investigation that concluded in January.
A CBC Toronto investigation into the daycare provider, which receives public subsidies, found her story is not an isolated case.
(So this is involving Toronto Silly Hall Socialists who are providing the day care subsidies- but cannot be bothered making sure people get paid!)
Salma Sikder won her case Jan. 31 when an employment standards officer determined her former boss contravened several sections of the Employment Standards Act and awarded her a settlement of $9,057.52.

Sikder's case is one of four Ministry of Labour decisions CBC Toronto has uncovered at the daycare. In each case, April Koster, the owner of Applewood Montessori Academy & Daycare Inc., was found to have contravened the rules.
The four women are owed $18,499.71 between them but, 10 months after the decisions, none of them have received the money, they say.
The Ministry of Labour probe found Salma Sikder was entitled to unpaid wages for roughly 580 hours between May 1, 2017 and Aug. 23, 2017, totalling $8,752.50. She was also not properly paid for public holidays or vacation pay, bringing the total to $9,057.52, according to the Ministry of Labour decision.
(This is the dirty little LIE-beral Socialist secret- they talk BIG about worker rights and about creating good jobs- but its ALL TALK! LIE-berals boast of how they put up the minimum wage but they are utterly SILENT about how they later taxed it all away again- and took MORE AS WELL! Bait and switch is a LIE-beral Mantra!!!!!)
Sikder filed her Ministry of Labour claim in September 2017, and showed CBC Toronto the money still hasn't shown up in her bank accounts.
"It's been one year since I applied to the labour board. They are trying to collect, trying to negotiate with Applewood and Ms. April ... but I don't have any updates."
CBC Toronto obtained four decisions against Applewood. In Sikder's decision, the employment standards officer wrote that Koster "stated that she owes the claimant wages, but not the amount the claimant alleges. No other evidence was provided by the employer to dispute the allegations of the claimant."

(Not hiding from the debt? Obviously there is NO NEED to hide from toothless legal decisions- that are not worth the paper they are printed on! This is LIE-beral justice in the raw! Uncaring and unresponsive and TOOTHLESS! Legal IMPOTENCE BREEDS scoff laws!!!!!!!!!!!)
In a written statement to CBC Toronto, Koster wrote: "There is no attempt to rip off employees. Businesses go through ups and downs and mine is no different and I am doing my best to resolve my issues as expeditiously as possible."
Koster said in some cases the women lied but she chose not to appeal because "it is not a good use of time."
"I am not hiding from this debt nor am I disputing it, I am paying it off as quickly as I can," said Koster. She said she has worked out a financial arrangement with the Ministry of Labour, but wouldn't provide proof.
(Uh huh - typical LIE-beral style legal crap- it costs to much to actually FIND and deal with the TRUTH! Last I heard it cost $750.00 to get a subpoena issued and of course it can be rendered USELESS at the last second by the simple expedient of the person you are suing simply sending a helper to tell the judge they cannot make it to court today! Then you must spend ANOTHER $750.00 for a new subpoena and new court date! Or GIVE UP legal solutions!)

Sikder played CBC Toronto voicemail messages from the Ministry's collections unit from this fall, which stated they had no updates for her.

However, since CBC Toronto first started investigating the story, Sikder again reached out to collection services with the government, who confirmed Koster is working with them.
Sikder was told to call back in January for further updates.
Confusing partial payments cause headaches for workers.
(As anybody familiar with the legal system KNOWS- making a SMALL PARTIAL payment- that confuses all the numbers owing - is a GREAT WAY to force the entire legal matter back to Zero and a NEW START! LIE-berals, legal minds and thieves LOVE that bait and switch and STALL!!!)
(And of course maybe we should ask how cozy is the relationship between Silly Hall and the day care operator since the city COULD pull its subsidies and resolve this mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The employment standards officer found Koster paid $2,000 of those "unpaid wages" to Sikder during her employment. Partial payment was an overriding problem, CBC Toronto uncovered.
Shabana Akhtar worked at the daycare until Jun. 23, 2017. After complaining about missed wages directly to the owner, she was paid $901 in back pay during her employment, however the Ministry of Labour investigation found she should have been paid $3,363.75, according to the decision.
"Sometimes she used to pay in part. If she owed us $800 or $900, she would give us $500, or $200. So that's the habit, not only to me, all of our staff," Akhtar told CBC Toronto.
(So the boss is a tightwad and in our allegedly booming economy people cannot find any better jobs that will pay honestly!)
"Now I have lots of debt on me," she said.
Shortchanged with no termination pay, worker says
On June 23, 2017, Akhtar told Koster she couldn't be mistreated any longer and gave her verbal notice she was resigning on July 1, 2017.
To her surprise, Koster then gave her a written termination notice June 25, 2017, which was effective immediately.
The employment standards officer found Akhtar was not properly compensated for the termination and Koster was ordered to pay her $600 for that.
On Jan. 5 of this year, the Ministry of Labour probe determined Akhtar was owed $4,203.64. She said she has still not received it.
Aliya Janmohamed, 34, is owed $3,901.89 from Koster and she said the pay situation at the daycare was sketchy right from the beginning.
"My next paycheque was always being delayed, and delayed and delayed until I'm like, 'I'm fed up, I'm tired, I need my pay.' I earned that. I worked really hard," said Janmohamed.
Janmohamed said Koster offered to give her cash under the able.
(Ah- there is the dirty secret of the working world! And especially of the daycare biz! The LIE-beral choice to take over daycare seems to have been motivated in part to end those cozy paid under the table deals- LIE-berals WANT ALL THE TAXES PAID so they will get more gravy! The ugly reality is that costs and taxes ARE TOO HIGH in our “booming” economy! Most businesses are SQUEEZED between what customers can pay and what it costs to operate the biz -so “shortcuts” like under the table often become necessary!)
8 compliance orders against Applewood total $25,733.18
From Jan. 1, 2015, until Aug. 23, 2018, CBC Toronto found there were 20 Employment Standards Claims against Applewood Montessori Academy & Daycare for issues including payment of wages, public holiday pay and termination pay.
Seven claims were withdrawn, one was denied, four are still being investigated and eight compliance notices were ordered against Applewood totalling $25,733.18, according to the Ministry of Labour.
(Oh- SEVEN CLAIMS WITHDRAWN? Why? Did some people despair of getting justice in our legal system and simply move on- poorer but wiser?)
Once a case has been decided, the employer has 30 days to comply with the order or appeal. The body that handles those appeals, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, had no records of an appeal application from Applewood.
After the 30-day period of no payment or no appeal, delinquent cases are handed over to a government collections unit.
(So there is an actual govt collections agency THAT CANNOT COLLECT from a company getting GOVT SUBSIDIES? How truly impotent is LIE-beral LAW?)
The four women CBC Toronto spoke to are part of a bigger problem, according to records from the Ministry of Labour.
For example, in the 2017/18 fiscal year, Ministry of Labour officers assessed $25.7 million worth of claims, however only $20 million was recovered, which might include claims from previous years.
(Yes- the LIE-beral Hog collection process does seem to involve multiple years of IMPOTENT EFFORT but it does not stop them collecting their Hog gravy every week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
