It's only simpletons who can't see that Canada will never be ready for electric cars in the sense people are thinking. Which river do you want to see dammed up next? Do you have habitat available to replace it? We are already running short of land on which to feed beef and hogs!

Second is battery range- which a we now know is BADLY compromised when the weather cools! AS for usable battery range after 2-3 months in daily sub zero temperature- NOBODY has tested that- EXCEPT our TTC that bought battery buses and then SCRAPPED THEM!
Third is refueling speed- which REMAINS CUMBERSOME! The LIE-beral program to get fast chargers installed in Toronto area has so far FAILED! At last report- Less than half the chargers LIE-berals contracted for were actually installed! In addition a significant number were BROKEN! Others FAILED to give top level charging speed and instead delivered charging rates that took many hours to complete!
It would cost at least $3 grand to get a first class fast charger installed in a typical Cdn house- and that does not count the assorted subsidies that LIE-berals offered nd which Doug Ford has cancelled while dealing with the $16 billion dollar debt left by Wynne-bag!!!!!!!!!
But few people are ALLOWED to alter the electrical system in a town house complex and certainly NO RENTER would be allowed to install a fast charger!!!!!
Various fire insurance laws and condo corporations would prevent it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Govt has enough toruble getting around to doing safety inspections of gas and propane stations -as witness the Sunrise Prpane blast of a decade back! How can govt possibly enure that all the electrical chargers that would be needed could be inspected as necessary if we all switched to electric cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
