It would seem fair to me that the US ban any recreational user and any owner or part-owner of a recreational-pot business from entering the US for life. I don't see the point in banning medicinal users and legal employees who own no part in the business. That seems unfair and vindictive especially if a person may have no choice but to access that employment to maintain access to any social assistance for example. There is a difference between working for an employer and actually buying a share in a business.

If the US goes through we this, we should reciprocate by banning Trump's casino employees if they do that.

Why should it matter if a recreational user enters the US? There are legal States. Are rec users in Colorado allowed into Wyoming?

When you cross into the US from Mission BC to Sumas WA the very first thing you see when you cross the border is a weed store.

Unless you are a felon it makes no sense.

If you knowingly own shares in a recreational pot business or use marijuana recreationally, that says something about your character.

Then according to you everybody who pays into or collects CPP has character issues.

Our Prime Minister can no longer enter the USA.

I would also say that no foreign national in Canada should be allowed to buy any addictive product or service, be it a lottery ticket, alcohol, tobacco, etc. No proof of citizenship, no booze for you.

You should look into the corporate bastards that made it illegal in the first place - and watch that refer madness PROPAGANDA movie they made too...after that, ask yourself if it would not be better for humanity as a hole if those delusional nutbars were to smoke some pot themselves, and settle the F*** down.
;)

Oh wait, pot might reduce the opium pill, prozac, booze and CIA crack, sales...
:)
Oooooops, silly me.

Uh oh. I see that CPP owns a chunk of Molson.

That won't sit well with machjo and the rest of t the temperance movement.

Just incase you are interested here is a complete list of US investments made by the CPP investment board.
See anything that ruffles your feathers?

Perhaps there should be a rule that CPP may not own any shares in any business that produces, markets, or sells addictive products or services for other than legitimate medical reasons. That should even include shops that sell lottery tickets.

Why?
You are by far the most intrusive Libertarian on earth.

CPP is public sector. I'm not necessarily libertarian (even if I may have libertarian leanings in some areas), but I do think the Government should not own shares in businesses that produce or sell addictive products or services for recreational purposes. That coincidentally could be a libertarian stance (though granted libertarians would just say scrap the CPP altogether I suppose, a position I could support too by the way, my first proposal being a minimum base line).

Why? It's addictive. You don't like addictive stuff.

I had a student blow her capstone project and semester because of binge watching Wentworth.

The governments operate the lottery ,good luck with that . You remember Lott6/49 was a creation of the federal government to help off set costs for Montreal Olympics . Prior to that lotteries were illegal . That of course didn’t stop anyone from buying Irish Sweepstakes from the local police .

I know the irony of it. The LCBO is Ontario-government-owned, and recreational pot shops will probably be state owned too. Tobacco isn't yet, and notice how much better regulated it is when the government doesn't own it. I see casino ads everywhere, but not so much tobacco advertising and when I see it, it's extremely subtle (behind the counter behind a door behind the cashier at... the grocery store.

It wouldn't surprise me if tobacco shops are willing to sell at a discount to grocery stores just because of the great marketing opportunity (given how few they have now, and rightfully so: they still have too many such opportunities in my opinion).
