Ontario Pemier Doug Ford has gone of the deep end and is giving payback to the city of Toronto for his brothers mis-treatment by cutting down the councilors from 47 to 25.

The mayor challenged it in court and won but now Doug has decided to appeal the decision and is in the process of using the Notwithstanding Clause in the Canadian Charter to over turn the any courts ruling that goes against him which takes away the rights of the people thus making Doug Ford Canada's first dictator.

Now you know what crack can do on a long term use it does kill brain cells.

What do you think?

It seems to me that the big problem the judge has (apart from the fact that he was appointed by former Liberal premier Dalton McGuinty) is that the changes will take place during an election cycle. Ford introduced the bill in July, Toronto’s election period began in May. However, voters were aware of Ford's position, and there was obviously support from the electorate of having fewer Councillors.

As inconvenient as it might be to bring in these changes before an election, I wonder what kind of a gong show it's going to be implementing these changes after electing 47 new Councillors, then handing out pink slips to half of them?

No, he wasn't.

That's just another stupid comment from a moron who never finished 10th grade.

The beauty of Ford misusing the notwithstanding clause to advance his own political goals is that it lets the genie out of the bottle.

Now Trudeau can bring in something like a universal handgun ban and if any of the provinces don't like it he can simply invoke the notwithstanding clause.

It's all in how you play the hand your dealt, well thought out result orientated gambits are rare in canuckstans' political arena but doug has turned the page. The constitution has tools to use n' not using all the tools in your toolbox is folly, picking up the notwithstanding mallet rendered the sought after result, it goes back in the box unused.

The courts sided with Ford. So sad for the dysfunctional council at Toronto City Hall. The same city council who donated office budgets to THE LEATHER BALL, took vacations under the guise of environmentalism, threw lavish retirement parties on the taxpayers dime. I neither support or oppose Ford, his leadership does not affect me, but that bunch in Toronto were so damned self-entitled, I can't help but laugh.

Suck it up, T.O. City Hall.

Ontario high court sides with Ford.

Or use it to get the pipeline built. ;-)

But none of that matters anyway. The appeals court overturned the previous judge's ruling.

I think you're an idiot. The appeals court sided with Ford and overturned Belobaba's ruling. As for being Canada's first dictator, you really are an idiot. The notwithstanding clause has been invoked 15 times in this country. Oh and funfact: Papa Trudeau is the reason there's even a notwithstanding clause to begin with. Trudeau set up the mechanism for this potential "dictatorship" you're crying about.

Before anybody gets too deep into this legal sh+t storm -let me remind you of some of the Toronto Silly Hall crap- and that there IS a reason that Hogtown is stony broke :

Here is an article illustrating the utter inefficiency of civil service Hogs and their LIE-beral political allies! With some comments of my own in brackets):

Union Station missed revenue inexcusable says Mayor

By Shawn Jeffords, Political Bureau Chief. Post Media. First posted: Wednesday, June 21, 2017 05:20 PM EDT | Updated: Wednesday, June 21, 2017 05:25 PM EDT

Mayor John Tory says there’s no excuse for city staff not collecting millions in rent from tenants at Union Station.

(He has that right- it`s a disgrace the dead broke city is not collecting what is owed to it! Now our jackass John needs to grow a spine and fire some slobs to make the other Hogs smarter and more attentive to detail. Oh- and he MIGHT think of cancelling a few of those fine Hog performance bonuses as well?)

Tory was reacting Wednesday to a report from Toronto Auditor General Beverly Romeo-Beehler who found that the city could be owed as much as $9.4 million from tenants at Union Station. According to the report, city staff haven’t been collecting operating costs from tenants for things like cleaning and maintenance. That mistake has cost taxpayers $740,000 in interest that could have been earned on the cash, the auditor noted.

“I’m disappointed in the results of the audit,” Tory said. “Whatever the explanation is, there can be no excuse for just not collecting rent. These are scarce dollars that we need to provide childcare and to build more transportation and to provide for the homeless.”

The report says that the city may be owed money by VIA Rail, Metrolinx and past commercial tenants. Even though the city was contractually obligated to collect the fees, municipal officials never intended to fully recover operating costs from tenants to begin with, saying it would be “unreasonable” to pass on the expense for a major transportation hub, according to the report.

(Unreasonable they say? Why? Is somebody getting a free ride on this crap? Above ground businesses pay for snow clearing in front of their business- and for road repairs and etc- so why no equivalent cleaning costs for transit hub biz?)

Romeo-Beehler lays out 21 recommendations to address the issues.

Tory said he isn’t sure why the city didn’t approach the Union Station leasing with an eye to full cost recovery.

“This is a decision best not made by politicians,” he said. “It’s best made by expert officials. They reached a determination that was slightly less than full cost recovery. That’s something I’m not going to challenge today.”

(And WHY is this business of Union Station rents not a decision that should be made by politicians? They are quite happy meddling with TTC and forcing it to supply cash to purchase modern art to `beautify TTC stations even though TTC is in the transportation business and not running art galleries featuring politically correct crap produced by friends of LIE-berals! And Silly Hall twits are certainly happy meddling with housing taxes and such so why the sudden shyness over cleaning the Transit station floors? Or has jackass John suddenly become aware that EVERY STUPID THING he does as mayor makes somebody mad! And he is a typical LIE-beral and desperately needs the support of civil service Hogs if he is not to be railroaded into retirement in disgrace after the next election and so cannot make heads roll as they deserve over this missing rent!)

sjeffords at Post Media

(IT is one thing for city numbskulls to sign a bad deal- and it quite another for city numbskulls NOT to collect that which is actually OWED to them by that bad deal! Govt could not run a chip truck at a profit even if you gave them the potatoes for FREE! It is this utter stupidity that is the reason why LIE-berals should be discouraged from fiddling with our economy! They just cannot get it right!)
