Kind'a hard to keep any promises when it comes to existing programs considering the absolute f*cking mess the Liberals left province's finances in.

Some people can't work or are unlucky in life. I accept that. the idea of just giving them money still worries me though. while some are poor through no fault of their own, others would just blow that money on who knows what addiction.

I'd rather give them education than money. That way we know the money's more likely to go to productive use.

That was supposed to be a thumbs up. I'm good with a hand up. It is hand outs that I have a problem with.

Why is anyone surprised that Doug Ford has already broken an election promise?

Better question is why is anyone surprised that when he got a look at the books he found there is no possible way to carry on with the program.

In any event we already have a guaranteed basic income called welfare. All you have to do is get your worthless ass to the government office and they will cut you a cheque.

He did have the choice of not making that promise.
What, like Trudeau and his election reform? How many idiots bought into that lie despite the fact the PM does not have the power to unilaterally change the electoral process.
In the run up to the 2014 election the Wynned Bag promised to reduce insurance rates by 15%. Didn't happen. There was only a 6.6% reduction. When the Wynned Bag was challenged on it, she blew it off by saying that 15% was a "stretch goal". Well she certainly didn't tell us that BEFORE she was elected. In other words, she made a promise she knew she was unlikely to keep.

In 2014, in raising the minimum wage from $10.25 an hour — where the Liberals had kept it since 2010 — to $11 an hour, Wynne promised that going forward, hikes to the minimum wage would be predictable and linked to inflation, to be fair to employers as well as employees.

But, heading into the June election, Wynne announced a 31.6% hike to the minimum wage over 15 months, a direct contradiction of her earlier commitment and an obvious political move to force Ontario’s employers to pay for her attempt to buy the votes of minimum wage workers.

And then we have Dalton McGuinty, who came to power in 2003 promising not to raise taxes. Even made a big to-do about signing a pledge with the Ontario Taxpayer's Federation before introducing the single largest tax hike in Ontario history.

It's one thing to make a promise and then have to back down because of outside circumstances. It's quite another to make a promise knowing full well you have no ****ing intention of keeping said promise.

Why is anyone surprised that Doug Ford has already broken an election promise?
Were you surprised and all sarcastic when the Ontario Liberals broke election promises almost immediately after getting elected? Or is this just part of your partisan routine?

WE should consider that trying to hold Ford to a promise that was made based on LIE-beral LIES - is hypocrisy on the part of LIE-berals!!!!

Ford has had time enough in office to begin unravelling the LIE-beral sh+t show and he is not liking what he sees!!!!!!!

In spring 2018- Wynne-bag LIE-berals produced THREE SEPARATE SETS of LIES related to their balanced budget that was really ANYTHING BUT BALANCED!!!!!!!!

LIE-beral "guaranteed income" games are nothing but more smoke and mirrors!!!!!!!!!

Economists told us that if LIE-beral style "guaranteed income" was implemented right across Canada it woukld cost us another $76 billion dollars!!!!

The LIE-beral "guaranteed income" is as useful as the LIE-beral minimum wage increase!!!!! The wage increase killed entry level jobs for Cdn young people who are burning mad at LIE-berals for abandoning them to crappy McJobs; and for the illegals who are coming here- that LIE-berals desperately want to get working so welfare rolls will not be hammered by teeming hordes lounging around at our expense!

That oh so NOT GENEROUS LIE-beral wage increase gave workers the privilege of paying higher income taxes, higher contributions to unemployment insurance that most cannot claim for themselves, higher Canada Pension Plan contributions, and of course the REAL REASON for the wage increase was to make it LOOK LESS UGLY as LIE-berals gave new GOBS OF GRAVY to their civil service union Hog supporters!!!!!

Anything a LIE-beral gives has strings attached - its all in one poket and out the other!!!!!!!!!!!!

And even the Hogs have awakened to the LIE-beral duplicity- its why Wynne-bag LIE-berals LOST so much support and NDP airheads GAINED IT!

Civil service Hogs re desperately hoping that NDPers can supply more gravy than LIE-berals!!!!

The kind of people who believe LIE-berals are honest money managers are the same deluded folks who thought a "guaranteed income" might actually mean something good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So are they simply incompetent or was the program designed to fail so nobody else would try it.
It should have been a nation wide test program where a person with a Canadian Birth Certificate gets a yearly amount from the Fed Gov. At the end of the year all a person's other income is added in and when you get above a certain level the basic income starts coming off as it is a fund to bring everybody up to the poverty line. Lots of complaints about what AISH pays but nobody mentions that it is still about $5,000 below the poverty line. Should somebody like Walter endrd up on it he would be pushing for the raise, until then it is money going to the useless eaters.

The Libturds dredged up the Mincome idea when the Wynned Bag's approval ratings started swirling the toilet bowl and were showing no signs of improving. Just another attempt at vote buying like the 32% increase in minimum wage over 15 months. Funny how none of the ALT-left jackwads on here had a thing to say about her breaking her election promise in regards to MW increases.
In fact, when Ford said he was scrapping the $15 minimum wage, he was actually keeping the Wynned Bag's election promise for her.

You have no idea how lucky you are to have AISH.

Brain cripples like you get half as much in other Provinces.

The LIE-beral "guaranteed income SCAM" was simply another VOTE BUYING LIE-beral ploy!!!!!

It was the usual LIE-beral bait and switch ploy in which they offer you money with one hand while picking your pocket with the other!!!!

Ford was right to kill it!!!!!!!!!!

Comin up to the June 2018 election, Ontari-owe LIE-berals KNEW they were in trouble in rural Ontari-owe so they cooked up the income scam as a bribe to see if it would work to get them votes in rural communities!

Govt auditors of the guaranteed income scam state that it would cost Cdn tax payers over SEVENTY SIX BILLION DOLLARS PER YEAT- to implement the income scam fairly right across the country fro all citizens- rather than introducing it piecemeal in selected small communities were LIE-berals hoped to buy votes!!!

Only a shameless LIE-beral would mourn the death of the guaranteed income scam!!!!!!!

And the Gov. should assign jobs to every resident based on an aptitude test and athletic ability ;)

I do watch several news channels each day. Ontario is always in the news, and the picture painted of Premier Ford pretty much fits my description of him.

Oh dont worry about Tecumsehbonehead......he is a tyoical LIE-beral who only looks at issues that make HIM feel good! Personal bias and animosity are the order of his day!

T-gurly offers only "solutions" that would dig us even deeper into the swamp of red ink!

Here is an article detailing how dysfunctional Toronto City Council really is- and why Ford is right to cull that swinish herd! With some comments of my own in brackets):

Projects backlogged by 'dysfunctional' Toronto City Council

Council has lost its way.

There are too many councillors with pet agendas propped up by special interests. Council has become full of social justice warriors who have diverted the city’s attention from the basics of running a city.

(Both LIE-berals nad their less intelligent cousins of NDP have this same problem of catering to trendy radical agendas and “squeaky wheels” on the political scene- as opposed to tending to the unglamourous basics like fixing pot holes and building transit! AS for producing balanced budgets- Silly Hall thinks that is an ABSURD requirement left over from some now dead civilization!)

Here is a sample of current and past projects and issues that have either been held up, deferred or have not been properly monitored by Toronto’s dysfunctional City Council :

The $3.5-billion one-stop Scarborough subway (first promised in 2011)
Smart Track (promised by Mayor John Tory in his 2014 election platform)
Most any transit whatsoever
Union Station revitalization — now at $823.5 million
Billions of backlogs in repairs to social housing, community centres and playground equipment
The contracting out of garbage east of Yonge St.
An inability or unwillingness to keep up with maintaining our decrepit roads and sidewalks. aging watermains and increasing litter issues
The city’s rising debt
The city’s bloated bureaucracy

(NONE of these projects will ever be completed if Socialist Silly Hall continues on its current path! For some decades now-Toronto has been getting TYEN TIMES MORE in provincial tansfer funds from the province- per citizen than any other Ontari-owe municipality and yet still Toronto whines! Toronto “leaders” have the same sort of grossly unhealthy relationship to money that alcoholics have to demon RUM! Unfortunately the concentration of civil service union Hogs in Toronto is so high- thanks to the presence of Queens Park- and a huge assortment of pressure groups such as the racists of Black Lives Matter- that it is quite difficult for responsible govt to take root in the city!)

(I suggest that one of the reasons mayor Rob Ford drank the way he did was because of the stress of dealing with so very many deeply entrenched and entirely privileged Hogs at city hall! Reforming such a bunch as Ford tried to do is far harder than herding cats!)
