'Googly-eyed' Stubby Squid spotted off California coast

With its googly eyes, the Stubby Squid may look like a character from Pixar’s Finding Nemo but it’s real.
The adorable creature was spotted off the coast of California by a team of explorers aboard the E/V Nautilus, who filmed the encounter.
“It’s like some little kid dropped their toy,” says one of the researchers.
While the Stubby Squid, also known as Rossia pacifica, appears to be a mix between a squid and an octopus, it is actually a type of bobtail squid, which researchers say is more closely related to the cuttlefish.
