A Canadian company that sent two cameras into space released its first pictures of Earth Thursday in what will eventually be a series of images streamed in almost real time.
Vancouver-based UrtheCast said its cameras installed on the International Space Station in November will roll continuously as the ISS circles the world 16 times a day and "highlight the beauty of our continuously evolving planet."
The first images released show a 300-sq.-km area centred around the city of Moneague, Jamaica, and the urban area surrounding Santa Cruz de Mara, Venezuela, both captured on March 28.
UrtheCast said it's calibrating its cameras and data-processing ground system in preparation for taking full-colour Ultra-HD video from space and ultimately streaming it back to Earth in a "near-live feed."
Canadians can set up a free account with UrtheCast to follow it.

From a security perspective real time high tech images will give terrorists a better advantage to carry out their acts of terror and making our cities more unsafe.
