I suspect icebergs do this all the time when bumped by currents and waves. As the ice melts as the iceberg heads south its balance will shift. They all don't just stand perfectly still and wait for the Titanic to hit them.

I always thought so too,that this was actually the reason it was so perilous to get too close to them, because they are prone to tipping on their side.

we get icebergs off the coast here fairly frequently. they are quite dangerous and most people steer quite clear of them, not because they might bump into them, but because they do regularly fall apart or roll over, easily capsizing a fairly large boat. Of course, the locals like to go out and scoop up some icerberg ice in nets as well because it's awesome to have some iceberg ice in your drink.
