Dead baby found in trash in Quebec town

Police are questioning the mother of a baby found dead in a garbage bin Friday morning in the Quebec town of Metabetchouan-Lac-a-la-Croix.
Police said the woman had been to the hospital earlier in the day complaining of stomach pains.
What doctors found led hospital staff to ask police to investigate.
Officers searched the area around the mother's apartment building and found the baby in a trash bin outside.
Police would not speculate as to how the baby died but deemed the death suspicious.
The woman, whose name and age were not disclosed, remained in hospital Friday.
Metabetchouan-Lac-a-la-Croix is on the south shore of Lac Saint-Jean, about 500 kilometres northeast of Montreal.
