SAINT-CALIXTE, Que. -- A Quebec woman met a gruesome end last weekend when she slashed her neck open with a chainsaw.
A passerby found the body of Roselyn Demers on Sunday in front of a chalet in Saint-Calixte, an hour north of Montreal.
It appears Demers had been cutting wood with the electric power tool.
"She was lying on the ground beside the road in a pool of blood," the man who found Demers' body told QMI Agency. "The chainsaw was still plugged in next to her."
Provincial police have ruled out foul play but they say suicide is a possibility.
Demers, a psychologist in her 50s, had been on sick leave. While her children say Demers struggled with alcoholism, they don't believe she killed herself.
"She had a bad run, but she had been doing well for awhile," said daughter Eliane Girard-Demers.
"We spoke two or three times a week and she seemed in good spirits."

Suicide? Are they freaking kidding? Who in the hell would ever select suicide by chainsaw? 8O

More likely this is accidental. Granted she may have been using a very dangerous piece of equipment that was either beyond her experience or while intoxicated, or possibly both. But this has to be accidental.

Darwin at work.
Not sure about Darwin. These things have a tendancy to kick back, don't they? Maybe she hit a knot. Either way, I agree with SLM, don't think it would be suicide by those means. Could well have been drunk though :(

The electric jobbies generally don't have a kickback brake, but are not very powerful. Possible to cut your throat with one pretty easily, but I can think of better ways to go.
they can wuzzzzzzzzzz thru hardwood pallets pretty quick.
Probably an accident.
Booze could figure as you say.
chainsaws and bandsaws..........sober.
