WINNIPEG - Police say a 16-year-old Winnipeg boy has been charged after chasing down and stabbing a hammer-wielding teen who had broken into his family’s home Tuesday afternoon.
The 16-year-old’s younger sister called him and told him she was at home and someone had broken in. When the brother arrived, one of the suspects was still in the house, police said.
After checking on his sister, the boy allegedly grabbed a knife and chased down the 15-year-old suspect, who police say was armed with a hammer.
The break-and-enter suspect sprayed the 16-year-old with bear mace, but was stabbed several times in the upper body, police said.
He managed to run away and two other break-and-enter suspects picked him up and drove him to the hospital.
He’s charged with break-in offences.
The 16-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
