Perv dad videotaped rapes of daughters

A Winnipeg man who sexually abused and degraded his two daughters for nearly a decade made no secret of his cruel intentions in a video later seized by police.
"It's supposed to hurt — that's how I get pleasure. Don't you know that by now?" the man tells his daughters in one of hundreds of rape videos recorded between 2002 and 2009.
The 49-year-old man cannot be named to protect the identities of his now adult daughters. He pleaded guilty last year to two counts each of sexual interference, sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, production of child pornography and one count of using an imitation firearm while committing a sexual assault.
Prosecutors are seeking an order designating the man a dangerous offender, a move that, if successful, would see him held in custody indefinitely, only to be released when justice officials are satisfied he no longer poses a danger to society.
As the hearing resumed Tuesday, Crown attorney Cindy Sholdice spent much of the morning detailing the man's depraved and degrading actions.
Sitting in the prisoner's box, the man didn't raise his head all morning.
Videos seized by police show the man raping and violating the girls beginning when they were nine and 11 years old. The man later admitted he started abusing the older girl two years earlier when she was nine.
Court heard the man routinely tied each girl to a bed as he raped them and forced them to perform oral sex. The man used sex toys and bondage gear on the girls, including ball gags and clothespins.
For obeying his demands, the man awarded the girls "points" which were to be used for a family vacation.
As time passed, the man's behavior became more sadistic and violent as the girls became less compliant.
"I like tying you two up because it's a bit of a power trip thing for me," the man told the girls in one video.
A polaroid found in the man's home showed him inserting an air pistol in one of the girls' ******.
A document seized by police called "The Rules" said in part "What goes on in this house stays in this house."
Court heard the man separated from his common-law wife in 1994 after he was convicted of sexually assaulting her son. She later consented to allowing him visitation rights with the girls. The abuse occurred during weekend visits to his home.
The abuse came to light in 2011 after one of the victims told her boyfriend who convinced her to go to police.
The hearing is adjourned until Thursday when it is expected to conclude with submissions from the defence.
Justice Brenda Keyser will render her decision at a later date.
