I find it really easy to remember the diff between the two, when I give it conscious thought. But I'm sure I probably slip up and use them wrong when I'm not thinking about it. lol.

accept, to embrace.

except, to cut out.

The greatest trouble I had when I was a linguistics student, was with words "Palpable" and "Tangible". I kept forgetting what these words meant. And as they mean the same things, it gave me even more trouble. Very often, while getting ready for a test, I would ask one of my classmates - what does "tangible" mean? And get the answer - it's the same thing as palpable. Thank you very much, you were a great help!

Yeah, English is horribly senseless sometimes, isn't it. Just think about the spellings, pronunciations, and meanings, of these words: bough, bow (one rhymes with bough, one rhymes with tow) tough, though, through... Madness.

Words like lead, lead, led and others like read, read, and red. For one who's mother tongue is not English these are but a few examples but that's the language.
