I don't know much, not much about politics or economics or financial stuff and not much in regards to a lot of other post topics here, but I still don't say much. To busy trying to read and learn as much as possible!
The key is not to clutter your mind with useless facts and/or figures, but where to find the useless facts and/or figures.

Taoism instructs the sage that the wise say little. Around 600 A.D. that might have been sound advice if not appropriate when saying anything would earn you the consequences of the emperors wrath...

But like the un-said un-talked about dynamics within our own societies and cultures that permitted child abuse and spousal abuse and racism and the many-petaled flower of hypocrisy and prejudice to bloom and flourish, there is I believe a time to say what needs to be said. If we agree with the sentiment that what you don't know can't hurt you....
That sound advice will become new again soon enough already it becomes sage. Hence silence is golden. But discretion is the better part of valour and discource. IMO

I know a little about a lot of things, and a lot about a few things, and I see no reason to keep quiet about any of it. It's true that people who know nothing often say a lot, just look around any Internet message board a bit, but it's not true that when you know something there's nothing to say, that's nonsense. The backbone of any successful human culture comes from people who know things passing them on. How can you learn anything if the people who know about it have nothing to say? A lot of the things I know I learned from listening to people who knew something. There is value in sharing what you know, and much of my reputation here is based on the fact that I do it freely and some people seem to find it interesting and useful. What would you have me do China, shut up and go away? Or stop writing about the things I know? I suppose I could do that, just do drive-by postings in threads on subjects I know nothing about and become just another annoying troll.

I went to university for years to listen to people who knew things saying something about them. There were people there who knew a lot and I wanted to know it too. All those years would have been a colossal waste of my time and money if the people who knew something had had nothing to say about it.

Pseudo-profound BS irritates me.

When you know nothing, you say a lot. But when you know something, there is nothing to say.

Perhaps knowing something is the only time one realizes that there allot that he doesn't know.

I don't know about the only time, but I know the more I learn, the more it opens me up to things I don't know. It's like opening a door only to realize you've entered a room with far more doors than the previous room.

I think ignorance in a sense is the product of real knowedge in that what we discover in every answer is twenty-five more questions, so in that sense we can never come to the end of ignorance, certainly I am an ignorant fool but that is perhaps a wise thing to realize.

Hey Herm ya big spliff toking gadabout... Long time no talkee.....

Good to see you're still around.

All wisdom and all knowledge are present in the space time of our existence. There's simply no capacity within the organic framework of consciousness for these constructs to exist simultaneously. All the individual can have is a piece thereof....
