A man is facing charges for allegedly ripping a turban off a man’s head in Yonge-Dundas Square.
Toronto Police said the alleged attack happened Wednesday around 5:45 p.m.
A man walked up behind a 35-year-old man wearing a turban in the public square and tore the turban off his head, police said.
“The man made derogatory comments and left,” police said.
Several people called police after the alleged assault.
CityNews reporter Cynthia Mulligan claimed on Twitter that she witnessed the incident.
“Sickened by a coward who just attacked a man sitting (with) his wife a few feet away from me at Yonge Dundas Square and pulled his turban off,” Mulligan wrote Wednesday night.
Robin Kelly Skani, 31, of no fixed address, is charged with assault. He was expected to appear in court on Thursday.
