TORONTOMISSISSAUGA - A female elementary teacher in Peel Region is accused of sexually assaulting a student.

Amanda Perreault, 27, worked as a Grades 2 and 3 occasional teacher at St. James Catholic Global Learning Centre for the past two years, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board said in a letter to parents.

“As members of a Catholic school community, you are asked to keep those who may be impacted by this matter in your prayers,” the letter read.

A board spokesman said Perreault also had long-term teaching assignments at St. Lucy Catholic and Bishop Francis Allen schools in Brampton and Sts. Martha and Mary school in Mississauga.

Perreault was arrested Monday and is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, luring to commit invitation to sexual touching, and making sexually explicit material available to a child, Peel Regional Police said.

Officers are concerned there may be additional victims.

Anyone with information is asked to call the special victims unit at 905-453-2121 ext. 3460 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
