TORONTO - That must have been some hat.
It’s a safe bet that Hari the tiger wasn’t expecting someone to jump a fence into an area surrounding his Toronto Zoo enclosure on Saturday.
A video posted on YouTube shows a woman jumping into part of the endangered Sumatran tiger’s exhibit to retrieve a hat.
A man in the video can be heard berating the fence-jumper, calling her a “moron.” She landed in an area which is separated from the tiger by a fence.
“It sets a bad example for others, it was irresponsible,” zoo spokesman Jennifer Tracey said Sunday.
Zoo officials say they are investigating what happened and urged people to snitch on anyone who tries to climb into an animal exhibit.
“Then we can certainly pursue it immediately,” Tracey said.
Anyone who breaches an animal enclosure faces possible trespassing charges or being banned from the zoo.
Hari, who is doing fine after all the excitement, would have been “startled” to see someone other than a zookeeper approaching him, Tracey added.

Looks like a pretty sturdy fence to me. Was it a rejected husband who threw it in there in the first place?

Was this woman ever in any danger?.....Other than falling on her head? The tiger seemed to be well contained though stupidity like this is hard to defend against,

My understanding is there are 2 fences. 1 to protect the visitors and 1 to protect the tiger. The proper question is whether the tiger was in any danger.

Why do we even need to know about this? The TO stations had it wall to wall.

From what I read, it appears that Mother Nature was just trying to cull the herd.

It's too bad we couldn't encourage more people to do that sort of thing. It's very environmentally friendly and inexpensive.

1. The tigers would not have to be fed. That will save a few bucks.
2. It will reduce the surplus population.
3. It will eliminate the dullards. IOW, survival of the fittest. Let's rid ourselves of the shallowenders in the gene pool.
4. We would not be burning gases or wasting energy to raise or create food for the tigers. While man is not considered part of their regular diet, eating natural food, rather than raising animals for tigger's lunch, seems like something the greenies would be happy about.

yowza! yowza!
