$30 could save people from smoke inhalation

TORONTO - In a smokey fire, like the one that killed three residents at a seniors building in Malvern Friday, a $30 mask could be the difference between life and death.

Bruce Victor Allali, CEO of Firemask Inc., has no doubt the elderly occupants of 1315 Neilson Rd. would have been able to walk through the smoke-filled hall and outside to safety had they been wearing the Firemask F60.

“Our mask could have saved those seniors from suffering smoke inhalation,” Victor told the Toronto Sun.

The fire at the Toronto Community Housing Corporation building, which was more smoke than flames, sent a dozen residents to hospital — most for smoke inhalation.

Officials haven’t released the cause of death for the three who didn’t survive.

“Evacuation time for a seniors home is close to 47 minutes on average,” Allali said. “The Firemask filters toxic gases and allows the user to breathe for 60 minutes.”

He said the firemask takes up little space, is easy to don and costs just $29.95.

“My parents, aunts and uncles all have a mask in their nightstand,” Allali said. “It gives them peace of mind and protection.”

He said Firemask, a Canadian company, has sold its product around the world for a decade and in North America for the past five years.

“We supply the U.S. Air Force and Canadian Navy,” Allali said.

The Firemask F60 is available on http://amazon.ca/Firemask-F-60-Buildings-Hospitals-Retirement/dp/B00AM3I8H2 or, for larger quantities, visit Firemaskâ„¢.
