Probe into video of baby churned in bucket hits 'dead end'

TORONTO - The investigation of a disturbing online video showing a baby aggressively churned around in a bucket of water has hit a roadblock, Toronto Police said Wednesday.
“We’re at a dead end, we can’t go any further,” Const. Scott Mills said.
The video in question was spotted on Facebook and brought to the attention of Toronto Police on Tuesday.
Almost two minutes long, the video shows a naked baby held by the arms and dunked and swirled around in a bucket of what appears to be water. At one point, the unidentified person with the baby also steers the child in the bucket by the head. The child’s head does not seem to go underwater.
The Toronto Catholic Children’s Aid Society said an intake worker immediately reported the video to police after she spotted it while browsing Facebook at home.
“They were just appalled by the video,” Mills said.
It is unclear where the video was recorded but police don’t believe it was shot in Canada.
“Obviously, if we found out information as to where they were, we’d do everything we could to try and locate the child but we’ve exhausted our options,” Mills said.
Police initially said their child exploitation unit was probing the jarring video, which had them concerned for the baby’s welfare.
A spokesman for Facebook said Wednesday that they looked into the video and found it did not violate their policies.
