Thief makes off with wheelchair ramp in Etobicoke
By Chris Doucette, Toronto Sun First posted: Wednesday, December 24, 2014 01:19 PM EST | Updated: Wednesday, December 24, 2014 01:27 PM EST
TORONTO - Cops are hunting a thief who stole a wheelchair ramp in south Etobicoke.
Toronto Police say the ramp was snatched Monday from out front of a house near Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Kipling Ave. some time between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
“It’s a portable ramp,” Const. Victor Kwong said Wednesday. “And it was a temporary rental.”
He said the ramp is made out of aluminium and folds up like a briefcase. It is about two feet wide when folded.
There is a “Shoppers HomeHealthCare” sticker on the ramp, which contains the address of the drugstore the victim leased it from.
Investigators have released images of a similar wheelchair ramp hoping a member of the public will recognize the device and help officers track it down.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the ramp should call police at 416-808-2200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
