A good friend in another city phones to ask you a favour. Her boyfriend George,whom you have met a couple of times and like, is going to be in town overnight for a convention, but he has not been able to find a hotel room. Could you possibly put him up for the night? You agree without hesitation; he can sleep on the pullout sofa in the living room.
The night he is in town, he calls and says he will be coming over in about half an hour and there is someone he would like you to meet: a woman who is an expert in foot reflexology. Everyone knows that you love massage and he thinks she might be happy to give you one. You agree since it is still early.
When they come over, you find the woman very pleasant, and the conversation easy. You all have a good time. But it is getting late and this woman is making no moves to leave. It turns out that she does not live in town either, and that she and George just met at the convention.
Finally around midnight while you are cleaning up the kitchen, George comes in alone and asks you quietly if you would mind terribly if she stayed, because she has not been able to find a hotel room either and is short of cash.
...I would call this a classic set-up

All of what I call "dilemmas" are pure fiction and require a lot of thought. Some though have been from experiences but in a very small way and probably from the plethora of books that I have read over the years and have forgotten about. For some reason they just come to me as this one did and NO, this is something I have never had to face. It was as hard for me to answer after I had written it as hopefully it will be for our fellow members. Really there are no bad answers and some have been very funny.
Yet I am sure that someone has faced this situation as they have concerning my other dilemmas, that is what makes these things so interesting and entertaining.
