In another thread I was going to make a little joke in reference to GI JOE, but then I got to thinking about something that just didn't make any sense:

GI JOE - "A Real American Hero"

A "REAL" American Hero......

How can a Cartoon / Action Figure or Doll be a "Real American Hero" if it's not real to begin with?

The entire foundation of your childhood may hang in the balance depending on how you view/answer this, so choose wisely your final conclusions.

read the wording on the box. it's not real american hero, it's realamerican hero. making your rant moot, as realamerican is just branding, not actual words with actual meaning.

It's too late. Praxius just pulled the carpet of sanity from under my feet. Damage is done. My mental foundations have been shattered.

Anyone know a good crystal meth dealer?

And here I was just thinking it was poor grammar.

But never the less, Realamerican and Real American are supposed to still mean the same thing, if not, then what does "Realamerican" stand for? Brand names and slogans are still supposed to have some meaning to them and I'm pretty sure they didn't just put it on there because they thought it looked pretty.

Now you just opened up an even bigger can of worms

Flip him over and I bet he's made in China. I'm sure the cartoons are drawn there too. The only thing "real American" about him is his copyright.

In the original G.I. Joe comics, Joe and his buddies were killing "krauts" in Germany, and "gooks" in Japan. Every German soldier had swastikas on their uniforms, and every Japanese soldier was a bandy-legged little guy with thick glasses. Not very politically correct our G.I. Joe. The term G.I. originally came from Government Issue.
